At first glance it looks like a Nautilus but the lights are slimmer and the grille is wider. Related? Or what if this was the Rivian-based EV? I think this was the original idea for the 3-row, but Ford went in a bolder direction with the two canceled EVs. I could be wrong though. The proportions imo are where they need to be to make that shape appealing, almost Lamborghini like, as oppose to the Ford which is more like a Prius. I'll disagree - I thought that Saloon thing was ugly, and looked like a dust-buster. 20 minutes ago, lincolnt6 said: About five years ago Lincoln teased an upcoming EV with this image. DeluxeStang
I've sat on this for a long time, but if the project has been cancelled, and the head of Ford's own EV engineering is sharing pics, I assume it's ok to share this now. I won't name my source, but it's legit. I assume this is the Lincoln three row then. It's more conventional than the Ford version which lines up with descriptions. Or this could be the original Ford version before they redesigned it into something more radical, but I doubt that.

I was sceptical at first, assuming it was AI, but doing a google lens search shows it as the banner image for Doug Field's LinkedIn profile. That's the guy in charge of the skunkworks Ford's. So this is probably legit. I'd be curious if people who've seen the design could chime in an confirm if this is it. It's not great, but not as bad as what I had in mind. I wouldn’t have posted it had I not seen that the picture of the finish product wash shown.

Te feeling I get was that people in the clinics were looking for a BEV utility that looked like the CD6 Explorer, not super boxy but more interior space. I always said this thing looked like a mix of a Tesla Model X and Model Y, with a little bit of Polestar 3 and an old Taurus wagon mixed together. This was Ford’s attempt to provide Tesla customers a vehicle with 3 rows of seating.

The side profile isn't the worst thing I've ever seen, but the front looks rough between the droopy front end, odd DRLs, and the weird headlight placement that's super low. I'm curious if the front really was that bad looking or if it looked better from a front 3/4s angle or something.
Andrew L
Would the 3rd row be backwards facing like the original Model S? I don't see forward facing seats working with such a sloped roof line

It's interesting that Ford was going to market this as a crossover. Unless the photo is just distorted somehow, this has more of a sedan/wagon feel. At any rate, Ford was probably correct to cancel this. Ford may have had a hard time selling this to traditional three-row crossover buyers due to the extreme rear slope.

Seeing this image, I think it’s actually the least offensive part of the design (at least profile wise). It’s the rear that really ruins it. The completely vertical back doesn’t flow with the rest of the vehicle. I also think this is a pretty boring design and would have been a huge flop. It’s good that it was canceled. What's interesting is Farley has commented quite a bit one what he calls new blended silhouettes, especially referring to EVs and affordable EVs. Where he said he could see affordable EVs needing new silhouettes that blended things like car and crossover styling into a halfway point between the two to make them more areo efficient but also practical. That's also how he's referred to the skunk truck, calling it a new silhouette instead of a traditional truck design. Time will tell if consumers respond well to this, but I actually don't hate the idea of they try to execute it well moving forward.

It looks like that, blended with the dodge Magnum's wheel arches and like the GTA version of the Ford edge blended into one vehicle.

I guess we’ll never know what the market thought since it never came out.

They would have moved heaven and earth if there was a remote chance of recovering costs.

Yeah, definitely seems low/lean, which is not what most buyers are looking for these days. On a different note, Borg is saying that this product was to be called Ford Aeros. I think it'd have had some initial sales, and then they'd have dried up quickly, with no sales depth.
