The downside to that is it doesn’t look as good as the one embedded in the B-pillar appliqué.

Nope it's the one embedded in the b pillar.  They made it dealer installable a few years ago.

The stick-on DIO is OK... but on a vehicle that starts in the $70's, I'd much prefer the factory B-pillar light-up type.

That reminds me, we have a Bronco Sport in our order bank. I should talk to the boss about adding the "18Q" Securicode pad so we're sure of what it is. It only adds $195 to the sticker, a worthy addition to know for sure.

It's a b pillar replacement.  My sister in law did it on her explorer.

My friend's 2021 or 2022 F-150 didn't come with it and he really wanted it because he does a lot of water skiing and wind surfing and doesn't want to have his keys on him and the dealership put the stick on kind for him and told him they have a limited life because they have a battery they are not hard wired.  I was shocked to hear that.  I wonder if he can get the B Pillar replacement like akirby mentioned now.

  • 4 weeks later...

How about "re-contenting"? 2026 Explorers dropped the panoramic twin-panel roof and the 3.0L option on the Platinum. Both are back for 2027.

Order guide shows Space White as the only dropped color, but Rapid Red is gone too. New colors available are Ruby Red and Avalanche.

They probably came to their senses and realized it was a stupid move in the first place.

Or it was a temporary supplier issue.

I could understand for the roof, but the 3.0 is in other models, so putting it back on Platinum seems like those buyers weren't happy it wasn't an option.

We've gone through a LOT of 2026 Platinum Explorers and haven't had anyone overly unhappy they couldn't get the bigger engine. Now that it'll be available again, I'm sure it'll be much more desired. I will absolutely say that we've had no Explorers with the fixed glass roof but DID have someone ask us to find her a 2025 ST so she'd have the opening roof. And that was just a couple months ago.
