  1. Just a suggestion. Do you have a IRA? if so, put it in there when you maxed in your 401k. I use too maxed out all the time when I worked at NAP, I had a much higher % coming out because of all the overtime we worked, so I put my extra into that account.

In 2008 and 2009 the US Congress, both House and Senate, had hearings about nationalizing the 401k system. Trillions of dollars are in that system. Granted nothing has become of that so far, but the cat is out of the bag as far as I'm concerned. I'm trying to balance my 401k with a brokerage account for retirement. I understands the pros and cons to both. If the 401k system is nationalized at some point in the future I would still have my brokerage account to draw from. Just another way I'm balancing the eggs between my baskets.

As far as the vote count goes does anyone have the totals at this point? I'm not a Facebook user so I don't have access to the UAW page.

  2. Barg. Rep said they have not sat down with nerw buyers yet, so it may be awhile, the process is very long.

Bob King and company could step in and do the bargaining with Faurecia in place of the local representation to fast track the sale. From what I understand Bob King wants the sale completed sooner rather than later.

In regards to the initial question, the most truthful answer I can give you is TOO SOON.

  3. During a strike or lock out (regardless of the length of time) the UAW will pay us $200 per week plus catastrophic medical coverage

Just make sure you show up for picket duty. The UAW isn't going to pay people to sit at home.

  4. As long as he is not 65 at the date of the convention he will be able to run and fulfill the four year term, he just could not seek re election.

Look for them to move to change that restriction! I've heard word that they are very focused on that right now.

Maybe they should focus on halting their annual payraises and bonuses while telling the rest of us that we need to give back more to the company.

  5. During the most recent modification voting, those skilled tradesmen working production could vote as production only. Would/could they be allowed to vote as skilled trades since they hold that classification but are working in production on ballots affecting Skilled Trades?

If during the last vote you had to vote with production it would make sence that you would vote with production on all other matters until you rejoin the trades.

  6. He was just following custom. That bow IMO did signify President Obama's willingness to extend a hand: what it didn't do was show weakness from him or our Country. JMO

It is not a custom for an American President to bow to a foreign potentate. He didn't bow before Queen Elizabeth did he? We are a sovereign nation. We fly our flag no higher or lower than the flag of any other nation. The United States was founded upon the principle of a government of the people and by the people. We DO NOT bow to monarchs. IMHO.

  7. That said, Bush isn't responsible for GM in a direct manner. However, he is responsible for all of the downturn in the economy by dragging us into 2 wars with no conclusions, allowing "free trade" with China and India(Already set in place, he just expanded it) and I could go on and on. Let's not forget he is great friends with the Saudi Royal family~ who control oil prices through OPEC.

It truly bothers me that people bag on Obama when he's not even been in office more than a few months. he didn't make this mess, he's not for big business- he's for us.

Bush may be friends with the Saudi Royal family, but, he never bowed to a foriegn king.

President Obama Bows to Saudi King

  8. well "rumor has it" an engineer, we'll call him phil ,was talking to a vendor about some product and the vendor told him they were talking with another company who is in negotations to buy rawsonville.

    My neighbor's cousin's sister-in-law's boyfriend's garbageman's pharmacist's accountant told him the samething.
