  1. The problem is there are too many people like chassisgroupleader that are in a poor financial situation. 30 people protesting represents a ridiculously small percentage of UAW membership. All of the people bitching & complaining on social media probably represent less than 10% of the membership. The other 90% live paycheck to paycheck & cannot afford a day off much less a month or more off due to a strike. The is why the FCA contract will pass as well as the contracts at Ford & GM. The companies know this & the UAW knows this.

  2. I agree 100%. Everyone seems to forget the wages, COLA, breaks, etc. were "SUSPENDED". Anything less than full reinstatement of what was "SUSPENDED" will result in a no/strike vote from me. There also needs to be a defined timetable on tier 2 getting to full pay. Too bad the humps will vote yes to whatever BS the union presents us with as long as there's a signing bonus

  3. I want back everything that was "SUSPENDED". I will vote no unless all of the "SUSPENDED" wages, breaks, COLA, etc are reinstated and will be more than happy to go out on strike if they are not. The company doesn't have a leg to stand on this time. Stock up on cheese so that you'll have it on hand to offer them when they start to whine.

  4. You're alot more likely to win the lottery than you are to go on strike, so don't worry about it.

Thank You. I don't know 3 people in my facility that have more than 2 weeks savings so everyone will vote "yes" because they're scared to death. If there is a signing bonus that is even $1 more than the $3k we got last time, all of the crackheads will jump all over it. Look at what GM is getting in a few days because that is what you are getting and be glad you got that. We might get an extra $1000 or so with the EOS greivence. We need 2/3 majority to strike. There won't be 10% that vote to strike no matter what we are offered.

  5. 3rd shift ain't happening in Chicago. 190 openings is to cover those going back to Louisville. The people needed to cover tag relief have been or are in the process of being hired off the street. Half the Chicago plant is LTS. Cheaper to pay LTS's time & a half than to put a shift of seniority employees on.

  6. This woman has changed her story no less than 3 times and has yet to show any compassion for the poor guy that may have to get his foot amputated. The list of infractions on her driving record is a mile long and she has no business driving anything. Since when is indexing or bulldozing racks allowed at FoMoCo? I understand she is a union sister, but she should be released from the company for this incident. She blatantly broke a safety rule resulting in a severe injury that could have killed the poor guy and is trying to blame it on him somehow. This is not the type of "sister" I want to be working anywhere around. I'm interested to see how this turns out. I've always said safety at Ford is a joke and women get special treatment. I wonder how Ford will handle this one.

  7. Don't be surprised if that 2nd shift is added on a 'temporary' basis. Then they wont accept transfers from anywhere. They did it before. I was there 2 years ago to help with tooling for the explorer. Yes 2 years ago. So I wouldn't kiss all of your union just yet. Chicago has been slated to get the explorer for probably 3 years now. Anyway, half of the plant were 'temporary' workers at that time. I understand they worked there for about 2 years. Some of them at least. You couldn't pay me double to work there. It's in a terrible area. Between the terrible roads, and the vandalism/theft in their own parking lot, and the insane price of housing. There was one day where 2 motorcycles were stolen and a F-250 Harley was sitting on it's rotors where someone stole the rims. That was one day! I guess they have cameras :hysterical: A slightly better than middle of the road house in a good school district is about $300k. At least 2 years ago it was. Chicago's sales tax is over 10% and the suburbs is just under 10% I think. Nearby Indiana used to be cheaper but is catching up to Illinois from what I understand. Indiana had just flooded when I was there. The major interstate was closed for a week and homes were under water everywhere. I think Indiana flooded again last year. I remember seeing a hospital & a Target under water on the news. If I had 25 years and Chicago were my last option I might go. It would have to be my very last option though.

  8. there is a good chance gm or chrysler will give up more. there will be no more opening of the contract during this term. we have it set.

A lady from the international said to expect the contract to be opened again before the end of the year when she was in plant a few weeks ago selling the 1st deal.

  9. :redcard: how are you giving back, buying a Chevy or Dodge? :finger: JMO. If your pay check is from FORD, your purchase and/or loyalty should be from FORD as well. :stirpot: I just bought a used Expedition. :happy feet: :happy feet:

I try to be loyal to Ford but my family likes to eat also. Dealer said if spark plug breaks it's $1800 per side to fix. That's $3600 to change spark plugs. That's a lot of Mac & Cheese. I keep my trucks well past 10 years so the plug issue will come into play at some point. I don't really see how buying used helps Ford except for neighbors & family seeing me in a Ford.

