Mitsubishi Eclipse Returns.....as Eclipse Sportback EV....rebadge of Nissan Leaf

Recommended Posts

Good News, There’s A New Mitsubishi Eclipse. Bad News, It’s A Rebadged Nissan Leaf | Carscoops

Visually, most people will just see a Leaf wearing Mitsubishi emblems, but the Eclipse Sportback does have a few redesigned bits. Up front, the bumper gets a different grille and horizontal intakes with aerodynamic detailing. Despite the official claims, the LED headlights look awfully close to the Nissan units, the difference being that they aren’t connected by a strip of black trim.

I know the whole Nissan/Renault/Mitsubishi trifecta is in trouble, but geez... this is a poor effort even for them. It's on par with badging the Outlander as a Nissan Rogue Hybrid.

Eh its about the same level of effort that Ford used on Mercury.

At least Mercury was part of the same company lol.

I have to ask - at what point is it worth staying in business if your product lineup becomes a rebadge of another company's products?

I don’t understand how Mitsubishi dealers stay in business.

Brands rebadging other brands cars used to be more common. Heck GM built a whole brand around it.

Mercury was not immune.
