Ford Energy Announced

Well again, my contention is most class 7 and lower sales are to the people you describe-small business trade people/contractors.  Do the Verizons, Comcasts, (7M3's employer) of the world place large orders for class 4/5 trucks?  Yes but I'm talking about the thousands of businesses in this country that buy these lower classes in support of their business.

I have to say, the only large fleet orders I see for class 6 and 7 Fords are UPS and Enterprise Rentals.

I really don't understand what you're arguing?

I don't care what they do at this point as long as they do something and follow it through.

Cuts to them canceling this plan in a few weeks....

He doesn't think Ford is a real commercial vehicle company because they don't sell class 8 trucks and all they seem to advertise on TV are Transit vans.

Let me rephrase....I know what he said......I don't get the point lol.   Doesn't make any sense

Any actual fleet person would know the players out there, and wouldn't see an ad on TV for a F-750 and be like "why didn't I think of that!?!"

My point exactly.  If you're buying a work vehicle you're going to research payload, towing, maintenance, 3rd party fitments and price.  And who doesn't already know what is offered in that space?

Almost everybody eats Chinese but I have never seen a tv ad for a chinese restaurant.  Advertising is overrated outside of new vehicle intros and major sales.

So, question is, does Ford Energy stand on its own or is it under Ford Model e?

Oh, and Happy birthday @akirby .....enjoy!!

It's sounding like its own entity I think?

They're calling it a subsidiary.

I keep wondering what could possibly go

wrong with this plan……..

Recall on 500 massive battery banks?

That is my concern too. The Escape PHEV has had multiple problems with the battery packs. Ford is likely concerned about this also and that is probably why Ford Energy is going to be its own entity.

Happy Birthday @akirby!

Hey Texasorta,

So thinking this through, Ford sees a big market for battery production but,

If Tesla is already heavily engaged in supplying industrial batteries, will there be enough buyers for Ford?

The US is going through an unpresented growth in energy requirements for manufacturing and AI, so I don't think their will be too much an issue in selling batteries to people for energy storage.

Yes, exactly. The new data centers are exploding and they will be using BESS. If what I have been reading is correct, then there is going to be strong demand. I just hope the Ford Energy cells have fewer problems than the Samsung cells used in the Escape PHEV. @jpd80’s concerns are valid.

OK,  Last point I will make-0h yes happy BD AK-Hope you are still going when  you are 82😎

I have never said a word about class 8, that ship sailed 28 years ago.  And I am NOT talking about fleets that have a "fleet Manager".  I'm talking about the thousands of small business owners who have a small number of trucks ..typically in classes 1-7 that are a necessity to support their business...trucks are a tool, not the breadwinner in their business.  And some of these guys are diehards when it comes to what they buy while others buy what is available.

And yes, I'm guilty.  If Ford Pro is supposed to appeal to "Business"  I just suggest they should portray Ford as a company that sells other vehicles besides pick ups and Transits.  As I've said the New England dealer group has been running their ads that feature the full product slate.  Must be a reason right?

Respectfully, this has an eerily similar sound to it but hey, Ford could be about to strike real pay dirt…..

LFP batteries are pretty bullet proof, so chances are good that quality issues should be a rare event and

nothing like the Mach E contaminated cell issues of a few years ago would happen with this chemistry
