BenKohnen
Hello! My obligatory introduction post, I suppose. I'm Ben Kohnen, living in central Wisconsin. Started out on the sales team at a Ford dealership in 2016, learned everything I could about dealership operations while I was there. I was backup finance manager, marketing, internet, sometimes sales manager, finally full time finance manager. Left that store over ethical disagreements, took a sales job at another Ford store briefly. Jumped to a Nissan store as sales/finance manager, but then came home to a very small family Ford store. I'm finally in a dealership where doing the right thing isn't just a phrase, it's how business is done. My current role is sales+finance, but in a small store, we all wear lots of hats. I've been taking all the photos of inventory for our website, doing walk-through videos, and plan to add a few new twists over the next year or so, pending time and energy! We really became a Ford family just before starting at that first store. Got a 2012 Escape XLT, then a 2018 Escape SE and a 2004 Taurus SE wagon to replace my Aveo that died. A 2018 Focus SE hatchback replaced the wagon a year later. Wife's Escape jumped from the 18 to a 2022 SEL, and I ordered in a 2024 Maverick XLT Tremor. Within the family we've also got another 18 Focus SE hatch (son), 15 Escape Titanium (daughter), 20 Aviator Reserve (daughter), 22 Explorer (mother in law). Since being in the Ford world, I've had the opportunity to attend Bronco Off Roadeo in Texas in 2021, F-150 PowerBoost training in Chicago, Ford Credit Lease Training in Milwaukee, and several others I'm spacing out. When I'm not working, I'm a long time paintball player, played my first games in 1992 after coming home from basic training. During my time around paintball I made many of my "adult" friends, and became a moderator on PBNation, the world's largest paintball forum. I still play, even all these years later, I'm just slower. We've had a few times where we've had three generations of players on the field at the same time, which is pretty unique. My military service was with the US Army as a Cavalry Scout at Fort Knox (Reserve+Guard 1991-1997). No deployments, only training times at Camp Shelby MS (Mk19 grenade launcher), Fort Irwin CA (being part of the OPFOR/bad guys), and Fort McCoy WI. I've got a passion for aviation, and being close to Oshkosh means we can attend EAA's AirVenture regularly. We also attend the Chicago Auto Show pretty much every year, take tons of photos, and keep on top of what's going on in the automotive world.
