2009 MKX P0356, PCM ??

Recommended Posts

A few weeks ago I had an issue start.

I have a known alternator problem.

I "think" it started over charging and burnt up my #6 coil.

Originally saw P0306 code.

I had some used coils and plugs and swapped.

Thought a few minutes would have me set.

Nope.

Tried multiple used, a couple new plugs and coils.

No better.

Compared and checked what I could.

I do have positive battery voltage at one side of coil input.

Other side shows "pulse".

I checked the connector and just because it is cheap and easy I will replace that also shortly.

But...

After searching I thought PCM was going to be issue.

Thought too much voltage and/or burnt coil must have burnt up component (resistor?) in the PCM.

Saw a few videos showing how an old one was burnt swelled up and obviously bad.

I pulled mine and opened up.

I realize that my naked eye might not identify electrical trouble, but did not see anything like I was expecting.

Attached pics...

So I am really still wondering what to do or if there is any hope for my poor MKX.

I also read a few posts while searching mentioning that injector pulse was checked with a noid light for a suspicious cylinder when investigating an ignition coil trouble.

Any enlightenment on the connection there?

Or anything that might help?

Something anyone else has been through and similar?

I previously posted on Ford Truck site that I frequent, if anyone interested enough to want more history/detail.

TIA
