Then you have that SCEecoboost dipshit who is like obsessed with being negative on every article FA writes. Like he's a prime example of the kind of person you can't please. He keeps saying bring back sedans, but was also bitching about Ford offering a new affordable EV performance sedan, and a mustang sedan, it's so stupid. If Ford made a new affordable gas powered sedan, he'd complain that it was turbocharged, and if it was naturally aspirated, he'd complain about it being underpowered. I'm a huge car enthusiast, but I'm getting kinda tired of these sorts of people. I'm just thrilled about the prospect of a sedan making a return, even better if it's something sporty. Far too many people just can't be satisfied these days.

The insane part is that there probably is a hardcore RWD car niche market that Ford could easily fill with a four door based off the Mustang’s platform. All the elements have been there for years but Farley and Ford gave us a hint at priorities when Bromco was launched - the biggest demographic open to buying a Bronco came from Mustang owners….. So yeah, Maybe Mr. Farley was cautious about offering the car knowing that eyes could be distracted from those lucrative Bronco sales? …I wonder if that view is starting to change? Fascinating, that's one of those things where you wouldn't immediately think that way, you wouldn't automatically assume the bronco appealed to a lot of mustang enthusiasts. But the more you think about it, the more sense it starts to make, a lifestyle heritage model from Ford with retro styling, and relatively decent performance for the money. There's a lot of overlap there. I think Farley has been watching the market pretty closely, and is seeing there's relatively resilient for a performance sedan both among enthusiast consumers, and groups like police fleets who are still using chargers and starting to buy mustang GTS more.

And this is why the buying public can be just so confounding, you'd bet money that a certain performance sedan would be a shoe in for easy sales and then they don’t show up because this or that is wrong with the car…. I had a Mustang. Now I have a Bronco. SUVs are more practical, and the Bronco can recreate the open-ness of the Mustang with the practicality of an SUV. I wouldn't purchase a Mustang sedan, but would've kept my Mustang if I didn't have to make payments on it.

My folks are currently planning for retirement, and after a lifetime of being frugal and responsible, I'm trying to convince them to get something special for themselves. It's kinda a toss up between a 4 door bronco and a base c8 at the moment. Both are icons with open air capabilities, but that's where it ends. We live in Utah at the moment, but the winters here are very mild, it's December and still in the 40s/50s with zero snow on the ground, so having a RWD sports car isn't a huge issue. We already own an SUV and a truck, so I'm kinda trying to steer them towards a sports car. My dad has mobility issues in his early 70s, so it would be a challenge, but it would probably also be hard for him to step up into a bronco, he's gonna struggle either way. My mom only being 5'1 would probably like owning a low slung sports car, and loves the c8 every time she sees one. Plus the c8 will probably retain it's resale value better than the bronco. But it'll probably be less reliable long term, and more expensive to maintain. So it's definitely a series of trade offs.

I'd replace my Edge ST tomorrow with a X6 like Mustang SUV with a Coyote and 10 speed auto. Before I bought my Edge, I tried to get a Mach E, but the best deal I could find at the time was $5000 over sticker. I got the Edge for under sticker with 0% APR for 60 months. Here's a quick, cheesy AI rendering of a X6 sized Mustang SUV.

I had a Flex originally, and got the Mustang as a second vehicle early 2018 (knowing that Bronco was on the horizon and was planning on getting out of the Flex because it was 11-ish years old at that point). I sold the Flex privately and then had the Mustang as a daily for a year and a half before my Bronco arrived. Anyway, before I got the Mustang, I looked at an Edge ST, and did like it, but I just didn't love it enough to go with it. I guess it wasn't "unique" enough? (Which I suppose goes along with Farley's commodity product line). Had the Bronco not been on the horizon, I probably would've gone with the Edge, but once Bronco was around, that was the direction I was going. Also in Bronco's favor was that my Mustang was a convertible, and that's what drew me to it - that I could take the top off and have the open-air feeling with an SUV. I did also think about a Mach E, but wasn't ready to go full electric (I'd have gotten a hybrid Bronco if it were available). I would consider something like a Mustang SUV, but couldn't say if I'd pull the trigger or not unless I saw it.

Perhaps they should make the Mach E more car-like and have the Rally model as the lifted crossover model. I'm thinking something like the Crown Sport, but a BEV. Height: 61.4in *Crown Sport is a hybrid and PHEV Current gen Mach E for comparison. Height: 64in Edited December 8, 2025 by AM222
