  4. I haven't seen any hard facts yet, rumor from laborville is close to 1200 total signed up as of wensday with about 90 trades in that 1200. Tuesday will be real interesting to see if we hear a final number.

SUPPOSEDLY THEY HAVE A PARTIAL LIST OF WHEN YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO LEAVE AT KCAP

  5. This was taken from WDAF Fox 4 news in Kansas City

Ford Claycomo Plant Will Not Close

CLAYCOMO, MO. - Ford announced on Friday it will cut 14,000 salaried employees, including the 4,000 cuts previously announced, and will expand buyout and early retirement offers to the company's 75,000 hourly workers nationwide.

Ford also said it will close a stamping plant in Maumee, Ohio, in 2008 and an engine plant in Essex, Ontario, in 2007. Those closures are in addition to previous plans to close 14 plants. The Ford Claycomo plant is not included in the closings.

People at the Claycomo plant will have to decide if they will accept the buyout. Five-thousand-two-hundred employees work at the plant and 4,000 of those employees are hourly workers.

According to the union, the UAW, blue-collar employees will be offered $35,000 to $140,000 to leave depending on how long an empoyee has worked at the plant and how close the person is to retirement.

Ford said it will cut 25,000 to 30,000 hourly positions by the end of 2008.

FOX 4 will continue to follow this developing story and will have additional updates throughout the day.

  6. KCAP is fine you have a good future. You had a VERY important visitor last week . i'ts not final but you might have more work in your future than you think ;-)

  7. Well I guess I'll add my .02 cents. I just got a 2006 500 limited on Friday. I thought what a lot of posters here thought. I was not impressed by the car. Then I drove it. All I can say is that this car is much better than I thought it would be. I really like the feel and handling and it has plenty of get up and go. The interior is huge,I even fit very comfortably in the back seat and you could get lost in the trunk. I just picked up my kids (4 and 7) from a weekend camping with the in-laws and was able to fit all of thier bags and BOTH of thier bikes in the trunk. All in all this is a great car that I intend to have for a long time.

i have a 2006 Five Hunred SEl it is an awesome car.

  8. anyone who has a 2006 ford 500 had anyproblems wit the mud flaps breaking going over the slighest little speeed bump, i am getting ready to replace one, the dealer told me the mud flaps are too low to the ground any feed back from anyone who has had this problem? thanks

  9. I bought my wife a 2006 Freestyle Limited and that is a well built automobile and she is happy

with it. It carries all of her stuff and the kid with no problem. It is an actually well designed vehicle. To me a

bit boring, but to the average person that considers a car an appliances, it works well.

    Y'all have a good one

i bought a 2006 500 sel with the 6sp tranny, awesome car great job chicago

  10. I think they'll offer as many packages as it takes. The question is: Will they get enough people to take them there to get everyone from SLAP who wants to go up there?

If any KC people are reading this, is there a large percentage of people who live in Kansas who work there? For those living in Kansas, is the commute all that bad, time and traffic wise?

We've been looking primarily in Liberty, Gladstone and NKC.

Hey Big Head Mike, heard you found a house you liked last weekend. What city was it in?

Cameron is not a bad town its about 35 minutes north of the plant housing is pretty reasonable, schools are good if you need any info message me back i know a good realtor that has dealt in helping alot of ford workers

  11. My dentist has a 2004 Escape with less than 40k. He tells me that on Friday he parked it and closed the drivers door, then smash, the rear liftgate window exploded.

He took it to the Ford dealership and they said Ford has rarely paid for this repair (which makes it sound like it has happened numerous times on Escapes). The dealer says that they will try their hardest to get the money from Ford.

Now that I think about it, shouldn't this be covered under basic warranty?

Anyone else hear of this problem with the Escape?

This dentist was considering buying a Hybrid Escape or Edge when they come out, but if Ford dicks him around over this window he says he may go to a different brand.

i had a 2005 super crew had a small vibration in the upper left hand corner it started to crack(windshield) dealer accused me of hitting a rock even though i did not, but they told my ford does not pay for glass i sucked it up and just put another one in

  12. my check engine light came on today, thinks its a bad gas cap it what i was told, but im still keeping upbeat about my 500, getting ready to take it to the dealer now, also i have a samll vibration in the front end sounds like a loose heat sheild going down the highway? anyone heard of that??

You may have seen posts that I have made regarding quality issues with my Montego.

