Mostly, but when it comes to trying to stifle and discredit opposing voices with rhetoric I cannot agree. It is obvious to me that you are slighted that members may discuss matters without the control of others. Regardless of the outcome it is the right of every member to voice their opinion regardless of their position, in front of the podium they choose. And being that it was a concessionary contract initial reactions are going to be negative. Get use to it, social forums are going to be the reform of the democratic process be it within the union, or in our government.
Your not going to stop this train by jumping in front of it, and all of the members you named seem to be the best informed on this site. I take it I'm not the only paranoid one here. What you missed was when you categorized these members for speaking their mind when in opposition, as being anti union, and anti UAW. That is not a fact, and those you speak of may have lashed out at some point, but realized that it had to be swallowed. Level was answering questions to help the members understand the contract language, and give clarification. Spring after she had calmed down openly supported the agreement. Pioneer is just one mean old mother who knows this union inside and out, and will not budge. He is old school. (He'll be along to tell you what he thinks later, I'm sure) I myself despite the losses knew the consequences of voting against the agreement.
You just attacked a person that was helping her members understand what was at stake, and with her support and level's incite helped to secure the highest number of yes votes of any voting facility in the Ford system. At this point FF is heavily populated by members from that same facility. Why are you here, who are you, and why is your first post so honed on a topic you have never posted on before? These are the questions of the day. Did any of the membership stay till the vote was over and actually get the count of the total votes? A member has a right to be present and hear the tally of the ballots and request to see the tally sheet. I know my husband believes that the voting is rigged. I would like to think that the Union is better than that but I know that there is some corruption within the Unions not saying there is within Local 862 or the international. The membership has a right to know the actual number of votes cast, the number of votes cast for and the number of votes cast against the issue. If your not confident in your unions honesty then know your rights and make them accountable. I am not bashing the UAW or Local 862 Executive Board, just want the members to know their rights and to put those rights to use.

If for some reason these threads are looked back upon by the next generation, I think we owe you a big apology. You will be the first generation that will probably not have the oppportunity to progress further than the generation before you. We are leaving you with another trillion dollars further in debt because of greed,plain and simple. As a third generation auto worker I have seen the decline of the UAW, mostly due to the fact there were no leaders that stepped up to he plate with foresight that the great leaders of the past such as Walter Reuther had. When we were fat and rich 10-15 years ago no one cared or thought this day would come and since then we have elected leaders that run this orginization by nepotism,favortism and politics, replacing the ideals of standing for seniority,integrity and or just plain and simple doing the right and moral things they took oath to do. All we can hope for is that a lesson will be learned from all this and you our children will not make the same mistake. As we continue to dump more money into orginizations ran by people that use the funds to pay for their luxurious lifestyles and perks, we can only see doom on the horizon. Again I want to personally say I am sorry, and may God bless you.

Nobody makes an individual run for Union office, it is all voluntary. As far as the pay raise, the majority of the delegates at the Convention are union lackeys who would vote anything in if the person whose ass their heads are stuck in told them to vote for it in. Once again, lead by example. International sure seems to be more white collar than the blue collar that they are suppose to represent. It was already decided who the President was going to be. The voting was just a formality.

Hello. My name is Timothy Eckert, and I've been engaged in a fierce legal battle with Ford Motor Company, the UAW International Union, UAW LU 897, and the Public Review Board for the last 4 years that started with civil rights violations, and then escalated into criminal activities committed by the above named parties.
I've posted the evidence on www.eckert-v-uaw-prb.org because nobody would believe what I am going to say, had there been no evidence.
I worked as an electrician at Buffalo Stamping Plant since 1999, and prior I worked as a Union electrician for 20 years throught the IBEW. I was the only electrician at BSP who was certified by NY State and held (4) Master Electrician licenses. Ford Motor Company had asked me to participate in on-going project of replacing lighting in their highbay area. The Lighting was 480 volts but Ford was using 250 volt receptacles to attach them. This violates the NEC and Ford' Engineering manual and common sense. I refused to participate in th illegal project, and threatened to bring in OSHA if Ford did not change these receptacles.
Shortly there after I sustained a non-work related injury, and required surgery ASAP. I personally reported to Ford medical on (3) different occasions prior to my surgery with documentation and notice I would be out for (6) weeks. Ford saw this as an opportunity to get rid of me, so when I asked for a medical leave, they decided not to inform me of my FMLA rights, and not to grant me FMLA protected leaved. Needless to say, in my 5th week of medical leave, they fired me for being AWOL.
The UAW also knew I was entitled to FMLA, and they too chose not to inform me of my FMLA rights, and they just went through the grievance motion, without mentioning FMLA. I learned about my FMLA rights several months later, and notified Ford and the UAW they're going to be sued.
Ford tried to evade a conviction by manufacturing a medical record that reads that I did not report to Ford medical, but subsequent discovery turned up the real medical report that reads I did, AND an email from a Ford official acknowledging the true medical report. I was told by some guys who came back from the anniversary awards in the plant managers office that he said that we should expect a announcement anywhere from now to six months. Spring do you still have those notes from about a year or so ago when Donovan told us about the body shop? He told us before anybody else did and he was telling us in the trades about the money being released. He told us that several weeks ago. I would like to know why the union isn't telling us this stuff? We have to get all our information from Donovan. At least he hasn't been wrong yet! Don't know what sources he has but he hits the nail on the head everytime.

This is one of the few meetings Jerry has attended. How many meetings has Jerry been to in the last three years. He just started going to every meeting the past 6 months (it must be ELECTION TIME). That is not necessarily true. You're making assumptions. Jerry has better contacts with the people that matter in the company and a better relationship with the International union than you realize. Ask yourself why is it then that he has been able to bring us information to the union meetings regarding the future of the plant before anyone else? Go back and check my notes from last March's ('07) union meeting. And if Nick knew about these things, why was he withholding this information from the membership? Shoboy, I'd take you up on that bet. Jerry has a proven track record of bringing new product into this plant (Escape/Mariner). He has always been able to bargain favorably for this membership as is evidenced by the agreements. If you're going to look at the candidates, look at facts and weigh the merits of those facts accordingly. YOUR JOB MAY DEPEND ON IT!

You have made it abundantly clear that you are not interested in what actually took place but rather in spewing the "information" that is being spoon fed to you by a certain B.C. A strong skilled trades rep? That's laughable! By the way, look it up under the provisions of the National Contract whereby the union is required to request inverse seniority for specific layoffs. However, under this administration, the employees have to request to work regardless of seniority! The whole reason that Jerry had to bring Michael up there was because, as usual, Michael was the only Bargaining Committeeman that could be found in the plant at the time! At this point, if you were at work like the rest of us, you might then understand how seniority rights are being trampled on without objection on the part of certain union reps! Once again, your credibility is suspect but then that had already been well established.
That is horseshit and all of the skilled trades know it, so you must obviously be trying to dupe the production folks that are reading this into believing that was right. I have been a skilled tradesman since 1980's. I came here when we launched in 1990, it has been this way since I came here for 18 years!!!!!!!

Tim Rowe - Lost 4 units - the Thunderbird, Cougar, Econoline and he lost a new unit (Escape) when he refused to go to an MOA and closed the Lorain plant
Gallogly - NEVER LOST ANY UNIT- so I don't understand why he is even on this poll to begin with. I think you are confusing people.
