A connection with 9/11 was never used as justification for invasion, so this isn't earthshattering news.
Speeches leading up to the invasion:

http://georgewbush-whitehouse.archives.gov...0030226-11.html
Associations with terrorist orgnanizations are used as justification, but not connections to the 9/11 attack.
Not only do these guys not know what happened, if they'd done their homework they would have found this:
Q Mr. President, Dr. Rice and Secretary Rumsfeld both said yesterday that they have seen no evidence that Iraq had anything to do with September 11th. Yet, on Meet the Press, Sunday, the Vice President said Iraq was a geographic base for the terrorists and he also said, I don't know, or we don't know, when asked if there was any involvement. Your critics say that this is some effort -- deliberate effort to blur the line and confuse people. How would you answer that?
THE PRESIDENT: We've had no evidence that Saddam Hussein was involved with the September 11th. What the Vice President said was, is that he has been involved with al Qaeda. And al Zarqawi, al Qaeda operative, was in Baghdad. He's the guy that ordered the killing of a U.S. diplomat. He's a man who is still running loose, involved with the poisons network, involved with Ansar al-Islam. There's no question that Saddam Hussein had al Qaeda ties.

They're clueless and are 6 years to the party.
They certainly implied it.

All done to scare people into supporting an illegal war.
Cheney is scared..

I wish they'd hurry up and charge this asshole with war crimes already, it's sickening hearing Dick Cheney out there trying to re-write history and the gullible dupes who eat it up..

It makes a hell of a lot more sense than 'let's just do it to piss of blueblood and the 50 other people in North America that fantasize about Ford of Europe cars' because, if anything, not dropping in the 2.5 6 speed into the TC is the same move as not importing the Eurofocus.
Yea, that's exactly what I said..

It's not hard to believe packages won't be transferred.
Yup, that one has holes drilled for injectors, an injected Boss or Coyote in a 65 Mustang with one of those single plane intakes would be far beyond amazing.. I'm sure the aftermarket will take to these engines fast..
-
Any one who thinks of the BOSS as a small block obviously has not seen one !
As I said before, this project has been on again, off again, at least 3 time. During one of it resurrections it was know as "Big Bore".
I think he meant the Coyote as the small block, and the Boss as the big block.
I can see a single plane intake/carbed Boss motor in next years ford racing catalog, would make an awesome swap for old cars, same for a similar carbed Coyote motor..

Oh fer crying out loud, if you're going to use a bad font color, at least use one that has some contrast with the background!
RJ, look like you missed one!

Because we already have a Focus.
US: Focus
EU: Focus
US: ZILCH
EU: Transit Connect
See the rather significant difference there?
Is that what Ford said their reason is?
-
That's too bad, Ford usually brings out some cool cars to cars and coffee, back in March they had the Fiesta and the new Ka there. I hope they continue doing so even without the building.
-
perhaps...but it hasn't quelled interest in my office from those with COMMERCIAL needs.....
I think the people that buy those fugly Honda Elements would be interested in it too, it has way more utility, looks a million times better, and is a superior vehicle in every way. The Sprinter seems to be pretty popular around here, I think a smaller version will do well for those not wanting such a giant van.
-
BECAUSE THE DANG THING'S BEING REPLACED IN A YEAR AND A HALF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Geez. Ford's got nothing better to do than throw millions into a low volume Turkish import that's being replaced in about 18 months.
THEN WHY NOT IMPORT THE EURO-SPEC FOCUS HERE SINCE WE'RE NOT GETTING IT FOR ANOTHER 2 YEARS??? PEOPLE SAY WE SHOULDN'T BECAUSE A NEW ONE IS ON THE WAY IN 2011, BUT THEY ARE DOING IT WITH THE TRANSIT!!!
-
As Nick said, it doesn't make sense for them to ship the 2.5 over, teach the plant people there how to install it for the short time they'll be producing it for US consumption. Isn't production supposed to begin here relatively soon (like the next couple years, if that) ? I'd think when production shifts here, you'll see new, more efficient and powerful powertrains.
Don't you think it's a wise business move to start selling new vehicles with the right powertrain on day 1, one of these days? I'm just sick of always waiting until next year to get the new/improved engines. And it gives Ford a black eye in the press, and we know perception rules, and if you want to change people's minds about American cars, doing things the old way isn't going to cut it.

Your Focus does not have a 4.10 final drive ratio, so the Transit Connect can actually carry a significant load, especially in urban areas. The poor little engine just screams at highway speed, which is why the highway fuel economy is so bad.
My Focus has a 3.92 I believe, I know it's 3.90 something, and I've got a better geared 5-speed, so the marginal FD ratio is lost with a 4 speed auto.
Concur, especially when better alternatives are available.I just don't want to see it get bad reviews as I really like the vehicle.
-
Let's try looking at what the review actually said:
He asserted that it would be strained if it was loaded to the max. Otherwise, he said it responded obediently. No mention at all of it being strained even unloaded.
He then goes on to say:
In other words, he didn't think the lack of power would be of any concern to the target customer.
This motor makes the same power as my Focus, but it weighs far more, is much less aerodynamic, and is only available with a 4-speed auto. And my Focus is painfully under-powered.
I can't imagine this thing with a heavy load.
It just makes no sense to sell a vehicle with such a marginal powertrain, even less to defend that move.
-
How many companies buy these for acceleration? What feels strained to an auto journalist is not necessarily so to a delivery company.
Who said anything about acceleration?
It's about being able to drive a vehicle without constantly having to beat on it to get it moving, which also happens of waste a lot of fuel. I don't know why they just don't put the Fusions 2.5/six-speed combo in it..

