Lincoln To Get Bronco-Based Range Rover-Fighter

Could be a perfect next vehicle for my wife.  She wants a Bronco, but a Lincoln with fixed top (and some type of electrification) would be better!  If it comes in close to that $95k sticker price, though, it may not make it to our garage.

Yeah, I find it hard to believe it'd hit that price as base pricing.

I could definitely see it mirroring GX pricing though:

Starting in the $60s and up from there.

The lowest of low hanging fruit... I'm been predicting Ford will do a Lincoln T6 for a while.

Anyway, I'm now fully convinced the Tennessee plant is just going to be the 2nd T6 location in North America. Body on frame is child's play for Ford so with addition of 2nd plants, it opens up a lot of possibilities for Ford to work with that they are current constrained from doing because they don't want to reduce volume output on Bronco.

  • Lincoln SUV - every luxury brand is working on its own Defender/G-Wagen/GX/Rivian R1S competitor.
  • Everest - everyone is jumping back into this segment to challenge Toyota 4Runner and LC. It's kind of crazy that they all left in the first place. Nissan Pathfinder is returning to BoF for next gen and will also spawn an Xterra and Mitsubishi Montero. GM is supposedly looking at it too and there is a Ram SUV in the work as well.
  • Bronco pickup - this is pretty easy to do... just like the existing 2 door vs. 4 door Bronco, you just add more length.
  • Cheaper pickup - so Bronco pickup will cover the higher MSRP range while Ranger remains in the main Tacoma competitor. With more production flexibility, Ford will probably think about also a flanker product to slot in below Ranger (especially if Maverick EV takes off and the ICE is eventually phased out). Ford already has lower costs pickups that slot in below Ranger in China so wouldn't be hard to do on in the US too.

I almost suggested that the T6 Lincoln could be the next Aviator…

The LR Defender has a long wheelbase three row version, but that would take away from the novelty of Lincoln stepping into new territory. I would actually like to see them innovate within this segment.

To these two points - I believe in North America, Ranger may move to a smaller uni-body or giga-cast chassis into a new segment of truck that would be be built at TPP, thus freeing up space at Michigan Assembly for a Lincoln T-6 chassis vehicle and a Bronco type pick up in limited numbers in the same range as current Ranger T-6 production but not affect T-6 Ranger in ROW markets.

The whole point of the Ranger is provide a platform for the Bronco...I don't see Ford reinventing the wheel just for North America for the Ranger nameplate, I can see something "different"

I don't disagree that Bronco needed to be built on a proper body on frame chassis and F-Series was too big for that mission when Bronco returned. With that said, Ford always seemed to be "lukewarm" to bringing Ranger back into North America and their lack of choices within Ranger (single cab, supercab, Super-Duty variants) that are available in ROW markets seem to validate that view. But, I have been spectacularly wrong before and I don't mind when I am....lol

I have a goofy thought that may or may not make sense.....

MAP goes Bronco only, producing Bronco 2 and 4 door, along with a truck variant.

TPP gets Ranger, Everest (Land Cruiser competition) and Lincoln variant, with the Lincoln using Everest as a starting point instead of Bronco would solve the "how to solve the NVH/restructure issues of starting with Bronco".

I know we've seen them in the states before, but I did just see an article about a LHD Everest testing here in the States...

This would let them focus on Bronco production while also allowing Ranger to re-gain a supercab model (should they wish), while also spreading costs over multiple models.

I hope that the Ranger gets extended and a boost in priorities, because the reviews are typically very good and many reviewers like its "Raptor" best of the bunch. I haven't seen any ads or boosts from Ford in a long time.

The proposed Lincoln is overdue, if anything. The determination to stay in the "quiet luxury" lane is laudable, but the brand needs something other than a few sizes of luxury soft roaders.

So, how many guesses will it take for this new Lincoln to be "Everest based" and as such, without a removable top but instead a panoramic moon roof top?

2029- retractable moonroof, 2030 fixed glass

Yer welcome.

I like Pioneer, but Honda may have something to say about that.  Not sure if SxS names interfere with vehicle names or not...

Pioneer was also a trim level of the Jeep Cherokee back in the 80s. Maybe call it the Pine Ear to dodge any trademark issues.

Well we know Pontiac isn't gonna be using new names anytime soon 😂. That car might be a POS, but just the name itself I like. It's kinda like how the maverick name is great, even if the original maverick was a terrible car.

I’m not opposed to a luxury off-roader using the Continental name. Sounds fitting for a vehicle that can go anywhere on any continent.

I feel like continental would suit a road going model better. Not even a sedan necessarily, just a flagship model. A Lincoln bronco is gonna be a lot more refined than a normal bronco, but will likely feel clunkier than something like a navigator or nautilus. So I don't know if using your most iconic name would suit it well.
