  1. Are the mods asleep on this site? The quality of the posts on this section of BON have deteriorated to the point where I rarely come here. Some posters have hijacked many threads for their own purpose making this forum lame.

Anyway, anyone competent to comment on news at OAC, as local 707's website is also a dead duck.

I concur, I wish the mods would nuke this thread altogether. Same folks on every topic :beatdeadhorse:

  2. If it doesn't apply to you, why bother responding? Am I proving your quasi-religious beliefs wrong? You come here to get information. Why not provide some yourself? This is a discussion forum, not a bulletin board.

Some people can't handle the truth. They need to have their lies reinforced before common sense creeps in and causes them to doubt. I am like the common sense that sends them into a tizzy. They like to hear; "Have faith; believe"; in other words, "don't think".

The rabies have spread to your brain.......quasi-religious beliefs???WTF does that have to do with OAC??? Insanity and or rabies can be the only explanation

Discusion forum??? You sir use it to post your rants.....never mind....you do whatever the f*ck you want.....I just wish the admin would nuke you and your account :censored:

  3. OMFG  When I retire the last person I will ask for advice will be you!!!

Do you not notice how this USED to be a vibrant and informative board :( Now just a few people even atempt to post here because no matter what the post, TRIM seems to think he has to answer each post....NO YOU DON'T!!!

You tried your "own" Trim thread and it went tits up, get the hint already....

I will wander off for another year or so cause I just can't handle the endless drivel......unless this thread returns to its original theme...OAC NEWS :yahoo:

  4. I am saying that we are being led to believe that the economic recovery is a done deal. Everything isn't about YOU. I didn't hear about the big push. I see unfinished Freestar bodies there for how many years? There is a rumour going around that OAC will be down for re-tooling during the winter, but nothing substantial. I heard that months ago. Maybe that is why we are on 10 hours; to build units ahead.

I never called you a liar, but you are plainly calling me one. I say what I think. If I am wrong, that doesn't make me a liar; just mistaken. I don't have beliefs, so on the rare occasion I am proven wrong, I don't blow a gasket. I say that the recession/depression is far from over, and the auto industry will be one of the first to take the hit. Everybody is betting the farm on the success of the stimulus package. I think it is a last ditch Hail Mary play with small chance of success. That is just my opinion.

And just how many YEARS has this industry sustained you and your family :hysterical2:

  5. Wow...$650.00 for a loaf of bread in 5 years???

    Its what...$2.50 today....give or take......5 years ago......$1.00-1.50.....10 years ago.....a dollar a loaf???

Guess Peanut Butter's gonna be at least a $1,000.00 bucks......

Rather than debate this silly shit........read the above.......and try not to laugh :hysterical:

By your logic, shouldn't it be that much now???

Enjoy your week-end silly man

  6. exactly why didnt we get the closure agreement gm and crysler got?

after 25 years they got a buyout huge amount car voucher and full pension after grown in

we get to choose a buyout only if we take step and sever ties with the company...

we get penalized for not being 50 yet also but with 28 years or less you are screwed

might not be any jobs at oakville either...they should have gave people with 25 26 27 years a better chance to retire so the younger ones with 11 years or so could go to oac...

Exactly.....I have 25 at OAC and believe me....I am ready to go, and if it helps someone from STAP stay employed....a win-win situation :shades: Perhaps they will rethink their position...although don't hold your breath :censored:

  7. Ford called me at home on Friday to see if I wanted to come in this week to drive. Sunny and a humid 25-38C all week. Guess the answer.

    Anyone spend their bonus yet?

    :party: :party2: :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:

  8. napfirst...go back to the beginning of this thread and read every post from the beginning.I commented on the topic and you began the insults.I haven't read a meaningful post from you yet.You think that because you had to walk 3 miles to school in 4 feet of snow everyday we are supposed to be moved by your stories. It's not 1970 anymore napfirst. You are retired, why do you care that many remaining union members do not want to give any more concessions. In fact many of us can't afford to.The topic was about a $1700 "special payment" that is supposed to be made by the company on pp25.It's not a bonus. It was negotiated to make up the difference in holiday pay owed to us because of the Canadian laws in effect regarding vacation pay.Now Ford wants to delay this payment to us because they are hoping our union will concede it like GM/Chrysler workers had to do in order to get government money to stay afloat. Many people were relying on this payment and the company waited til the last minute to inform everyone of the delay. This is unprecedented stalling.I don't give a rat's ass about you, your 35 years of seniority and retirement because you could care less what happens to us.You sold your fellow UAW members out when you voted to accept 2 tier wages. You have received your buy-out and full pension and you want us to give concessions so that you will be able to receive those big checks at the beginning of each month. These are the facts of this conversation.I've tried to just let it go,but you insist on calling my fellow CAW brothers/sisters whiners. You are the reason that FOMOCO is failing, not the hard working CAW members like us who remain. Please don't tell me you took the package to save a juniors job,you didn't.You have proved that you are a hypocrite and self-indulgent.Please just let us fight our cause without your stupid remarks.

