Ford Bronco Sales Are Threatening the Jeep Wrangler’s Dominance for the First Time

Recommended Posts

Crazy that the JL's sales were 240k when it debuted.  I'd imagine we'll see a spike whenever the new model comes out.

Good to see Bronco has been doing better, I see them everywhere now.  It'll be interesting to see if sales continue going up next year with such a big jump this year (plus elimination of a indirect internal competitor - Edge, will have evened out next year)

Either way, competition will make both better.

My buddy has one and has three different open recalls on it-I have two on my Bronco, but at least I don't have to worry about it catching on fire lol

Yeah you only have to worry about the Bronco losing all motive power (fuel pump) while driving on the interstate lol

I’m surprised that Ford hasn’t offered a hybrid variant of the Bronco yet. I’m sure that it will get it eventually but I see Wrangler 4xE hybrids all the time.

Farley has hinted that it is comping soon. It's a safe bet that it will be the same power train that is in the Ranger PHEV and will include Pro Power Onboard.

Had a Bronco rental when we were in CO, Wrangler 4XE rental in Hawaii a couple months prior. I know I’m a Ford fan, but I just can’t imagine buying a Wrangler over a Bronco, especially as a daily driver.

My knee kept hitting the headlight switch when getting out of the Bronco, turning them on, which was annoying.

Yeah, I've done that a few times over the years....

yeah the fuel pump and seat thing that just came out lol

I just had the camera one done and the rear suspension thing done.  And literally the same day I picked mine up from that, I got the seatbelt and fuel pump ones in the mail lol.

Friend of mine who has had his around a year said he’d done it only a couple times too. I bet I did it six times over a long weekend, but I’m also 6’-4” so I don’t know if my height might be part of it.

Yeah, the height will probably do it!  I'm 6'0.  Probably just depends how the seat is positioned, etc.  They definitely put that switch right on the corner/angled just right to get hit

I've never hit the switch on mine.  I'm 5'-10", so a bit shorter than you guys.

I also have a 2 door, so maybe there's more room since I think the front doors are a bit longer.  I honestly couldn't even tell you where the light switch is exactly...I don't think I've touched it since I put it in auto when we got it. :)

It's just one of those times when one product does basically everything better than the other, which is pretty rare. The bronco looks better, it's more reliable, it's much better around town, it has better tech, it's cooler because we basically just got the bronco back, compared to the wrangler that's been around for decades, and it seems to be better at high speed off-roading. Unless your idea of fun is driving up a rock at half a mile an hour, the bronco is the one to buy.

Our airport rental had a 4 door bronco. Even with the skinny tires, I kinda liked how it looked. Once you throw on wider proper off-road tires, the bronco looks fantastic. I've never felt that way about a wrangler.

Yea, when Ford offers a Bronco EV in the U.S. market (Bronco Lightning? Bronco Mach-E?) that may be our next new vehicle purchase. I doubt the Bronco New Energy from China will be imported to the U.S., so it's wait and see for now...