  10. I need a new truck bad. With the state of the industry and the recent concessions, I'm afraid to buy a new truck. A few co-workers recently bought used vehicles and that's the route I'll be going. Does Ford realize their own employees aren't buying their vehicles? When the IUAW was in plant last week they told us they expect more concessions before the end of the year. Not exactly comforting info going into a 4 or 5 year truck note. As much as I love the new F-150, my family comes 1st. I'm sad to say my new 'used' truck will probably be a Chevy or a Dodge. I don't want to deal with the spark plug issue recent F-150's have. 2 dealers refused to make a spark plug change a condition of the sale so I walked - and they let me. Now my neighbors might see a Chevy or Dodge in the drive. Just wondering what other Ford employees are doing to meet their vehicle needs these days.

  11. Buyout are gone.. You had your chance.

ETAP is gone.. Not many used it..

You aren't getting a car or cash...

The UAW is negotiating you farther down into the shitter.... :shades:

It is better from a business standpoint, for the automakers, to just eliminate the dead weight of the UAW through layoffs or justified plant closures. You that are left, WILL take concessions, pay cuts, benefit cuts etc and continue to whine as usual, but will keep on coming to work[even for 10 bucks an hour], because most have nothing else, Ford is ALL you know! All the years you had ETAP, most chose to work the O/T. Now, where is that O/T? Where is that ETAP? Those that used ETAP and have something they can fall back on, kudos to you.. Those, like myself, that used the ETAP while I was employed at FMC, and took the buyout, congratulations, and extra kudos to you.. These people[myself included] had the metal to throw away that big blue pacifier and move on... I now have the career job that I have always wanted, I have ABSOLUTE job security, I am making more money than you, I CAN afford a new car, in fact, any new car,[just bought a new Toyota Tundra] and I am able to spend a ton of time with my family... What more could a man ask for? Here's a tip from a former UAW worker... Dump the union and negotiate your own wage and benefits deal with Ford, then you'll no longer be able to whine about whats in it for you....I thank Ford for offering the ETAP program and the Educational buyout. Now, with all that said, I am ready to be flamed by all of the jealous, whiny, now part-time UAW Ford holdouts.. I welcome it! Don't hate the player, hate the game! I'm livin' it bro's, be happy for me.. Peace :happy feet: :shades:

While you were a little harsh, I agree with everything you said except for the $10/ hour part. The reason SUB & other benefits were created is so the workforce wouldn't leave when things got slow. The industry pays what it does because the work is shit. People will stay for the short term with wage reductions because of the economy, but they'll fly out the door if something else should come up when the economy bounces back. The only reason we put up with the BS is because of the pay & benefits. Take that away and a lot of peeps will be walking. Hell, you can forget about a pension so starting over doesn't mean shit. I definately agree the union is worthless. Just a bunch of lying criminals in my opinion. The big thing my chairman always said is that the UAW got us the buyouts. Guess what? Toyota is offering buyouts. Guess what else? Toyota's execs are taking a 30% pay cut. One more thing. Toyota is making their reductions by reducing hours worked, not a reduction in pay so when things ramp up their workers haven't lost anything long term. I'm not saying I want to work for Toyota, I just don't see what the point of the UAW is anymore. Remember we are about to take the same concessions as GM/Chrysler and haven't accepted any bailout money. Do you really think Ford isn't going to want MORE concessions when they have to ask for money at the end of the year?

  12. ugh...I really don't want to comment but I feel I must....there is alot of b.s. going on and well I believe now they all suck. I usto believe in some that the right things would be done but I see that is not the case.My eyes are open now. :shades:

I don't even work there and could have told you they're full of shit. At least you came around. Maybe more people will too. I assume you don't have much time. (Less than 10 years) That's usually who the union bullshitters target. The older people know better than to believe their B.S. Just vote those people out next time around. That new Taurus is hot. Keep your head up.

  13. Ouch!! Didn't that clown you guys elected to run your union promise you guys you wouldn't go to 1 shift if you voted a bunch of stuff away? There were a lot of people on this site supporting him. I wonder if they still are.

  14. Between 9 to 10 more weeks of downtime from now till June.Taurus launch moved back about 3 weeks.More job reductions.I wish there was some good news just does not seem to be any!

Sounds like you guys never went to 1 shift with all that down time so there is some good news.

  15. I wish we had kept voting it down....I am not gonna like it....sure you get an extra day off but after 10 hours and the drive home you will not see your family til friday when you get up from being dead tired from 10 hour days.

You must be from Chicago. I wouldn't worry as much as they change their minds there.

  16. All I am saying is people generally hate unions in this country and when "Joe Smith" can't have Christmas this year because he lost his job and has no representation reads the paper and sees the word 'worker' spelled wrong on the protest sign, he's probably going to be pissed. I'm sure several people laughed and said "stupid union worker". If I were protesting something in another country, I would make the effort to have my signage spelled correctly especially with the national media coming.
