But the Model Y was even worse. It had a defect rate of 17.3 percent, versus 3.5 percent for a Mini Cooper SE, making it the worst TÜV has seen in this age group in a decade. The biggest defect culprits were the axle assembly, suspension, brakes and lighting.

 

 

I find it slightly amazing that European countries still do safety inspections on vehicles, where as its been discarded by most states in US, with them just doing an emissions test then slapping a sticker on.

NYS does both annually.

NJ used to be more rigorous with inspections, now it's just a couple basic things and check emissions, same with MD when I lived there.

Nothing here in MO any more until you reach 150k miles or 10 years of age on the vehicle.

I would like to see inspections return for headlights and tires at a minimum.  Too many people driving around with one headlight and/or bald tires.
