  1. The Democrats have used it as an obstructionist tool also. You know it's the truth but won't admit it.

I never said the dems didn't use it, but the republicans have put a who new meaning in the use of it to obstuct anything the senate has tried to do. Can you admit this is the most the filibuster has ever been used.

  2. Like I said, if the roles were reversed, the democrats would be doing the same thing.

They have never used like the Republicans are using it now. I believe they have filibustered 16 job bills so far. This is what Bitch McConnell meant when he said his top priority was to make President Obama a 1 term president. The Republicans want to make sure that the economy stays in the shitter so they can regain power, pretty pathetic.

  3. Ah yes, took what he said out of context. Seems to happen a lot from a guy who supposedly did very well in school (keep asking for those Romney tax returns guys, while Obama fights tooth and nail to keep all his records sealed)

Good to know that you didn't decide to fail just one history lesson today. Tell me, didn't Obama and the Democrats have full control on the Federal Government following the 2008 election? So why is it that it's the fault of those "obstructing" Republicans? Ah yes, because for Liberals, it's always easier to blame someone else than accept responsibility. And speaking of those awful Tea Party members. What did they campaign on again? I know this might be difficult for you to remember, since you clearly have forgotten what Obama campaigned on. Or maybe you do remember what he promised, but since you're so use to your party's politicians lying to you, you assume everyone else must be the same (kinda like how your ilk thinks the Right listens to everything Fox says, because after all, they themselves listen to everything Left Wing media spins). The TP have done what their constituents asked them to do; stop the socialist agenda.

The voters will decide (including the illegal ones the Left is bound and determined to keep), I just pray they are smart enough to see what has happened the last 4 years. And unfortunately, you have proven you are not.

Go look up filibuster and the number of times the Republicans have used it and get back to us.

Obviously you have no concept of what the environment was like in 1975 compared to today. The environment is dramatically better than at any time in the last 50 or so years. Nice attempt at deflection though.

Good to see you liberals are in favor of what is a very regressive tax as long as you see yourselves as being on the receiving end. Do you not feel even a little ashamed knowing that you are going take a very large percentage of your kid's income, at the very beginning of their careers, to subsidize people who are at the peak or near peak of their earning potential? Better get going on raising the voting age to keep that little benefit locked down.

I doubt that you really are worried about the future children in America as you are your own wealth.

  5. I could linkbomb at least ten videos of such instances. I'm guessing Marc has never watched someone get shot before, been shot, or been forced to shoot someone. I have experienced all three in various situations. The one time I did not respond to a threat, it took police 47 minutes to respond. By that time, the shooter was well gone. Six years later, the same guy killed again and went to prison. To this day, I hold myself responsible for the second death. If I would have had a firearm on me, the killer would not have lived to do it again. The police respond to crimes. It's citizens responsibility to stop them.

What makes you so sure that you would have been able to stop the perpetrator without getting yourself killed too.

  6. He had yet publish his findings nor has it been peer reviewed yet. More of the same.

Peer review never made a difference to the right before. Amazing it needs to be peer reviewed when it doesn't show the outcome you like. The fact is he was against before he was for it. Maybe he could be Romneys science adviser.

  7. You guys are freaking hilarious! So, your against bailouts? Or only when their used by a repub and actually work, and actually show a return of contributions! LOL!

    1) the olympic's would of been cancelled and the gov kicked in $$ knowing that spin-off revenue would more than be worth it.

    2) romney took over a corruption problem and "saved the day" whether you like it or not or whether you admit it or not.

    3) the only nit you can pick is that he didn't use private funding ONLY...REALLY??

    4) "You'd show a surplus too with more than a Billion dollar bailout" Actually NO, that's not neccesarily true, remember there were CORRUPTION ISSUES! So even if you gave a crook a trillion dollars, there STILL will be a problem!

Are you dizzy from all the spinning your doing.

  8. Not to mention that he also probably would have injured more people, and many of them would have suffered horrific burns that left permanent scars.

Would this have led to calls for gasoline control and fingers pointed at Exxon, Sunoco and BP?

For that matter, in 1995, Timothy McVeigh killed and injured many more people than Holmes did. And yet, we didn't enact tighter controls over fertilizer and Ford Econoline cargo vans.

Actually, there are proposals to regulate Ammonium Nitrate.

  9. Has Obama ever turned a profit on anything or is he still in the red with lost taxpayer funds????

Apparently you missed this from your own link~

    Quote~

Late 1998, the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City was rocked by a bribery scandal that threatened the Games. The top two officials in the Salt Lake Organizing Committee had to resign. The games were facing a $379 million deficit because sponsors were pulling out. Because they were short on money and many venues hadn't been built yet, politicians, business leaders and International Olympic Committee officials were suggesting the games be cancelled or moved to another location. (8),(9),(10),(11)

Because of his record for turning around businesses in the past, Romney was asked to take over the failing Olympics; he became the CEO for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in February of 1999.(11)

Romney immediately got down to business. He refused his salary and donated $1 million of his own money to the cause. He then streamlined the games by cutting costs and eliminating waste like fancy perks. Romney also brought in $180 million in revenue from new sponsors and broke the record for raising private money for an Olympics - winter or summer.(11),(12)

In the end, the Olympics were a huge success and the games actually turned a $100 million profit. Mitt Romney indeed saved the 2002 Winter Olympic Games.

    ~Reaganesque

They had a surplus because of the 1.5 Billion dollars he got from the U.S. tax payers.

    From NBC news. http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/02/18/10444876-salt-lake-city-olympics-earmarks-a-double-edged-sword-for-romney?lite

Although Romney spokeswoman Saul asserted that a majority of federal funding for the Olympics was for security, McCain, in leveling his charges, relied on a General Accounting Office report that documented a litany of direct and indirect federal earmarks for the Salt Lake Olympics that had little if anything to do with security. Among them: $645 million for new highways and roads, including a repaved mountain road to the Snow Basin ski resort, owned by a wealthy local oilman. There was also hundreds of millions more for light rail, parking lots, bus rentals, sewer construction, housing for the news media and weather forecasting — in addition to $161 million for security (a figure that climbed even higher after 9/11.)

Sounds like the only way there was a profit was because of the federal gov.

  10. The way I see it is....the ACA opened the door for employers to reduce benefits. Most if not all employers will drop medical because their competitors have dropped theirs...just like wages, once one major employer is able to stop the trend of yearly wage increases, they all stop....ie the auto industry....no increases in what...9 years....and if you haven't noticed the rest of the manufacturing sector is also at a wage standstill. It would have been very hard for any manufacturer to get away with this benefit loss prior to the ACA ....Even if you don't believe this premise....what are your negotiators going to have to give up to compensate the company for the difference between the $2000 penalty and the ever changing cost of insurance...

    just my opinion

But why would they provide it now. This will only affect the ones that don't provide it now, they will have to pay something.

  11. Furious....I'm concerned you may be jumping to conclusions as far as the affordable care act is concerned....I am of the opinion that this law will empower the business world to drop medical coverage to their employees...pay the $2000 fine per employee...and save much money....This law ....in my opinion was written to benefit business....not citizens like you and I....Politicians take care of special interests....and voters are not special...We are being enticed with expanded insurance options ....but the law was written to benefit business and insurance companies....neither of us will know the true benefits of this law for a few years down the road. We need to keep a very close eye on this law and change it quick if it doesn't do what the proponents say it will....we should all have the same insurance coverage....and it should be better then Ford/UAW retiree insurance...otherwise the poor still won't be able to go to the doctor.....

    just my opinion

Why would a business who provides coverage now and is not forced to drop their coverage and pay the $2000 dollar per head fine. Why don't they drop it know because no one is forcing them to provide coverage unless they have a labor agreement of which insurance is one of the negotiated benifits.

  12. Unemployment insurance is useless.

If you are a saver, you can live off your savings until you are re-employed.

If you have a job where you are never laid off, you are paying for nothing.

If you have no savings and get laid off, you are screwed anyway because you have to put in a waiting period. You will be forced to go out and get a job right away.

If you are a seasonal worker, your employer has a vested interest in getting you back because of your training. He has to pay you enough so you can put enough away to live on during the off season. If he knows that you will be eligible to collect Unemployment Insurance benefits, he can pay you less; so he is actually the one benefitting from it.

Out of the pool of money collected from payroll deductions to fund unemployment insurance, a large portion goes into administration. They have to figure out how much to pay each individual, and also police against fraud. It opens a whole can of worms. This drain on the economy creates a vicious circle creating more and more unemployment and adding to the government debt bubble.

If people started taking charge of their own finances instead of relying on the government to look after them, where would that leave the government? We wouldn't need the government.

Every government program that can be gotten rid of is one more chain removed from the people and one more nail in the government's coffin.

Here in the states there is no payroll deduction for unemployment insurance, it is payed into the system by the employer.

  13. Whosure in case you didn't notice in Wisconsin, the republicans had 6 senators up for recall in 2011 to 3 dems. The repubs lost 2 of those, the dems none. In 2012 4 repub. sen. faced recall with 1 lossing, so the trend looks more like people are sick of the Republicans to me than the Democrats.

  14. Wrong!!!! My wife & son will cancel both of those out :-) Keep trying you uneducated robots of the UAW....Let someone else think for you and tell you how to vote....unbelievable.

The only uneducated, are the Republican and Fox news Koolaid drinkers. Keep voting for the Koch brothers party and see were your wages are in the future. My wife and daughter will cancel your wife and son, my 2 other daughters will put us 2 up.

  15. We aren't, we are going to repeal it. By the way, did you hear the interview with Alan Greenspan Nap? He says Obumacare AKA Oshit, is very, very bad. He says we can't afford it, and it will finish breaking the bank.

That is what the BEST Federal reserve chairman of modern times stated, and since he is no longer political, I believe him long before I would believe Obuma or Mitt.

He also said we need to raise taxes, so I guess you'll believe that now to.

    Quote from the BATFE:

"Sell guns to every illegal purchaser who walks through the door".

Can you say conspiracy or complacency to circumvent the law, by law enforcement?

The gun shop owner knew it was wrong and was told / instructed to do so multiple times by the same people that enforce those same laws.

Now their memory and series of events time line is fuzzy.

Well then either LATimes article you linked to or the Fortune article is lying or just maybe the fortune article did a little more research before they decided to publish an account of fast and furious.

  17. The first two reasons were why people are criticizing the program. Along with the fact that it was designed to address a belief - that American border-state gun stores were the main source of supply for Mexican drug cartels - that is false. ATF personnel are supposed to be highly trained professionals. "Mistakes" and the "person managed to slip surveillance" rank up there with "the dog ate my homework."

Or were Lucy and Ethel running this program for the ATF?

If a private company had this sort of dismal record in an investigation, I would imagine that you would be all over it.

Saying that the "majority of weapons that ended up in the data base were reported after the purchase and archived" is playing fast and loose with excuses. "The majority" can be as low as 51 percent. That's not acceptable for this type of sting operation. That's like an automobile manufacturer saying that the "majority of our cars don't break down right after the warranty ends." Which means that 49 percent could be breaking down after the warranty ends. This was how the Big Three operated for years, and look where it got them (GM and Chrysler bankrupt and Ford nearly bankrupt.)

The ATF's JOB was to intercept ALL of those weapons. If it could not achieve a success rate at or extremely close to 100 percent, it had no business starting this type of operation in the first place.

The bottom line is that not only was this operation motivated by ideology as opposed to facts, it was poorly conceived and very badly run. It is a major blot on the ATF's record, and while it certainly isn't an impeachable offense for the president, the person(s) who were directly responsible for its operation should be fired. Holder, at the very least, should resign to save his boss (the president) any additional drama or grief.

The ATF couldn't intercept the weapons, they were legally purchased by the buyers which then they could resell if they so chose. This is what the ATF was investigating. They couldn't confiscate the guns after the prosecutor told them they didn't have sufficient evidence.

  18. You're absolutely right. The death of the United States economy will have no effect on any other nation, especially their closest trading partner.

Again, do you know how stupid you sound every time you post?

(don't worry, I'm sure one of the Obama apologist will come in and respond for you while you hide out)

You really are a Richard Cranium.
