  1. "If more Ford pickup buyers tested out a Ram, Dodge might find itself short of trucks and long on cash."

Funniest thing i read all day, i drove both.... I'd rather have an f150 thanks. Besides the Hemi (which has good power) the dodge is a pathetic truck compared to the Ford...

  2. Living about 20 minutes from bathurst, it was a pretty horrible event that broke just about every heart around, including mine..... The roads were horrible here that night and i mean horrible, almost the worst roads we had so far all year. Freezing rain, ice pellets and snow mized together isn't good. The roads in montcon weren't all that bad so they continued home that night and after they got close to bathurst the roads were quite bad but they were only 5 mins from actually being home, so they kept going but they never made it.....

The van hit the shoulder and went into a fishtail and he couldn't bring it back and was nailed by the transport which was probably doing near 55mph. It ripped the van to peices and ejected most of the boys into the snow. there was 12 passenger in the van, 8 were killed. One police officer could only do 30mph on a 60mph highway on the roads that night to get to the accident scene.... Shows how bad they were.

I know one of the kids that made it out alive and from what he says, those few moments were pure horror..... He mangaed to walk with a broken pelvis, leg and arm. Checking upon his teamates ejected from the vehicle trying to keep them alive until help arrived but sadly none did....

No 15 passeger van would of made a difference unless maybe it had advancetrac....

The funeral was today in bathurst at the arena and was on many news stations live... i watched it and probably one of the worst things i ever went through, when your have to bury 7 people younger then yourself in this community....

The coach has driven this vehicle before without trouble i believe, they have had the van awhile and has been a coach for years....

In the end, there really is only one thing at fault, the weather. people can throw blame here and there, but 8 people died.... and it's been an awful week so far for everyone but it shows how much everyone cares with the support that has been coming in, from messages from the pope, the prime minister, toronto raptors having a moment of silence etc... It's just been unbelivable to see how much a community can come together in times like these...

I know quite a bit about the story if anyone wants to know anything else....

Both the boys from my community here 20 mins from bathurst were lucky, the co captain was sick and stayed home that night and the other came out alive but like i said, has a broken pelvis, arm and leg. It would of made it even harder ( like it isn't hard enough) if any of the 2 boys in my small community were killed.... Bathurst is a city of only 13,000+ people....

RIP to the boys in red....

  3. All our local ambulances are Ford vans with the 6.0L, never had any engine problems that i know of and i know many of the paramedics quite well.... They can have their GMC slop, there's a reason why most choose ford for ambulance service.

  4. Why is everyone blaming navistar for this, or ford? Ford or navistar can't forsee injectors(being made by siemens i believe) leaking, and diesel pooling up in the particulate filter then catching fire.... The particulate filter i imagine must need to run at high temps(like a cat) to take all the harmful gases etc... out of the exhaust. We were bound to see some teeting problems here and there with this engine since it's new....

A few leaking injectors out of 67,200 injectors? Not bad.... If a engine has leaky injector now, atleast now the filter won't catch fire or shoot flames out the pipe.

The problems have nothing to do with a poor navistar design....

  5. OMG oh no, the van is ugly please humpty dumpty don't by anymore of them for your delivery trucks....

These trucks are by far the best in their class, the GM ones are unreliable and i rarely see them compared to the ford ones. Don't get me started on Ram vans :censored:

This is the best utility truck on the market, nobody gives a damn what they look like.

  6. I seen a new escaspe limited loaded at my dealer yesterday.... It's a very nice vehiclke and the changes are striking like said earlier. I was very impressed with it myself.

As a side not when i got there, the expy max they had was sold, the only 08 super duty they got in 2 days before was sold along with 3 new 07 f150's were sold.....Not work trucks either...

  7. One reason the Tahoe has dropped that much is because most of the ones selling when the new on debuted, where the previous generations, which had anywhere from 6-10K off. I would say that's one big factor.

BTW, I'm still looking to see if the new generation has inherited that "one daylight lamp out" problem that their trucks seem to have. Now i'm wondering, if the Daytime running lamps, are considered a safety item, would that require a recall if NHTSA says so? I mean, it's like 2 of every 3 I see suffer from that issue.

I heard the issue was solved and we would never see a vehicle like that again... for their sake i hope so.

  8. I took a total of 720 photos....on my first day! I'm going back tomorrow morning for a bit more.

When it comes to concepts, Ford took the cake by far. The MKR, Interceptor, Mustang...even the Airstream was interesting.

The 500 update is very disappointing, but it's not ugly. They could have done something that advanced the design, but instead they warmed over a Fusion nose and directly copied it on a 500...just too predictable and not appropriate for the car. They managed to update the 500 but nobody will notice because they've seen it on the Fusion.

