Ford Sales January 2026 - Down 5.3%

The good:

 

Some bright spots on there like Explorer, Bronco and Expy.  Maverick and Ranger also increased.

 

The bad:

F-series down...maybe production related?

Ford will desperately miss Escape - I don't think Bronco Sport will be able to fully absorb the Escape buyer pool, as we see with a net 5,215 loss between the two in January.  It'll be interesting to see what happens there over the course of the year.

 

I'm shocked that Lincoln hasn't announced anything regarding Corsair - they'll be in an even bigger world of hurt with 1/4 of the lineup gone.

Based on this month's sales, it seems like not much....  If I'm reading the gross stock chart right, looks like about 26,000 in inventory?

 

If it sold at 8k/month, that'd have been 3 1/4 months.  But at 3400/month, you're looking at 7.64 months.

 

The same calculation for Corsair is 4.25 months.

I don't recall Ford/Lincoln actually stating that production would end-they might just do a wink/nod thing and not really play up the fact it would be coming from China?

Except they'll have to make some sort of announcement because they have a more updated version than we did, so unless the updated one just shows up at dealerships, they'll have to say something...

I understand that but I don't think' they'll play the the fact it is coming from China.

Correct, inventory at 173K is pretty skinny considering Ford likes to run around 220-250k max

Even with sales just under 48K, Ford is prioritising builds to the more profitable, fast moving versions.

Maybe need to see the quarter result but definitely down about 10,000 last month vs Jan 2025.

Just focus on "updated Corsair"!!!

I agree, and the supposed replacement will be an EV still a couple of years away. At worst, should have kept Escape as Hybrid only...

Hopefully the ICE Maverick utility is fast tracked.

That's a big middle finger to the brand from Ford, then.  I still don't understand the math of giving the Chinese models much higher investment for fewer sales vs. the brand's home market.

B Sport is too small to appeal to many potential Escape buyers. CE1 will be launching in a very difficult EV market.

We don't know the size of the new Bronco Sport.  Current one is the same width as Escape with the same wheelbase (within an inch or so) and is actually 5 inches taller than Escape.  But it's 8 inches shorter.  That can easily be fixed by  cargo area and rear seat room.

Agree but when will we get a new Bronco Sport? I haven’t seen any indication a NG B Sport is coming in the next 3 years.

The front seating position and size is identical to the 2020 Escape (I have a BS and drove my parents 2020 Escape)

 

The back seat space isn't as bad as people make it out to be and I haven't heard my wife complain at all about the interior space over her old 2017 Escape.

Agree, I mean, it would be crazy not to get a replacement, just leave the brand with only 3 models is pretty bad. Also is important to take into account that last year only the Navi was up, the rest of the models sold less units than in 2024

Well that makes more sense at least as a stop gap.  I just realized the "no Corsair import" statement came from Borg.  Nuff said....

I recall that as well, plus we did see the Chinese model testing over here.  But it's Ford, so who knows...
