The patent touchscreen looks quite large (not surprising), so I do wonder what the final screen size will be, especially with the rumor that it won't have a normal gauge cluster.

We've already seen the screen in place:

It's possible, but whatever this is looks way too low to be a crossover imo. Those woman are pretty short, and it's noticable than them. Not much to go on, but here's a very small portion of it peaking through this gap.

That could be an escape replacement and it's just an optical illusion that makes it seem lower than it is based on how far away it is, but that doesn't appear to be the case.

I think it's a Steelcase cubby divider that Hackett forgot to take with him. What baffles me is no one mentions the two headed lady!

Yeah, I'm mentally prepared to be like "meh", but also cautiously optimistic that it'll look cool.

Comparing the glimpses we've seen, I'd say yes, that's it.....look at the view of the corner of the drivers dash from the one video Ford released.....and then compare it to that patent sketch....it looks the same with the arched dash with the upright piece at the base of the windshield.  You can also see the square vent (or speaker) cutout on both

Bold of Ford to finally commit to a cartoonishly large red eject button in every car.

They added a new QR code smack dab in the middle of the door. I wonder if it just links to the existing promo material, or if it's something new

Good question - for some reason, the article only had the two pictures (or I guess whoever found it only took the two).

Weird that Ford would move from Sync's systems to Google on the "Ford Digital Experience" in the gas vehicles, and then run to Apple for the UEV.

As long as Android Auto isn't blocked/not supported, it'll be OK. Other than, as I was thinking on the road yesterday, any BlueCruise type features are tied to onboard maps rather than fed maps. Wonder how that will all integrate at this poing.

Apple Maps to Power the Navigation Experience for the Ford Universal Electric Vehicle Platform

Meh not a fan of Apple Maps, but I haven't used in sometime, so maybe I'll have to try it again.

I used it once years ago and it got me lost (like other side of town lost) and haven't used it since.  I have an iPhone, though.

I have to imagine they'll still have CarPlay available to use other methods like Google or Waze.   This is sounding like the native/standard option on the thing is Apple Maps.

Maybe it has to do with the Apple guy heading the program as something he was familiar with?

So so did some digging into this, apparently Apple is launching MapKit Automotive SDK, which this based on-it allows users to make modifications to Apple Maps for their own use. So I'm guessing this is something like the Navigation system that is in Sync 3/4 but that is connected to the internet via your phone for updates/Navigation.

The Ford Digital Experience would still allow you to use Android Auto or CarPlay, so you can use Waze or Google maps-just this system allows closer integration with the cars system

Apple Maps is worlds better than it used to be. It has become my day to day go to the last couple years. The map detailing in metro areas is slightly better than google.

“Ford will also use road-level information from Apple Maps as part of the development of its next-generation BlueCruise hands-free highway driving capability to deliver a more seamless on-ramp-to-off-ramp experience.“

This could be huge for Bluecruise.

Exactly my thoughts also. Seems like the duplication will be more costly.

But every time I read something like this it reminds me of GM dropping support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. That is going to be a dealbreaker for a lot of potential GM buyers.

No this is just the replacement of the navigational system that would come with the car and allow deeper integration with the API Apple has with its Map for better EV routing etc.

I don’t think the actual Ford infotainment system is changing, but stand by to be corrected.

Got it. That makes sense. That makes me wonder if Apple will be the native nav system in all Fords? Google probably not happy about this direction.

This image also briefly flashes on the screen like the previous “Made you look!” Binary and plane ticket.

Guess the bike on there hints at the patent images of a bike rack in the bed.
