mackinaw
From Autoline Daily. Back in February reports came out saying that Scout Motors would delay production for a year. Scout denied that and then told media at an APA meeting in March that it would start making models in late 2027. But Autoforecast Solutions reports that the Traveler SUV will not go into production at its new assembly plant in South Carolina until September of 2028. And production of the Terra pickup truck will be delayed even longer, until March of 2030. However, it also looks like Scout is giving itself plenty of time to recoup the cost of the Terra. It will stay in production until 2039. By the way, for those of you who like or need to track this sort of thing, Autoforecast Solutions reports that the platform code for these vehicles is SSP B/C. I just looked it up: Drawings of the Camaro was Spring of 2005, Clay model at the Detroit auto Show in January 2006 Production didn't start till February 2009 and went on sale in Summer 2009 Scout: Concepts in 2024, SUV production in September 2028, Truck in 2030 I think Scout is beating the Camaro for the most delayed release of a new product. Just keep things fair: Bronco Ford said it would come back out at the 2017 Detroit Auto show Production model unveiled June 2020 (delayed by COVID) First units in production March 2021
Sherminator98
I wonder if they are delaying the pickup so long due to the negativity that EV pickups have and not being able to sort the EREV setup

This decision follows initial reports in late January 2026 that South Carolina was already $150 million over budget on the project, with officials seeking taxpayer funds to cover the deficit. rmc523
Scout Denies Delay Report Pushing Pickup To 2030, SUV Back Six Months | Carscoops For its part, Scout says nothing has changed on its end and that production remains on schedule, though it does not clarify whether those dates apply to both body styles or just one. “Scout Motors has not spoken with AutoForecast Solutions and we do not have anything additional to share regarding timing beyond what we’ve already announced,” a spokesperson told us. “As we’ve previously shared, initial production is targeted to begin in 2027. We will start producing initial validation vehicles this year. That effort will continue and mature into 2027. We expect customers will begin taking delivery of new Scout vehicles in 2028.” Technically, it’s possible for both of these ends to be correct. Scout could push production from March to later in 2028 and still be on track for customers to get their vehicles that year. Terra production could begin in 2030, too. Here’s to hoping that Scout figures out how to beat even its own estimates.
