  1. Brake squealing is usually caused by contamination on the pad surface. My brother taught me a neat little trick that usually gets rid of the sqealing:

Find yourself a big empty parking lot, drive the vehicle quickly in reverse and slam on the brakes. Repeat this 2-3 times and it will usually rid the pads of any contaminants that cause the squealing. Has worked like a charm on my Mazda6 when it did the same thing.

    Hey Nick:

Just wanted to say thanks again for your suggestion about my brakes. I tried this trick again this past weekend because there was still a little squeal. I now have no squeal at all. It's like having new breaks and now I don't have people staring at me !! Thanks again.

  2. Mike, Mine started sqealing really bad again so I did the same thing many times yesterday and I would say 80% is gone. Atleast its not as loud as it was before. It's really is bad when you have this nice new car that squeals so loud, people turn and look at you. I heard organic brakes are better, but do they wear faster?

    Well Hello There Lady:

Haven't heard from you in quite a while. Hope you are doing well.

My brakes are really so much better. I am so glad I got this good idea from my buddy in the forum.

I really don't know anything about the organic breaks. Hopefully someone will see your post and give you an answer. Sorry for not answering quicker but I just got back from vacation and wasn't available.

Wanted to let you know that your idea worked very well. I dare say that 90 % of the squeal is gone. I am going to try this trick a couple of more times to see if I can get it to stop all of the squeal but if not I'm still happy with these results. Thanks again !!

Thanks for the idea, I will sure give it a try. It is really irritating to come to a stop and sound like a 30 year old vehicle. It really is loud. I will let you know if it worked.

    Thanks again, Mike

  5. I got my 07 EB expy in Dec. of 07. Every now and then the brakes would squeal lightly when coming to a slow stop. For the last week they seem to be getting louder when coming to a slow stop. I have 20K already on the expy, so it's not a breaking in problem.

Anyone else having this problem ? What could cause the noise with the truck being this new ?

    Thanks for any input.

  6. Well our new 07 Limited El is a 9 days old now, She is Black with Black Charcoal Interior. This is our 4th EXPY after a 98, 01, and a 04. I will say this so far has been the best one. Rides so much nicer that our 04 "must have changed the spring rate", Seats are more comfortable ,5.4 3 valve is very responsive and smooth. Other than the 20 " wheels and air bags in the real she is fully loaded. If anyone is in the market for a Expy. the Limited is the way to go 0 percent down and for 36 months are payments are only 926.00 a month. i will try and post a pic of here soon

Enjoy your new expy!! It sounds beautiful so you have to post pictures so all of us expy crazies can see it. I bought my 07 EB in December and already have 20k on it. This is my 3rd expy and you are correct, this is the best made by Ford yet.

  7. Drove our '97 EB Expedition down to Boston for the last time, and traded her in for a new '07 Limited. We purchased it using the X-Plan, thanks to the generosity of a member of this forum, and got a GREAT deal. We can't believe that 10 years after we purchased our first Expedition (used), we purchased a new one that is superior in every way, for essentially the same $.

You folks at Michigan Truck build a great vehicle--We cannot believe how luxurious this ride is. Our dog loves it too. I've attached a picture of her first ride in the new White Pony--the first of many.

Great looking expy. I had a 98 expy for 7 years and then a 05 expy EB. I traded the 05 for the 07EB after reading about all the changes for 07. I'm stilled amazed and have over 20K on mine already. Enjoy your new expy!!!!

  8. Just our second day driving the new 2007 Expe and the puddle lamp on the passenger mirror popped out and was hanging by the wires. I unhooked it and tucked the wires for now. I'm taking it by the dealer tomorrow. Anyone else?

Hasn't happened to me and I now have over 20,000 on my 07 EB. It should be a quick fix for you.

  9. Thanks to the kindness of another member, we used an X plan pin to pick up a 07 Expe XLT. We love it so far. I'll keep you guys updated on the break in and any issues that may arise.