The first line of the first paragraph of the sales release:
Maybe you didn't read that far down?
So that means dealers aren't giving any? Every dealer I pass by I see them, my comment was based on my experience, and in response to the comment implying G8 sales are only high due to "incentives". It's like some people just can't admit to themselves that it's an incredible car, and an incredible value even at full price. This isn't a political forum or a college class, do I need to footnote my posts to be accepted here now?

Good Lord you people are uptight..
Where are these "facts"?

technically we are a democratic republic...so the majority does not always win. there are many checks and balances to prevent such things in this country, and prevent mob rule. Look at the voting process, a nominee for say president can get the popular (majority) vote and yet through the system set up not win the elctroal college. Just an example, not to go off topic.
Both sides think they are right. So why should I believe you when I feel oposite?
The problem I see is this. The government does not follow a religion, it is secular. The government is not based on morals but laws. Somelaws are similar to what religious people feel are morals, however morals are a view point of a group and not law. There are many things I think are imoral, but are techincally very legal. Leave morals out of this. This is a totally secular issue. If within a religion straigh people want to call it marriage fine, and if they want to be married in legal state terms, then other groups have the same right. If your saying that gays should be happy with a civil union for the state to recognize then so will straight people. Otherwise one party is getting prefential treatment. Courts have upheld that it's not constitutional to have seperate and equal rights or systems because they are not equal.
No different than the equal rights movement. Many people were not wanting their kids in schools with black kids, or using the same pool, or etc. Courts upheld this to be wrong. How is the issue of gay people wanting the same rights different than black people wanting the same rights? It's rather similar I think.
As for kids and teaching homosexuality in school. I think some folks here are getting their pantys in a bunch here. NO one is telling them to be gay, no one is showing them porn. Picture books about hypothetical gay families are not hurting them. As for a referenece to a book someone else made, check the age group. It was highschool kids. I guarentee by that age, all highschool kids know about sex, and some probably are quite active. I'd say most of the boys by that age look at porn, jack off and who knows what else goes on...so I don't think it's too mature for them I was a teenage boy once too, I knew what was going on long before then anyway.
Schools curiculum is based on proven factual data. Math is based on principles and rules. so is science, english, etc. The bible although many of you believe in, is not a scientific or factual book. It's no more scientific than novels read in english class are works of science. It's full of contradictory information and ideas, most of which I believe to be alegories and lessons, not to be taken literally.. What I find funny is how many members here forget the passages about not juding others, and treating everyone as you would like to be treated. Yes there are passages about homosexuality that could be construed as negative, however there are passages about christ befriending and standing up for prostitutes and criminals and the list goes on. If you have never sinned then you can call me a sinner for being gay, but somehow I guess you forgot those parts. Too many churches have twised the bible to say what they want through thousands of years of editing and illiteracy on the masses part in order to fit their agenda. And it still goes on today. And God did not write the book, people did, and years after Christs death.
I don't understand the severe homophobia the most, and the preoccupation with sexual practices. Thats what really amuses me. I see straight couples making out and I don't get my pantys all in a bunch over it. I see a straight couple get married and say thats sweet, not eew look at the guy and girl kiss thats revolting. Gay people are not asking to do anything different than you, one couple, comitted, and loving. As one memeber said the world is not going to end.
Well said..

Another reason not to have free trade, we should be making most everything here.

Shame we don't get it in Europe as an Escort
Be happy you get the non-dumbed down Euro version..

Think about those G8 sales, for a moment.
First, there are HUGE rebates on them. Second, you can all of your GM points on them, and you get bonus points also. Third, Pontiac is a dying brand, and people figure they better get one, at a great deal, while they can.
Many people on GMI have bought one recently, for all of the above reasons. One of the moderators just got his G8 GT for $10K off sticker.
Who cares? It's a great car, and probably the best bang for the buck out there, I might just get one myself.
Just think how they'd be selling if it had a ford oval on it.
And last I checked, everything out there has huge rebates right now in this market.
RWD isn't dead

Both engines are going to make great crate engines and race motors, the 6.2 is gonna be a monster in all the turbo Mustangs out there. It's the factory engine we've all been waiting for, it's like a mixture of the old 427 cammer but with a modern valvetrain and a beefy bottom end like that found in the mods, without the tiny bearing surfaces.. I'm really looking forward to seeing what this thing will do with a intake and a carb.

As to be expected from Fox, I happened to see a news headline from Neil Cavuto that said May auto sales down for both GM and Ford, no mention of of the much bigger losses by the Japanese, or that it was their best month since last July..
Although it's hard to feel good about the numbers when we're still down from last year, and last year's sales were dismal, and way down from 07, and 06, and 05, etc.
On another note, I saw my first 2010 Fusion on the road the other day, looked soooooooo much better than last years, it looks great out on the road.
And good to see G8 sales doing good, I guess the "FWD 4 banger in every car mafia" was wrong again.

This is why I hardly post here anymore, you can't even make a comment on something with out being insulted and trolled by RJ and his band of immature followers that have ruined this website.
Why don't you get a hobby, you have how many posts now in such a short time?