    Amen Brother

  9. Off topic, but I am curious as I'm off recovering from back surgery....this is PP25....anyone hear if the $1,700 went to the retiree's fund? Did Ford scoop it, or are all da brother's and sister's recieving it :stats:

  10. I don't have the answers, only my opinion. My opinion is that Ford isn't going to piss off the UAW by putting brand new product in STAP when part of their bloodletting was getting all the new commitments to new product.

Like I said previously, our May contract gave them back a week of vacation per year, benefit copays and cuts, frozen wages and suspended COLA. And on top of that, at contract time the currency exchange was par and now it's down 22%. No not only did we give them concessions to weather "the perfect storm", they got a 22% bonus.

They hadn't even begun to reap the dollar benefits of what we gave them, and the Union wants to give them more? If I was truly convinced it would save your jobs I'd consider it. Sorry, I don't think it's in the cards. That's my opinion; and I'm sorry if it's not what you'd like to hear but it isn't my job to blow sunshine up your ass.

So from where I'm standing, if Ford is not operating under the premise of getting government money then we should stick to our guns and make them ride out the contract we ratified. In my 20 years at Ford (and I started working for this company in Windsor and went through a plant closure and had to relocate here back in '92) we never once opened up the contract mid-stream and asked for more money when Ford was raking in BILLIONS in profit (damn, I remember when there was talk of overtaking GM as the number one automaker). The CAW doesn't have to be militant about it, just grow some stones and point to the contract that Ford signed that the ink is still wet on.

    Hear Hear!!!

  11. Look Junior, I'm VERY aware of what MY UNION presents at a rat vote....that does not preclude you from asking all your questions...I've never seen a member who was cut off and not allowed to speak at a ratification vote............even tho some of them should have been LOL

It's going to get passed..............if you think Ford is faking this crisis ............then you vote no and call em out.

I think we should give what they want right now.......however as SOON as Fords returns to a pre 2002 sales and profit scenario then we get all we gave up back.....no question no negotiations...just put it back where it was, or screw off.

As far as being on of those "voices/idiots on the internet....at least I publish my real name and place of work...................how about you???

Whilst I agree with a good portion of your post "charly"....How many of us on this board honestly believe Ford will fall all over themselves giving us ANYTHING back that they are wanting now? None of the automakers are faking any crisises.....but what they ARE doing is putting ALL of the recovery of this industry on our backs! Some U.S. economists are starting to spout off that their economy will "probably" start to turn around before the end of this year. While I myself highly doubt that will happen.....most of what Ford is looking for won't take effect till Jan. 1, 2010.

What happens if it does turn around? You can bet your last loonie that Ford sure as hell won't be knocking on Lewenza's door backing up the truck with all our "concessions". Their spin doctors will make it look like Ford will take years to recover....hell at the end of this contract if it goes through, they'll still be looking for more in 2012!!! Yeah I'll be at any ratification vote...but I'm done giving these clowns any more!!! All of what our retirees, and us over 20 years have fought sooooo hard for, simply cannot be given away at a boardroom table and ever expect to see it again! I will vote NO and Call 'em out.....how bout the rest of us?

  12. It's not the government who wants us to take a pay cut. It will be Ford, Incase you didn't know. Ford didn't take any money from any government, but they will reep the benefits of any negotiations the UAW and CAW have with GM and Chysler.

it doesn't matter what percentage of tax we pay, no one cares. Non-Auto people just want to see us give back something and It will happen.

All that aside if sales don't pick-up by at least 50% we're fucked reguardless, maybe not you, but anyone less than 10 - 15 yrs will be looking at long lay-off, under 10 should have taken the buy-out.

Give nothing up!!!! In my humble opinion within one, two years at the most, our plant will be just a memory as Obama and his boys will have

moved all Canadian assembly to the good ole USA. Part of Obama's "keep jobs in America" and the UAW will concede whatever it takes to

keep their plants. I hope I'm way off base, but I think its coming. :ohsnap:
