rmc523
GMC Jimmy Revival Set As GM's Future Ford Bronco Rival According to GM Authority, the automaker is now revisiting plans to revive the GMC Jimmy, and not as another unibody crossover - but rather, as a proper body-on-frame SUV. GM was reportedly in the midst of working on a new body-on-frame Jimmy several years ago, but ultimately scrapped those plans amid its previous EV push, coupled by stiffening fuel economy and emissions regulations.
twintornados
I may be wrong (not the first time...) but didn't the GMC version start out as Jimny?

From what I remember, the GMC version of K5 Blazer started out as Jimmy (with two m's)
mackinaw
Not surprised. GM has watched Jeep and Bronco walk away with the off-road (lucrative) market. Guess they're tired of siting on the sidelines.

Suzuki has a small vehicle named Jimny. I always thought the Jimmy name was stupid.
T-dubz
A bronco sized Canyon AT4X suv would be pretty cool. Also, if they wanted to go the removable roof route, maybe they could shrink down what they did for the hummer and apply it here too.

Maybe a shrunken version of the current Hummer EV SUV, but with removable roof. GM took the shrink down approach with the Hummer H3 20 years ago. "Jimmy" is/was a nickname for GMC pickups ~50s-60s. I think the name had more cachet for the 60s Jimmy than it does now; doesn't resonate anymore. Maybe Chevrolet's version (there's bound to be one) will be the Master Deluxe?

Then again they could also go with Trailblazer, but IMO my generation knows the two door GM products that where similar to the 1990s Bronco as the Blazer too. We would be the prime target for a product like this.
