xXBucktoothgeekXx if you really want know how anything I do is doing just come up and ask me, but for your info my golf outting went great. Yes I had 1 team not show. Still had a great time, and no it did not cost me ANY monies. If you'd like, go ask anyone that attended the outting, see what they have to say about it. Sorry I had to give you the bad news, but heres the best part. I'm already getting asked when I will hold another outting. I crack up reading all this muck people write. No guts to say it to anyones face, just talk abunch without backing it up. Unlike others I will let my record or the way I do my job speak for me. If the membership decides to re-elect me, I will be there to help any member to the best of my ability. This membership is a good smart group of people that will decide who has backed them up or let them down. As you can see I also won't hide behind a screen name. I was taught better by my parents to stand up, And face my actions good or bad. Now go pout in the corner and have a nice day.

:happy feet: :happy feet: Thanks for making my point. The point that I HEARD about no shows at your outing. Same as Truth saying he HEARD that Jamie didnt work at Avon. Frankly, I could care less about how your outing went. Knew one of you would answer, you guys just cant resist. :hysterical::hysterical:

What point were you making other than to show that you are brain dead.As for gate collections I personally only donate to causes like "THE CURE FOR CANCER"etc. So talk about something that we are all concerned about like the mess the plant is in.

Resist? You are the one who brought up me.Look how many post I have to yourself. What, you don't want me to answer back to something that was questioned on me? If not, then leave me out of this. I will say this. You all make me laugh.

Your feeding the trolls Mike. I voted for you but am disappointed that you would brag about the very golf outings that the membership bitches about, even if it is to put bucktooth in his place.

Furious I wasn't trying to,or was meaning to. Just they questioned something on me. Honestly I hate this crap.

This is the future of politics though whether it be in plant, or more predominately in govenment. People are more widely turning to the internet to get their news to avoid media bias, it's harder to propagate lies when what we here and see is not controlled by just a few people! The political parties are now having trouble dealing with the fact that Joe Schmoe has a forum in which to express opinions that before went ignored! The Democrats are now pandering to public forums like moveon.org because they know that the internet is now being used to side step lobbyists that give them campaign contributions, it's giving the power back to the people. Future world leaders will now be decided on the internet rather than in the media, and it's about time the people regain control. I admire your confrontational posture and it is what makes a good leader, but don't let others provoke you to tarnish your own reputation. People like me will shred lies and agendas for you! Almost everyone on here is interested in finding the truth, and the ones who propagate lies are exposed through the same process! I had a rep from the Deerborn launch team in my area, and I was telling him how I had discovered many bloggers that are paid by imports to disparage our products on this and other forums I blog on. I said Ford should do the same and he said something that will stick with me forever! He said "You should never lay in the mud and wrestle with a pig, because you both get dirty but only the pig loves it!"

Hey Michael!! This is Dave, let you refresh your memory......transfered to KC in 2005 and brought you back the Harley Shirt, worked in Tylers zone installing y-pipes. Now that you remember, I can see things surely haven't changed one bit up there! Wow, the people just don't realize who and what they have with you representing them! I know that when I was there, I voted for you and there where many of the fellow workers that spoke VERY highly of you to me since I didn't have a hell of a lot of contact with you. They will realize what they really had once you are gone, hope that never happens. Sure wish you was down here in KC! They really need a REAL example of a person that can negotiate for the workers! :banghead: We love it here, very nice part of the country and offers a lot to do. Well just had to get in there and say my peace. Take care up there brother and tell your sister Mary hello for me! Later

I just want to blow off some steam here real quick! Tonight at the plant there was an employee who was griping about working. It was quoted that they "hated this place and everyone in it", and "i'm only back to get a little more money then I'm going back on medical". I am more than disgusted to hear such crap being said from a fellow member. How ungrateful are you anyway? I'm sorry but with everything going on right now with contract and our future plans and not to mention the political virus spreading like wildfire, that we would hear such a thing being said. I believe that it's people like you taking advantage of the system that have contributed to some of the problems we are facing right now. You certainly aren't helping them either. There is nothing physically wrong with you and you know it. I feel that you are just being lazy and selfish. Stop thinking of yourself and start thinking of your family instead. No one is forcing you lazy turds to work. If you don't like your job then maybe you should have taken a buyout! Or better yet you should just leave! If you don't want to be here, then we don't want you here either. It's a damn shame to have something good like that and act like a juvenile about it when I can think of about 150+ temps that would love to have your job! We're trying to move forward! We don't need the extra weight to pull. You people know who you are. You should really wake up or (grow up) and see the big picture, and not your little sketch! Come with us or get the hell out of the way!

