rmc523
You know, Ford has hinted at an "obvious" change for Bronco. Do we think it could actually get the hybrid? I can't find photos of the current models without the skid plates Not sure what these blocks are covering Also reiterates my idea of a retractable step (with the blocks hiding the arms), but the blocks stick down low for an offroading model (obviously not the whole block will be the component, though). Sure, there's just been a debate as to when it'll happen - whether it'd be during a minor refresh, or wait for the full redesign.

Its hard to say as brands have been known to cover things up that weren't new just to throw people off, it's a pretty sneaky tactic.
rmc523
We already knew this under the general "everything gets a hybrid" umbrella, but Farley has specifically mentioned it now.... Ford CEO Jim Farley Says Bronco Hybrid On The Way "We really want to bet on all of it. We're going to have an all hybrid lineup. So Bronco, everything you can buy at Ford will have a hybrid. We'll also have EREVs for towing," Ford CEO Jim Farley stated during a recent appearance on the Spike's Car Radio podcast, confirming that the rugged SUV will soon be available with a partially-electrified powertrain. It has the one-year-only-available 18 in machined edge wheels and dual air, also a Grass & Snow mode in the FX4 package. Gonna be precious like a split window Sting Ray. They all laughed at those when they first came out in 1963, nobody liked that look at the time, and GM quickly made the rear backlite one piece for 1964.

Sure, there isn't a Bronco or Mustang EV, but looking at sales of models like Charger, looks like it's a good move to not have them yet... Might be different in various markets, but in middle WI, I haven't seen very many people cross shopping the Maverick and Ranger. They seem like very different buyer groups here. As to any profits, I'd bet that if the Maverick wasn't turning in volume numbers like it does, it'd be on the chopping block. From the dealership perspective, Maverick has financial numbers like the EcoSport did, but it's a vastly more desireable vehicle. If Ford's numbers look like ours, they're not making big bucks off any individual Maverick, but it's thriving because it's an out-of-the-park home run hit. We are starting to see a lot more Ranger shopping because of three factors: 1. Price point on the F-150 has jumped quite a bit. Package to package, feature to feature, the Ranger is a strong value considering what the F-150 clocks in at. 2. Fuel prices... which is a silly reason, since the Ranger doesn't get dramatically better MPG than an F-150. 3. Overall size. I hear a lot of "it's getting harder and harder to park a big truck", and for those who still need to pull more than a small boat/trailer, the Ranger fits (heh) the ticket. 2

Where are your all-electric efforts on what Ford does best, like pickup trucks, vans, Broncos, and Mustangs? I don't see an EV version of the full sized bronco or mustang happening ever, or at least, any time soon. I've thrown out the idea before that it would be neat if Ford wanted to keep expanding the mustang sub brand to have a smaller mustang outside of the s650 that could ride on CE1. Either a coupe or a hatchback. Something that returned to the original spirit of the mustang, great looks, still fun to drive, a ton of customization, and so affordable that anyone who wanted one could have one. Let the larger s650 continue for people who wanted a larger, nicer, faster V8 muscle car, and just have this as an option. It would be a risk, and almost certainly would be a niche seller. But we see how EVs, and affordable vehicles are both appealing to younger buyers, and a lot of those younger buyers are also often drawn to coupes because they're not at a stage in life of needing to haul around a ton of people and stuff yet. So an affordable EV coupe might appeal to them. Plus such a product would give CE1 instant credibility and appeal.

I agree with you DeluxeStang my friend. It's sad. EV version of the full sized bronco or mustang represents Ford's best next big opportunity with EV, perfectly complementing the upcoming CE1 products, and fulfilling Jimbo's own vision: "we’re going to have passion brands; we’re not going to have commodity products like Edges and Escapes. Mustangs and Broncos…good stuff." Yet now Jimbo says he wants to chase Tesla rather than focus on the good stuff for new Ford EV. 🙄

The Supercab GONE...no regular cab either...again IMO they should have a base single cab with an HD payload package, and deleting the supercab with a sub 30k MSRP was , at least to me a glaring mistake, ranks right up there with deleing the 8 ft Supercab HD on the F150...we used to sell a bunch, primariliy to Commercial users, you could put in a cross bed tool box and STILL have 6 1/2 feet of bed. Corporate could probably justify the deletions with pie graphs, I just know what we get requests for, and our Ranger sales specifically, dropped significantly after the omissions.

I respectfully dis-agree...the Ranger is more focused ( at least WAS ) commercially, as cool as a Bronco truck would be, after watching the Gladiators sales plummet ( to the tune of 20 k savings ) Im not sure a viable business case could be made for it...

That helps volume but those aren't profitable versions. And more cheap Rangers means less profitable Broncos.
