2017 Expediton PCM

Hello everyone. Here is a conundrum I have multiple people sharing in, which has turned into an impossible nightmare.

The driver's side rear directional and brake light goes out on my 2017 Ford Expedition XLT - I get a fast flashing dashboard light.

In EVERY auto I have ever owned, this means the bulb is out, so I replace it.

No good.

I then replace the socket.

Still no good.

I bring it to my dealer who says his technician found a short and it works fine now.

He's right it does.

For two days! Then it starts again - no rear directional or brake light.

Back to the sealer.

NOW he tells me the PCM is shot, as in, it is not functioning properly, and no one can fix it.

THEN he tells me that Ford DOES NOT MAKE A REPLACEMENT PART.

Yikes!

He goes on to tell me I should start searching junkyards.

Before I go that route, i send it to someone who specializes in such modules, down in the state of Georgia. They return it saying the module cannot be repaired.  Thanks.

Has anyone had this problem?

One thought among friends is to rewire the directional and brake lights to the hitch  - because in checking the hitch lights separately from the car's,   they work.

Um...

Thoughts?
