Fake news!  They haven't confirmed whether Canyorado gets the new 2.7L and even with it Ranger Raptor still has more power (that's the exception).  Clickbait.

Both the 2027 Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon are getting the new, L4B version of the turbocharged 2.7L I-4 engine, replacing the outgoing L3B. Now, output figures have been released for that engine - the sole offering for the new model year - and it comes in at 350 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque - increases of 40 horsepower and 25 pound-feet over the outgoing model. That's also 35 horsepower and 55 pound-feet more than the most potent Ford Ranger one can buy at the moment.

What's particularly interesting about those figures is the fact that they're identical to the output of the L4B engine present as the standard engine in the new Silverado and Sierra, too. However, the mid-sizers come with GM's eight-speed automatic transmission, while the full-size trucks get the 10-speed automatic. Also interesting is the fact that max payload and towing remain unchanged from 2026, in spite of this power increase - with towing topping out at 7,700 pounds.

I was going by the original article that said IF they offer the new one in Canyorado so they weren't sure.  But 405 is way more hp than 350 and claiming something is the most powerful except for this other one is the epitome of stupid reporting.

They'll "respond" with a new F-150 (2028?), followed by new Super Duty (2029?), and "F-100" (2029-2030???).  I don't really see them doing much until then aside from tinkering with packages like we saw with new base Raptor trims and stuff like that.

So the 5.7 has 402/428 while Ford's lowly 5.0 has 400/410 with less displacement.  And they have 5.0 versions with 480 and 500hp in the mustang.  Not impressed.

And the 6.6 seems totally unnecessary in a half ton (as would the ford 6.8) and just seems to be for bragging rights.

Agreed with all that.

But, a 2.7L I4 with 355/455 is pretty impressive.  That's more torque (and 130 more HP) than a 7.3L '97 PowerStroke diesel.

I assume the larger pistons deliver more torque but can't rev as high as the ecoboost 2.7 V6 with smaller pistons.  Not a bad tradeoff for a truck engine.

I wonder how much Ford has left in the 2.3L MPC Ecoboost, in the Mustang, it makes 315HP/350

  • 310 hp (231 kW; 314 PS) at 5500 rpm, 320–350 lb⋅ft (434–475 N⋅m) at 3000 rpm, 9.5:1 compression ratio
  • 330 hp (246 kW; 335 PS) at 6000 rpm, 350 lb⋅ft (475 N⋅m) at 3000 rpm, 9.37:1 compression ratio
  • 350 hp (261 kW; 355 PS) at 6000 rpm, 350 lb⋅ft (475 N⋅m) at 3200 rpm
  • 325–405 hp (242–302 kW; 330–411 PS) at 6000 rpm, 317–369 lb⋅ft (430–500 N⋅m) at 3200 rpm
  • 395 hp (295 kW; 400 PS) at 6200 rpm, 369 lb⋅ft (500 N⋅m) at 3000-3500 rpm
  • 493 hp (368 kW; 500 PS), 516 lb⋅ft (700 N⋅m)

Yeah but those higher strung engines in a performance vehicle might not translate well to every day use as a truck motor.

The 2027 Order Guide is still showing 310hp for both the Colorado & Canyon.

A few more would be nice but 19 seems like overkill

Sure.  I didn't read about where they all are.....I wonder if it was 19 views (meaning one camera, but fish eye vs. zoom vs. normal = 3?)?

For instance, on Bronco, there are certain camera views that are only available in rock mode.  Like why?  just give me access regardless of drive mode....

That doesn't necessarily directly answer my question (I don't think we know).

From the descriptions, it sounds like it may use a few cameras for multiple of those views......so just because there are 19 "views" doesn't mean there's 19 cameras.

Similar to how Ford uses the rear camera to do backup plus overhead 360 view plus a towing zoom.....3 views off 1 camera.

19 views, 11 cameras including 2 underbody.  Way too many when only 3 or 4 will actually get used.

I could see 8 cameras making sense:

Front

Left side

Right side

Tailgate backup

Rear cab (bed)

Rear cab (mirror)

Under body (front)

Under body (rear)

Not sure where the other three would be?
