rmc523
Jeep’s Luxury SUV Revolution: Wagoneer Name Retires - Autoblog Here’s some bad news for Wagoneer. Jeep is reportedly retiring the standalone Wagoneer nameplate after 2025. In 2026, the SUV maker will rebrand the entire lineup, from base trims to the top-of-the-line versions, under the Grand Wagoneer badge. Dealer sources have confirmed this move, with Mopar Insiders explaining that Jeep’s shift is due to low demand for the Wagoneer. The move is aimed at refining the brand’s identity and delivering a more cohesive, premium ownership experience. ... There will be a major reshuffle in the variant labels by removing Series I, II, and III and replacing them with Summit and Limited trims. I never understood the delineation between Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer aside from fewer features on the former (I think).
Dequindre
The name is the least of the Wagoneer's/Grand Wagoneer's issues.

Yeah it looking like a GMT8000 SUV from 10-15 years ago from the side is the biggest issue Not sure why they didn't go the retro modernized look for the Grand Wagoneer using the original for the new product. Yeah i get the fake wood paneling wouldn't work, but it wouldn't be that hard to make it look more like this, instead of some generic 2 box SUV shape that has a bunch of Jeep bling attached to it
rmc523
I just posted this over at GMI, and I'll throw it in here too: The issue isn't the "Grand" prefix. The issue is that they're not consistent with its usage in their own lineup. For the Cherokee nameplate, the Cherokee and Grand Cherokee/L are completely unrelated vehicles - one a compact, the other midsize/large. Then you jump to Wagoneer, and the "Grand" prefix is some unknown deliniation between "luxury" and.....not.....I think?? Like I as an auto enthusiast don't really know how to explain the difference aside from the Grand one is supposed to be higher end, but one can option a loaded "Wagoneer" above the base "Grand" Wagoneer. I view the lack of Jeep branding ON the vehicle as a wash - sure, it makes more sense to have Jeep branding, since all styling cues are Jeep, and just because you don't call it one doesn't mean it isn't one. A rival example is the Mustang Mach-E. Sure, people refer to it as Mustang Mach-E (or just Mach-E), but Ford still treats it as part of a Mustang sub brand.......it's still a Ford Mustang Mach-E. Same with Bronco - there's a Bronco sub-brand, but they're still Ford Bronco and Bronco Sport. See below google searches, where Ford includes Ford, but Jeep specifically leaves off the Jeep name with a Wagoneer search.....they fixed this with the Wagoneer S, which is referred to as the Jeep Wagoneer S (I think this is a dumb name as it sounds like a trim level vs. a unique model, but that's a different discussion). Rick73
Borrowing range extender powertrain from Ramcharger will be interesting; curious to see how it performs, particularly in highway driving and when towing. Quote Jeep’s flagship SUV is transitioning to electric power with the upcoming 2026 Grand Wagoneer 4xe. Set to launch as a plug-in hybrid range extender, it reportedly features a 92 kWh battery paired with a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 generator, delivering 660 miles of range, 330 hp, and 615 lb-ft of torque. The 4xe aims to provide long-distance capability for a luxury off-roader. Designed to balance rugged utility with eco-efficiency, the 4xe will retain Jeep’s signature off-road hardware while integrating next-generation technology. rmc523
I think getting rid of the body color pillars would make it look more contemporary. Unfortunately, the way they designed it, it'd still look weird even if you painted them. It'll require a full redesign to fix.
blazerdude20
I just assumed the grand part of the name was to indicate the longer version like Expedition/Max. Knowing two people that bought these, and have had a multitude of serious issues, marked it off our list immediately when shopping for a new car. Came down to Yukon XL and Expedition Max. Even though the wagoneer could be had ~$10k cheaper. Edited October 10 by blazerdude20

Eh, this is different because the vehicle is the same aside from options.

The Cutlass name was first used on the 1954 V8-powered Oldsmobile sports coupe concept that was about the size of the future F85, where Cutlass was the top trim in 1961. All the permutations (Supreme, 4-4-2, International Series, Ciera, ad nauseum) started in 1964 when Cutlass became the model name, and ended in 1999. 1954 Oldsmobile Cutlass Sports Coupe Concept:
rmc523
Jeep’s Wagoneer Is Dead. Long Live The Facelifted 2026 Grand Wagoneer | Carscoops Jeep barely mentioned interior changes, but there’s a new heads-up display on higher-end variants. It features a “significantly larger field of view and a virtual image distance twice that of previous versions.” Under the hood, there’s a familiar twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six producing 420 hp (313 kW / 426 PS) and 468 lb-ft (635 Nm) of torque. Unfortunately, Jeep has apparently dropped the high-output variant that developed 540 hp (402 kW / 548 PS) and 521 lb-ft (706 Nm). The big news is an all-new range-extender variant known as the Grand Wagoneer REEV. It borrows heavily from the Ram 1500 REV, which used to be known as the Ramcharger, and features a 92 kWh battery pack as well as a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 that acts as a generator. It’s slated to be the quickest and most powerful Grand Wagoneer ever created as the company is estimating a combined output of 647 hp (482 kW / 656 PS) and 620 lb-ft (840 Nm) of torque. This should enable the SUV to rocket from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in five seconds flat and have a range in excess of 500 miles (805 km).
