rmc523
I think we're seeing remnants of the T3 lightning with these, along with bits of Fathom thrown in. I'm skeptical of Fathom having a full front "tailgate", as it'd be extra components (hood + frontgate) over just a regular frunk opening (with or without the attached "grille" area), but could be wrong. DeluxeStang
44 minutes ago, Zestyg said: its because the patent features a recessed hood surface that is lower than the actual hood. This is what it would look like if you raised it up (I added a dip in the middle like the skunkworks tarp pic) Who knows, maybe it will have a air bridge style hood vent like Sherm mentioned awhile back. That would be a really cool styling and aero piece alike.

I think styling wise the fathom is gonna resemble what t3 would have been, just on a smaller scale.

Yeah I was more focused on the shape of the truck frankly. There are only so many was to make a truck aerodynamic. You are actually probably right though, compared to the earlier images of the Fathom we have this thing is proportionately much longer than the Fathom. But they are probably similarly shaped. Willwll313wll
Well looking at where the a pillar lands on the mule, behind the front axle, almost aligned with the back of the front tire as oppose to the patent images where the a pillar is ALMOST aligned with the middle of the front axle. Fathom is a lot less cab forward.

Willwll313wll
Sorry guys, I wish it had the cab forward look of that patent though lol

Exactly why I said that the patent drawings are likely a mash up of T3 Lightning and Fathom elements

Even in this pic, I think the windshield could still be covered by camo a bit which would push that line even further forward.

I think We're looking at the A-Pillar, not the start of the windshield, which is curved so even more difficult to see where it actually lands in relation to the front wheel, as opposed to the A-pillar which is right next to the wheel. Either way, even the windshield isn't as far forward as in the patent, according to your vertical line. I do think a more cab-forward look would be cooler and sleeker but just dont think we're getting one AS DRAMATIC as the patent. To your point, maybe it will retain some of that look with the windshield curved forward. Really excited to see this thing uncovered. I was thinking the same thing. Also possible that the patent is a very generic version of Fathom. Not accurate to proportions. Below is a pic of the Aeros. I think we are going to see something similar to this on the fathom. The A pillar extends past the side view mirror and ends around the edge of the wheel well and the windshield extends several inches further. I agree with rmc that this is not the fathom in the drawings, it looks like a larger truck.

That very well could be the case.
rmc523
CEO Jim Farley Says Ford Fathom Production Might Not Happen In 2027 In a recent interview with Automotive News, Ford CEO Jim Farley admitted that the automaker is still working through some kinks as it pertains to UEV production, which could impact the launch of the Ford Fathom. “We haven’t landed the plane on mass production of UEV yet,” Farley said. “It’s going to be a heck of an effort to launch this at scale, at cost, on time.”

You know what that means. 😄 Jimbo mentioned more than once that UEV product launch is an Apollo style mission with little margin for error. Nothing less than "at scale, at cost, on time" is acceptable. You can bet Ford's "air traffic controllers" are hard at work figurin' out how to "land the plane on mass production of UEV."
