The Afeela 1 from Sony Honda Mobility was announced earlier this year at CES in Las Vegas. Reservations ($200, refundable) are open now, with the first cars, in two trims at $89,900 (Origin) and $102,900 (Signature), getting delivered in mid-2026.

Yikes-90K for a non sports car Honda?!

Hard to believe Honda is going in that direction.  Passengers watching movies in surround sound when average trip is way too short, not to mention most cars only have drivers in them?  No doubt a way for a wealthy buyer to state they have more money than they need, but I’m not sure that’s the right message for Honda to be associated with.  Just doesn’t seem the right type of marketing for a company based on value for common people.

What is Honda getting out of this partnership?

The head honcho at Sony Honda Mobility is suggesting that Honda's East Liberty plant is learning how to do contract manufacturing:

Leveraging Honda’s expertise as our contract manufacturing partner, combined with Sony Honda Mobility’s additional quality standards and inspections based on our standards, we are committed to delivering AFEELA 1’s design with exceptional precision and refined quality. The journey toward this vision has already begun in Ohio.

Looks like a 3D asset you'd see in the background of a mid-tier video game.

Which may be intentional as Afeela 1 has a built-in PS5, and is one of the cars gamers can choose in Gran Turismo 7:
