  1. So then tell us the facts...of the 2,000 Flexes sold/month, how many are EB's, how many Limiteds, and how many the base SE's? And how did you guys get hold of Ford's profit figures on the Flex? Assuming high ATP's on the Explorer, is if better to sell 10,000 Explorers/month or 2,000 Flexes/month? Kuzak HOPES there is room for Flex. Yeah, HOPE is the correct word. I hope about a lot of things also. No minivan, but two 7 passenger CUV's. Makes sense to me not. One that looks like homerun and other weak single. Again, it doesn't take an astute auto obeservor to figure out Flex days are numbered. I find it weird how the lower the sales number goes for a Ford vehicle, the more you slappies support it. Don't look now, but Flex numbers are going lower even with the EB hot rod 4700 pound station wagon.

I hope you are wrong....I had a Flex with the EB....it's one of the best vehicles Ford makes....and I have driven them all. I loved pulling up to a X5 or Cayenne and taking them at the light (or most cars on the road). Then pick up my kids to head up to the cottage. When have you ever seen a Flex commerical?

  2. Just curios how the my ford touch and the sync differ. My wife has the Fusion Hybrid, and we love the Sync that is on that. I am currently looking to get a Ford Edge Sport, and am just curious as to how they differ, and if anyone has used both, how they like it vs the Sync on the fusion.

    Thanks in advance.

It is much faster. Also, you don't need to "prompt" to use most features. With your current system, if you want to use the phone to call someone you would need to say "phone" then the say person you wish to call. With the new system all you need to say is "call Bill" and it will make the call. The new system basically cuts out a step.

I really like MyFord touch. Once you get used to it...it is very easy to use....everything at your fingertips!!! You should have a quick read of your manual, there are so many features available.

Hope that helps....I have white Sport....i love it.

  3. Thanks for the response. Do you know if you can control your factory installed rear dvd through the front?

Yes you can. Press Media, then Rear Zone. From this screen you can control most features. You can switch so both seat are watching the same movie or even switch so that the seats are watching the others DVD. You can FFW, RRW or pause for "DVD" (Behind drivers side) but you can't for DVD AUX (passenger side). Hope this helps.....you need to play around with it....

PS...you can play a movie on the front screen.....obviously it turns off once the car is in motion.

  4. We have had problems with the collision warning system since day one...now 6 months ago. Since the system is linked to the cruise control, we also have a malfunctioning cruise. Does anyone have similar problems? Ford has re-programmed the computer 5 times, each time saying the upgrade would correct the problem. The system will only stay engaged for about 10 minutes and then stops functioning. It has been impossible to talk to anyone at Ford. Customer service at it's worst.

My last car was a SHO with the same option, never had a problem......At the end of the day.....the dealer is the one who is going to fix your car....I don't like to say this, but try another dealer...some are better than others, Having said that, I will see what I can find out for you. Stay tuned.

  5. Pity? Party of one? Your table is now ready...

    Sorry, Pioneer, couldn't resist.

Yes, the Forte is a nice car. Is it "nicer" than the Focus? I don't think so. If it were, Kia would sell it on more than price. I guess my "bottom feeder" comment may have been a bit strong, I was just pointing out that most (if not all) of Hyundai/Kia's models sell on price. There's nothing wrong with that. It's just not a business model that Ford should be chasing.

A colleague of my bought a Forte.....he works for GM and also gets A-plan for Chrysler .....he told me that nothing from those 2 companies is any good....He said for a joke he went to test drive the Forte and drove out with one...... Out of pure principal I would not have bought open, but you have to admit it looks pretty good for a S#$t box.......

  6. Hi Jack. :D According to Ford, the increase/drop between peak horsepower on premium and regular fuels is less than 5%. And torque does not change at all. So the real world perception on a vehicle as big as the MKT will be nearly imperceptible.

Good luck with your new vehicle. :beerchug:

I could feel the difference in the SHO I used to drive. Don't think you would feel only 5%.....

  7. As we're waiting for this afternoon's pickup of our MKT, I was wondering about gas and the performance of the ecoboost engine. Has anyone noticed a significant difference in the performance of the MKT when using premium vs. regular gas. Also, any difference in gas mileage. Our test drive MKT was running on premium, and the performance was impressive to say the least. The MKT will primarily be my wife's vehicle and I'll stay with the F-150, but the performance of the ecoboost means I'll be sneaking it out of the garage when she's not looking.

    Cheers,

    Jack

You can expect a 15% loss of HP when using regular gas versus premium. At least that's what I heard with the SHO a while ago.

