The Chrysler Airflow, a new mid-sized CUV codenamed C4U, will be built at the Belvidere assembly plant in Illinois. Next up, the new version of the Chevrolet Equinox EV is scheduled to go into production in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico in February, 2029. It moves off the BEV3 platform onto a new one code-named BEV-N. And a new Ford Bronco will come on line in January, 2030. It stays on the same platform, but the program code-name changes to U-825. And it will continue to be made at Ford’s Michigan Assembly plant. While obviously not easy to do right, borrowing the styling elements from the original was an "easy" start point. I don't see them looking at the larger 2nd gen for inspiration (just a box with square everything). I guess the question is how close do they stay to the more retro look vs. modernizing it..... It’s probably going to be just a “heavy” refresh. Just try to improve the roof options, tech, etc. I definitely see a hybrid of some kind along with blue cruise. It would surprise me if we don’t see it before this new 2030 version. That’s a long time to wait given that the T6 platform already has the Ranger PHEV (for ROW). Yea, if the Ford big shots want to do the multi energy thing with next gen Bronco, the ideal powertrain lineup for next gen Bronco would be: gasoline only engine Powerboost (regular hybrid, non plug-in) Electric with range extender gasoline engine (similar to current Chinese Bronco New Energy EREV) Pure electric (similar to current Chinese Bronco New Energy BEV) The last two should be good competition for Jeep Recon 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Personally always thought 2nd gen was the coolest, but I agree with the new one.. keep it the size it is and retro inspired. It would have to move to F150 platform to be 2nd gen inspired. We’re kind of getting there. We have the Bronco Sport and it sounds like the Bronco Pickup is coming. Then you have several flavors in China if you want to count them and some also coming for Europe.