He was a Safety guy in Lorain. He's alright for doing backup safety or whatever but he doesn't know a thing about the contract. He doesn't even know as much about the contract as the worst committeeman. He's a nice enough guy but the fact remains he doesn't have the experience or knowledge to run for chairman. He needs to start out by getting elected committeeman fulltime first before he goes for chairman.

He was a committeeman in Lorain and a damn good one. Never backed down to management while a committeeman. I thought he was a good H&S Rep also.

Brother, our experiences were very different then. I'm glad that he was effective for you but it was a different story for me and some others. Like I said, he wasn't a bad Safety guy but he was not a good committeeman for me. I don't think it was that he didn't want to be he just didn't know anything about the contract. Plain and simple. We need a guy who knows that contract backwards and forwards. Robert isn't that guy. Nice guy and all but just don't have what it takes.

Heard that he was doing that [giving out hotdogs] and that Nick made the company stop him from doing it.As far as my experience of him as a union rep 'he was at best average. Some liked him some didn't. He is reaching above his ability in trying to run for chairman. Can you afford on the job training for this position I have to agree that he does't know a lot about contract Talk to others from Lorain you will find that most will say what I am saying that he's in above his head.

I got a call this evening about this letter that was put out so I went back to the plant to post it here:

This is on company letterhead and is dated October 15, 2007

TO ALL EMPLOYEES:

This is to inform you of an upcoming down week beginning October 22 due to a shortage of Han Kook tires.

There is a potential need for an additional down week before year end, but that is yet to be finalized. As soon as this date is confirmed, it will be communicated to you. Tentatively we are asking for the week of November 26, but this subject to change.

There are plenty of customer orders, but it is a mix issue: there are many requests for E-250s/350s with Han Kiik tire options. Our Product Development engineers are working hard to certify Michelin tires as a possible future alternative to the Han Kook tires. They are currently going through the testing phase, and hope to get this approved by late December.

For your information we expect to have a very busy six months beginning next year because of the healthy order bank. Of course, this is assuming all the suppliers can keep up with demand.

We will keep you abreast of any changes/updates as they are received.

Signed by

Joe Lee (Plant Manager) Nick Gallogly (UAW Plant Chairman)

*If you have any questions, please remember that there is a union meeting this Sunday and I'm sure that the Union structure can answer them at that time.

Reading of Previous Meetings Minutes – passed

Executive Board Recommendations to the Membership – passed

Executive Board Recommendations to the Membership – concurrence

Financial Report – accepted

President’s Report:

The GM agreement passed by 66%. Tim briefly went over a few of the highlights/details of the agreement. It is his opinion that the International will move quickly into talks with Ford. Strike duty assignments will be posted on the Local website. Appointed and elected representatives will be picket captains. He asked that in the event of a strike that all E-Board members be available immediately. Flu shots will be available at the hall on November 8th from 9:30a.m.-6:00p.m. He thanked the volunteers for JDRF for helping raise $9600. The Lorain County Labor Agency will be having a bus for a casino trip on November 4. The Susan G. Kolman gate collection raised $2,659.49 for breast cancer research. The Feed the Hungry boxes are in the plant. There will be a gate collection for that on November 16th. The Veterans Committee will be holding their annual gate collection for Homeless Veterans on November 2.

Chairman’s Report:

The order bank is at 24,000 units. There was a letter posted in the plant regarding an upcoming down week. This will take place the week of October 22nd. There will be an additional down week that they are trying to have scheduled for either the week after Thanksgiving or the week before Christmas. The company has been laying off the TFTs/TPTs. There are now 140 that have been let go. The rebalance is not going well for the company. There is no news on the negotiations. In regards to the National Negotiations and newly ratified contract with GM, Nick wanted to talk about the bad parts of the contracts. He said that the COLA will be $0.69 total for the next four years and the rest will be deferred to the VEBA account. He said he also had questions on how the two tier wage system would work. He said that it looked like only “hands on build” employees would receive full wages. He said that all the other jobs were gone. The 5,000 that were being hired from temporary to permanent status under GM would be hired in at the current wages and could immediately bid on jobs. All others hired in after this contract ratification would be hired in at lesser wages. He said he was really concerned about the trades as some of them might actually be working on the line. He gave the example of the front end machine. He said there are currently 3 operators on the job. After the contract there would be two production employees and one tradesman. He said that if the machine broke down, the tradesman on the operation would fix it with the other two operators and his “helping hands”.