The Escape is a pleasant surprise, I'm impressed by the overall 'presence' of the design. It's well crafted, balanced, and more crisply defined. I like the level of detail in the car and the interior is tastefully done. The Mariner is the same story. The Tribute looks completely out of place at Mazda however, and they went overboard with the piano black trim.

The Focus is just HORRIBLE! It is astoundingly bad, I had no idea just how bad the lines and proportions were on this car. I thought it would look better in person, quite the contrary. How this thing passed inspection is remarkable, what happened? Can somebody explain to me why anybody thinks this is going to help the Focus? This is going to kill it! It won't make it to C2!

Overall, the real reason to visit the Ford displays are the concepts, the new products are very ignorable (and boy were they).

It's amazing how much change has happened at GM in just one year. I am astounded by their progress, the new products are remarkable! The CTS is my object of desire right now, I can't wait to trade the LS for this thing in a year. The CTS is full of wonderful design details that make it appear well thought out and sculpted, FAR better than the clunky original. The Outlook, Acadia, Enclave, Malibu, Vue...etc....all look amazing! I guess what's really exciting about GM is that the product overhaul is coming in one collective swoop instead of patch by patch as is happening at Ford right now. Walking through the Ford display reminds you of just how unfocused Ford's future looks.

Some surprises...Mazda's CX7 and CX9 are some of the best designs on the floor, inside and out. I am not usually a Mazda customer, but the CX7 is really growing on me.

Overall a very eye-opening year. Ironically, Ford's healthiest brands do not have the blue oval on it ;).

The only real GM's i can agree on are the cts, the rest are kinda forgetable. The enclave is nice even with it's busy interior. The outlook and acadia are also quite nice but interiors could use some better materials on the inside and the exterior styling could be a little better and a less ho-hum vibe they give me. Great offerings though, just GM still has alot of trouble going the extra mile.

The vue though, that thing is just bad..... It's downright homely to me and wouldn't be caught dead near one... GM did a horrible job redoing this Opel. They should of just left it alone, instead of downgrading it like they did. I hope to god they don't make the astra as homely.

The malibu, though much better then the current, still isn't all that great, I still like the aura better. The malibu Seems to have all the same short comings interior wise as the aura, lousy material in many places, horrible rear styling (how that got by is beyond me) and a front end that is totally forgetable with the new ugly chevrolet front with it's 10 year old headlight design. The grill looks 2 times to big for this car and just gives it this bulbous feel. The car is a total letdown when parked against the fusion, aura and the rest. GM improved on the g6 with the aura then fell back down again with the malibu.... It's a plain vanilla car.

GM is getting better but i see nothing that's ready to blow me away..... Yet

  9. Also, I find it funny that most of the negative comments that have been posted from other "sites" have all come from GMI. Gee, what a surprise that the GM fanbase does not like the car (although, surprisingly, many did). These are the same people who are saying that the Jag XF concept looks like a Buick (as in, when in the history of man, has a Buick looked this good.............. or been styled this dramatically).

Another funny................. everyone just "assumed" that the Fusion grille would be slapped on, and Ford would call it a day. Now the car has a grille that looks nothing like the Fusion grille, and everyone hates it. Does the term "damned if you do and damned if you don't" mean anything.

Now we all know most of the GMI'ers are a special breed..... Makes me want to bash their head with a frying pan :finger:

The focus is edgy, it's the direction this car needed to go in..... It's goes along with the styling of every other small car, except the cobalt which is just a blando pos.....

I can see this car gaining the traction it lost with the 05 redesign

  10. The awd fuel economy is the same as before.....

The transmission, though to them they wish had a extra gear worked just fine with smooth quick shifts....

All the acell times are about the same as before

Also wondering if the ride harsh ride is because of the 17"s?

Seems like ford did a great job with the new eps steering, GM take note since you can't seem to do it right.

  11. Hehehe................... everyone should read the 95+ post thread on GMI about it. What a riot.

I will sum it up in one word. Wahhhhhhhhh!!!!

Haha, tell me about it.... I can't help at laugh at all the piss poor excuses they come up with all the time, it's quite fun to watch them go on like kids

  12. Surprising post from Kool.

I probably could've guessed what it would say, word for word, before you posted. That's your standard "reaction" to every new GM car.

Wonder if you noticed even ALOT of the Hardcore GMIers, you know the ones that would take a bullet for bob lutz arn't even impressed... Go bitch at them for awhile.... It's going to be world war 3 over there soon...

  13. The front end is still terrible, side profile is nothing new and exciting...

If the the interior shares anything with the aura, it will be OK.... Not great.

I wish GM would quit using that brown leather though... It's already played out.

the exterior losses out to the fusion/milan

But anything would be better then the current malibu, overall it's an improvment but nothing earth shattering

  14. It's better then the current.... But it's way to underwhelming after all the hype the GM faithful kept going on about....

Headlights look they were designed 10 years ago, i hate the grill design, way to big for the car IMO...

I was just expecting alot more then this....