Never since I have been driving 1968 with 11 vehicles under my belt have I had anything like what I have experienced with my Montego. Short version is:

ABS sensor came on at 500 miles repaired,

At 2500 miles Main Airbag warning light came on. Light goes off when turned off. Dealer could not find code. It came on again and dealer still did not find code. Took car to another dealer at the suggestion of Ford customer service and a code was found relating to Occupant Classification System. Took car back to selling dealer(name will be provided on request) and suddenly they found same code.

Arranged with dealer to return car on Feb 27 for service only to be told that FORD is aware of the problem and is working on the problem.(Ford Techhotline)

Airbag light came on a month ago while driving alone and I immediately took it to my dealer and the code was the same refering to the occupant classification system.

Have been informed that there is to be a software update issued in May that should fix issue.

In addition the the 2 items above the following are also issues that I am/have had; GPS not recognizing address, struts and springs were already replaced(grinding banging when at slow speed-parking, there is a rattle in the passenger compartment that they do not hear, front seat leather is rippled and was replaced and ripples appear in the same spot( like maybe something underneath are causing the ripples),

brakes make excessive noise and more pressure when car is left overnight(told that brakes can be noisy on first application of brakes due to rust buildup on rotors overnignt) then 2 weeks ago oval dash clock stopped working.

Ford customer service, management offices and the local rep have been of absolutely no assistance.

The local rep said to me on Weds that the car has a warranty and will be fixed under the terms of the warranty.

The owner of the dealer also was of no use as when I approached him about the issue with the airbags his comment was "the car is a very safe car and airbags are supplemental to the seat belts and as long as the seat belts are worn occupants will be protected" Have been a customer for 13 yrs and bought 6 vehicles from them.

Have formally requested a replacement vehicle as I wonder what will go wrong next.

Just letting all know of my recent experiences.

    FORD-FIX OR REPAIR DAILY

  13. If you do that, I will buy you a beer. :beerchug:

I have actually done that before. My wife's aunt showed up at our house with a new Honda Accord. I reminded her of my no import rule on my property. She thought I was kidding. So I got the ol' bull rope out I use for mud bogging, hooked it up to my 1 ton, and pulled it out to the street. We argued pretty good about it and she hasn't been back since. At least now the whole family knows I'm serious. ;)

hell i would take a day off work to watch that maybe even 2 days

  14. Hey guys.Ive been looking at the PIN request forum lately, and a lot of people are being left hanging. Is this how we want to treat our potential and current customers ? Come on,those PIN's dont cost us anything. So give them out.As much typing that goes on in these forums fussing at each other,we can take 5 minutes to take care of these folks. After all, they are taking the time to check out our products. We are the best ambassador for FOMOCO.And taking the time to help, will make a lasting impression, and hopefully create more Ford family members for life.So im gonna issue a challenge.Every time, you log on,check the PIN request forum FIRST !EVERY TIME ! We can do better. After all we build the best damn vehicles on the road. :)

  15. Thanks for everyone's responses so far. Ideally I'd like about 20 acres with a decent house on it to run around on but that's probably going to be more than I can swing unless my wife could find a decent paying job there.

I'll either have to settle for a house and a few acres or give up on the land and buy a bigger house in the 'burbs. It'd be nice to be fairly close to the Fountain Bluffs Sports Complex in Liberty as my son would probably play alot of baseball there. We've been to that complex for tournaments and it's a real nice facility. I imagine he'll get on an elite team in that area and play many tournaments there. Anybody at KCAP have a 12 year old son that plays competitive baseball?

I'd like to also be in a school district that has an excellent high school baseball program. Again, for my son. I hear Liberty has excellent schools and sports programs. Is that the case?

It seems the architecture of the houses in your area differ greatly from ours in the St. Louis area. Many of the homes in and around KC seem to have the garage under part of the house which isn't my taste. At least that's what I'm finding in the $250,000 or less price range. It also seems there aren't many ranches. I see alot of reverse 1.5 story homes which appear to be what we call atrium ranches on this side of the state. I'm really more interested in a large ranch (2500 sq. ft.?) with a basement I could finish off for additional entertaining/family space. If in the suburbs, I'd like at least a 1/2-3/4 acre lot.

I drove through Blue Springs in June of last year and there was alot of highway construction going on. Is that still the case? That really seems to be a booming city. Great Harley Dealership there too.

Hopefully if I make it up that way to settle, I'll meet some good people who like to Bowhunt and might be able to host me and the boy on some huntin' trips. That's why I'd like to get some property out aways so we could shoot our bows. My wife shoots too but doesn't hunt. Right now we shoot in our basement as the cops would show up quick if we were out in our yard doing it. LOL

Thanks in advance for additional info.