  8. Of course I would prefer a good build. But, I would also prefer good communication. I have sold my old Dodge truck, have a vacation hinging on using the new truck, and Bank of America won't hold my loan approval over 40 days. I need honest, accurate info - that's all I'm asking. C'mon Ford - you read this blog - give us some information! I put my faith and dollars in you, give me some info. In case you want to REALLY help me out, here's my VIN - when do I get my truck? 1FT7W2BT0BEA34297

I'm up here in Canada, and I am not on the sales side anymore. However, below is what I have been able to find out according to CONCEPS (OUR ORDERING SYSTEM). Please understand that I don't know the latest information as per the previous post. Typically we do build and hold (to make sure everything thing is right with your new truck).

Your order was submitted into the system by your dealer on March 22.

As of April 17th, your new SD is scheduled for May 5th, with an estimated ETA of May 17th.

    Hope this helps

  9. I have the factory remote start in my 2010 flex.I start it with the remote but when I open the door to get in it shuts off.Any ideas :reading:

I have an 09 with remote start. I don't know the exact timing, but my shuts off after a few minutes if you don't insert the key.

  10. I saw my first 2010 Taurus today at the dealer. Let me remind you that I was the one who said the Flex would flop. Apparently it has. That being said, I think the 2010 Taurus has the potential to lead the auto industry out of the recession. The car is a winner! They got it totally right. With competitive lease/financing the factory should be working overtime.

I'm sorry......Flex has flopped? Are you kidding me???

  11. Now, I don't have the same contacts as I use to (work in a different part of the company), so I can't do any follow up but this....this is what an internal website says....

Sorry accidently pressed enter, I was trying to pretty up above..... but as of July 11th, your ETA is July 27th. Again, sorry I can't do any follow up for you....unforturnately, during a quality hold, the first in is last out.....don't dispair, you will will very happy when it arrives!!!

Put things in perspective (not that you want to hear this....) but an in-law of mine was told 10 to 12 weeks for his Venza....told him to cancel the order and make it a 2010....better yet ,buy an Edge

  12. The VIN number to my car is 1ZVBP8EN2A5133898. If there has been that many "quality" issues with my car then Ford shouldn't have a problem giving me an extended warranty for the trouble. There is no reason why my "made" car should be still sitting in a lot when I know a few Mustangs made right before mine and right after has been shipped. No reason to tell me twice in a week that my car should be here on Friday only to find out Friday that it never left Michigan.

Now, I don't have the same contacts as I use to (work in a different part of the company), so I can't do any follow up but this....this is what an internal website says....

  13. i like the black and the silver, but that atlantis green is growing on me

What about the Tri-coat white? I'm afraid it will look like a huge white car......but i like the colour...

Then there is Caddy Apple Red......everyone I know is telling me to get that colour....it will standout....blah..blah...

I'm still confused what to get......not a bad problem though....

  14. Windshield and cellphone camera notwithstanding, nice shots. :)

If you want some nice shots of the SHO go to

    http://www.netcarshow.com/ford/2010-taurus_sho/

Saw a non-sho last week. When you see it in the flesh you will ask yourself either one of the following questions (or both)

    1. What does the MKS have that the new Taurus does not have?

    2. Taurus may not be the right name for this car......it's to nice, to advanced...etc.

    Just my thoughts

  15. Maybe you can get to drive another Flex or two. Have you asked your Ford dealer about it?

    Good Luck.

Took my Flex into the dealership, they found the problem. It was just a grummet that was not fully installed. Behind the glovebox, the washer fluid line comes through the firewall. The grummet that holds the hose was not in properly. It’s fixed now....Don’t think you can get much quieter than a Flex....

  16. You missed the point. They're wheels, not rims. Rim is just the outside edge of the wheel. Tires fit on wheels.

I guess I missed the point. Don't know how much more accurate I could be.....Will let you all know about the insulation issue...if there is one.

  17. It was the first Flex I have driven and only for a few miles on surface streets. It was an impression I had while driving it. And I was listening for any little thing. It wasn't a shifting sound. It was almost as if some sound deadening insulation had been left out. I am sure that the trans was working fine. I did give it full throttle for a burst and there was no excess noise from the motor.

It is still on my list of Fords I may buy. I will test drive all I am considering before I decide.

I am encouraged by the fact that no actual Flex owners have had a problem.

It does sound as if some sound deadening isulation has been left out. You really have to be listening for it. My wife thinks I'm nuts...but I can hear it. You have to try to hear it...turn off the radio and climate and listen. There is nothing wrong with the tranny...it is very very smooth.....