Regarding the Feed the Needy food drive, Nick said that last year, 187 families were helped, including the children from Huron in the caged kids’ case.

We ran out of looms last week and had to short shift. He said this was due to the fact that they came from a different country and were shipped to customs on Columbus Day and therefore nothing was moved through customs. He said it didn’t seem to make much business sense in the long run when you looked at how much money was lost due to short shifting.

On the rebalance, the company has had to put in more containment people than jobs they have taken out. They have outsourced the rebalance in a sense to TPT Industries. They are paying this engineering service $650,000 every six months to look at the rebalance. This is for 5 engineers. So far John Pena and Penny have had to go back and fix what they have done.

Nick referenced the moratorium on plant closings. He said that there was a clause that pretty much nullified that moratorium. He said that plants slated for closure would only be kept open if made business sense. Otherwise the company had the right to close any plants.

Other reports:

CBTU report:

Jerome Howard said they were holding meetings and now had 14 members. He said that if you wanted to be a member you could contact someone on the committee or go to CBTU.org for information on how to join. President of the committee is Jerome Howard, Tony Seely is Vice President, Brenda Davis is Financial Secretary, Laura Jones is Recording Secretary.

Women’s Committee:

Angela thanked the membership for their support of the breast cancer gate collection. She raffled off a t-shirt which was won by Ray Robles.

Shop Problems:

Terry Milan complained about the congestion in the brake hole and off rolls. He said that there were problems with junk going down the CAL line and said vehicles were piling up that needed repairs. He said that they were storing units in the yard and trying to bring them back in which just added to the confusion and congestion. He asked if would take someone being killed or hurt to get it resolved. He also said there was no communication between the shifts regarding containment methods. He referred to the Body Shop and said that one of the problems was with machinery not being repaired. Linda Hall said that was the reason that she shut down the flat top on Friday night. She said they were down for 40 minutes to clean things up. She said the repainting had helped in the area but it was getting bad again. Brian Mitchell said that if it was unsafe, don’t move! He said the people had to speak up as well. Linda said that if it can’t be moved, don’t move it. Just STOP! Terry said that the problem was that they weren’t going back to wherever the problem was originating from. He said that most of management was from Detroit and they wanted this plant closed so they could go back to Detroit. He said it was all over the floor and that the union just had to come out and see for themselves. He said they wanted it to go to the Rouge facility. Nick Gallogly said that would get with the company regarding this. He said the murphies should be fixed on the dead line and not be getting out of the body shop. He said that conditions were unsafe, then don’t move units. He said he would be speaking to Joe Lee and Darryl Sykes. Judy Massel said that things were just as bad on days. If they got a skip management would tell them to bring in units from outside. She said that some units had been brought back in multiple times. The congestion is terrible. Jay Kiska said that the Group Leaders in the Body Shop on nightshift had found a way to contain the issue and that they had a board at the end of the line to document issues that needed to be contained. He said that the problem with the murphies was that they were drilling the holes a little larger to make up for the murphies being off location and the trim operators were upset and just jamming the parts in and the murphies were popping off.

Jennifer Bores said that there open jobs on days in Trim. She asked if nightshift had the right to bump. She was told they did if they had open jobs. She referenced the right side door rubber job and the front headliner job as being two of those jobs. She said she had talked to Barb Rhinehart and was told that she couldn’t afford to lose 3 people right now. Nick said if the jobs were open the employees wouldn’t have to wait. He said that Jennifer was number 7 on the shift preference list. She said she was number 3. He said that if there were only two jobs open then she still wouldn’t make it to days. Jennifer said that TPTs and TFTs were holding jobs. Nick said that containment jobs were not base jobs and there were some TFTs on jobs replacing people on short term medical. None of those were considered open jobs. One brother mentioned that they were still waiting for some jobs to be bid. Paul Triplett said that there 5 relief jobs open but that 3 were going to be balanced out so only 2 were posted. Mary Springowski asked what was going on with the E-Coat scuff lab. She said they had borrowed a person from trim who had a relief cycle. She said they had been told by their committeeman that it would only be for a couple of weeks and it was turning into a couple of months and that one of the jobs needed to be bid. Nick said that the E-coat scuff lab was supposed to be outsourced and that the company had not yet provided the union with the paperwork so the job would be temporarily bid. Mary said that the company was getting around posting job bids by temporarily placing people on jobs. She referenced the Group Leader job on three line, the inspector jobs on three line and the door fitter job in pretrim. She said this was done to subrogate the contract. Nick asked why this was being allowed and Mary said the company was doing it because the union wasn’t stopping them. Paul Triplett said that in June there were 7 relief jobs posted and one of them was for electrical. The question was raised about group leaders losing spots by being balanced out. Nick said they would go to available work in their department.

