Farley offers more details about off-road supercar

Recommended Posts

- A 1,000 hp hybrid powertrain

- Won't look like a bronco or a truck, so likely an actual supercar body, but it will be more hardcore than Lamborghini and Porsche off-road supercars.

- Highly digital experience

- Could be a 2 seater, or 4.

- Will be a dedicated supercar and won't share a platform with things like a bronco or f-150 raptor

- He wants Ford to make a supercar that's highly differentiated from other supercars on sale.

So I'm envisioning like a next gen supercar body on raptor style suspension with most likely a mid-mounted 1,000 hp hybrid setup. That's pretty badass.

He talks about the off-road supercar in the later half of the interview, I was surprised he was so open about it. Pretty solid interview overall.

the whole supercar body with offroad stuff confuses me, TBH.  Why would I want something with compromised body style like that offroad?

That's interesting, because having the sex appeal and driving dynamics of a supercar, but having it be something that can handle rough terrain, all sorts of weather, I can definitely see the appeal behind that.

I instead think "why would I want to take my supercar offroad to get damaged".

People don't take $300k supercars out when the sun isn't shining.

Nor will they take them offroad.

I was excited about this until I saw the $300k price tag.

The 300k price tag is something people are pulling out of their ass. Farley didn't say anything about pricing.

OK, so after listening to Farley's explanation, it makes more sense what they're doing and what they are after.

Same, I just listened to it as well, and it makes some more sense.  I still wonder how it would look.  It has a chance to be cool, but equal chance to be goofy looking, IMO.

Most supercars can drive over 200 mph, but most don't leave a garage. People buy it "because it can", and not actually do the thing it can do. I'll bet most Broncos don't leave the paved roads either.

If it's like an actual supercar concept, it'll probably look pretty badass. If it's something that looks like a te1 racing truck, it'll look pretty goofy. I like the idea, I do not like how the TE1 looks, so hopefully it doesn't pull styling inspiration from that.

But at what cost? And to how many people?  The big winner if it happened?

Probably MultiMatic😎
