2026 Mustang RTR factory package finally on Build + Price

Recommended Posts

Available on the EcoBoost High 101A and EcoBoost Premium 200A and 201A packages. The factory RTR Package adds $6520, the optional RTR Appearance Package adds another $1330 if you're really into Hyper Lime accents. I don't know if they're going to upcharge for the Hyper Lime seat belts - $495 seems to be the going rate for colored seat belts so I'd assume they will.

Weirdly, the RTR packages have NOT been added as of this morning to WBDO, Order Guides, or Pricing Guides. So, I can show a build, but I can't quite actually order one yet.

EDIT - a couple days later it populated to WBDO, Order Guides, and Pricing Guides on the Job 2 release.

I'm in the market for a car to Autocross, Rallycross, and maybe track days too... And I'm underwhelmed.

Did the online "build" and with nothing but the required options the MSRP came to $45K. That means RTRs ordered for dealer stock with more options will be around $50K. Miata isn't quite so fast straight line but better MPG, Toyota 86 damn near as fast, GTI just as fast and brings the practicalities of FWD and a hatch to the party- And they're all priced in $30-40K range. At $50K off the lot the RTR can't compete with the Golf R and Corolla GR hatches that add AWD and Costco cart swallowing capacity and can run away from the RTR and give the Mustang GT a race.

After flopping in the market maybe next year the RTR will be rebated and discounted to $40K and I'll maybe take a test drive.

Just buy something else already, you don't want a Mustang FFS

Not to mention most autocrossers probably buy used.

Yea, don't bother considering a new 2026 Mustang Ecoboost RTR (or any new car, really) if you're evaluating a car to Autocross, Rallycross, and maybe track days too.

My friend in Indianapolis Region SCCA runs a 2017 Fiat 124 Spider Abarth at their autocross events. Other used cars he recommends for proper autocross podium contender are:

  • Mazda Miata ND
  • Mini Cooper R56 and F55 with the B48 engine (S and JCW)
  • Subaru WRX VA
  • Subaru BRZ/Toyota 86 & GR86
  • VW Golf R Mk7
  • BMW M235i/M240i F22

He says that light and compact is his preference for autocross cars, but that if you have to get a pony car his pick would be Chevy Camaro 6G with the 1LE performance package.