Motion was made to extend shop problems.

The question was raised about the temporary clean up jobs. These jobs were bid. It was asked if they were going to do the same for stock. Nick said they were trying. Questions were raised about a class for in plant licenses.

Jerome Howard said that because of the strictures of the COA which hadn’t taken effect that people weren’t being allowed to make moves in stock. He said that Pete Shimrock had said that all movement on jobs was frozen. Nick said not to believe everything that Pete Shimrock said. He asked Michael Donovan about this. Michael said that no jobs were frozen. He said that because of the COA, dock jobs were temporary postings. He said normal moves were not frozen. Paul Triplett said that the lift driver classification was red circled and he didn’t want to overload that classification. He said that the jobs would be opened up. Nick said that there were 30 jobs in stock that would be bid temporarily and that the people would have the right to come back to their jobs. He said this would be done in two waves. The question was raised as to how long was temporary? No one really knows.

Royal Young asked about the National agreements. He said he needed a better understanding. Especially with the trades portion of the agreement. He asked if production workers were being replaced with Skilled Tradesmen. Nick said that was his understanding. Royal asked what would happen if he couldn’t get the machine fixed. Nick told him that outside contractors would be available to assist.

Terry Milan asked about temporary repair work in the garage. He is on a wrap job. He said they got rid of a job in the pit on the water line and moved it over to the CAL line. He said that the company was having the drivers inspect the stripped jobs. He said they had 8 drivers and still couldn’t keep up. Brian Mitchell said they had to work at a normal rate of pace. Nick and Brian both said that if the people couldn’t keep up it was the company’s problem, not theirs. Mitch said that if we had more of our seniority people out in the garage this wouldn’t be happening.

Jack asked about his training as a BEHR operator. He said the training was rather ambiguous. He said Rick Gregory was supposed to be training him. He was classified but he was on the job. Nick said that he shouldn’t worry about it and keep training until he felt comfortable to take the test. Then he would be classified.

Mary Springowski said that due to all the confusion surrounding the actual meaning of what was in the agreements with GM and Chrysler that when Ford reaches an agreement with the UAW that the membership be given ample time to go over the language with a fine tooth comb so a to be able to formulate questions for when the International came to the local to sell us a bill of goods. Tim and Nick both said that they gave GM a week and a half. Mary said she still wanted it to be on record. She referred to the podcast of the interview that Ron Gettelfinger did with Paul W. on WJR 760 AM. She said that Gettelfinger said he would make ALL the language changes available to the membership and she was going to hold him to his word. She moved that on the Local and National Agreements that the membership be given all the language of the agreements and be given ample time to review these agreements. Motion passed unanimously. She said this was critical to our job security and our future. She wanted all the language to be made available. There was then further discussion regarding in plant licenses. Motion made to adjourn.

Clyde Hamilton won the $25.00 drawing.

You "LORAIN/OHIO ASSEMBLY" folk can't take on serious topics! Why hasn't anyone commented on the latest Ford/UAW news reports. Is this topic to serious for you people! You complain and conflict with each other over trivial issues, but when something serious is released you people are as quiet as church mice! Why not take a stand when it really matters!!!

"Workers at the Ohio Assembly Plant did ratify a competitive operating agreement, but a source said the plant is still uncompetitive."

On the bubble:

These Ford assembly plants have been targeted for possible closure:

Wayne Stamping and Assembly Plant: Wayne; Focus

"Ohio Assembly Plant, Avon Lake, Ohio; E-series vans"

Chicago Assembly Plant: Chicago; Taurus, Taurus X, Mercury Sable

St. Thomas Assembly: St. Thomas, Ontario; Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis

Please remember that our union meeting is this coming Sunday, November 4th. Here are a few hogs-oops- I mean issues that will probably be coming up

These are just in Trim -

Why hasn't the door fit job been posted and bid out?

Why did they just pick someone to be trained as a torque inspector instead of taking a senior classified inspector?

Why haven't the open inspection jobs been filled yet?

In stock, why have they been bumping people nights when they have to borrow from production to fill jobs?

WHY? This is the company and the union's way of circumventing seniority and doing whatever the hell it is they want! Contract smontract! And it hasn't even started to get as bad as it's going to get, trust me!