Great looking ride!!! Enjoy. I love mine. Already have 20,000 on it and just bought it Dec. 7th.

  10. You have managed to convince me that I need to try this lights out. My 03 expy had great lights but the 07 do seem to be very dim. I would love to have the same that you have.

What type of stores would have this stuff in stock ? Don't know where to really start my search for them.

  11. Our 07 EB air is not as cold as our 04 Expedition.

This is driving my wife nuts, we had the dealer check the air conditioner and they said it was normal.

The dealer refilled the freon to over full, it did help bit it is still not even as cold as my Focus.

    Anyone else have this problem??

My AC has not yet been a problem. Bought my 07 EB on Dec. 7th and now have over 16,000 miles on it. Live only 45 minutes from the beach on the east coast of North Carolina so you know we're already having 80 plus temps and very humid.

Hope you find a solution to your problem soon.

  12. I ordered 07 Expedition Eddie Bauer about a month ago (A plan). Gas prices were around 2.25 per gallon and I wasn't really concerned. Gas is now 3.29 per gallon and now I'm really concerned. The truck is for my wife who commutes around 100 highway miles per day, she's a teacher. I guess my question is what is everyone getting in terms of gas mileage, this will determine whether or not I cancel my order.

I thought I would add my 2 cents worth in since I also have a 07 EB expy. I think you will be happy with the gas mileage with what the expy offers. The 07 is by far the best that Ford has offered. I was happy with my 98 and my 05 but the 07 is really hands down the best made.

I live on the east coast with no hills, mtns, all flat land. I am not an aggressive driver. I average between 21.5 and 21.9 mpg. I think this is great considering what this machine offers in comfort and safety. I think you will love it and believe me, your wife will be safe inside of it.

  13. That's great. I've had a 98, 03 (Same as 05, correct?) and now a 2k7.

I shall install my Prodigy break controller this weekend and see how she does with the trailer. I think I'll be pleasantly surprised, especially with the load leveling suspension.

Let us know how it works out. I think you will be pleased.

  14. post-24912-1177174730_thumb.jpg This is my new Expedition.Got it in November and have been enjoying it.I have read some reviews and one made reference to wind noise.Maybe I am deaf but this is one of the QUIETEST vehicles I have ever driven.

Nice looking machine. I agree with you, the 07expy is very quiet and runs great. I can't believe how different it is from my 98 and 05.

  15. Thanks for the replies. I was able to order the Black exterior with camel/greystone.

We would have got camel/black but given we are in Central Texas, a black lined roof liner and carpet would have been just too much, especially with the heat down here in August-October.

Looking forward to getting it in a month or 2. No comparison to the Suburban and alot less $$$.

We got Nav, lift gate, tow, dvd, climate seats, and the 20"s.

When you get it, you have to post pictures. It is going to be beautiful. Would love to see that bad boy. Enjoy!!!!!

  16. Hello Pioneer:

Yes, I have used bleach white, etc. It appears that the white is literally disappearing on these new tires. But also happened to the continentals that I had on my 05 expy and I had it for only 1 year and 4 months. Plus the black part of the tire now looks OLD. I wash this bad boy at least once every two weeks so it isn't from not cleaning.

    Mike

  17. I bought my O7 expy on December 7th, 2006. I got the stock continental tires with the white letters. The white is already disappearing and the tires look like I have had them for two years rather than a matter of months.

This is my third expedition and all I have ever had is white lettered. On the GoodYear and Michilins, tires the lettering remained white and looked good when cleaned. This 07 and my 05 expys had the continentals and both set of tires looked bad after a matter of months.

I know from reading this forum that a lot of the members don't think much of the continental but the 07 stock tire has been very smooth and appears to be wider than the ones that came on the 05. I can't really complain about the ride of the tire.

To make this a shorter story, I would like to know if other members who have continental tires are also having this problem with new tires looking old after just months. Also, I have noticed black wall tires on a number of vehicles and they really look good, and I'm just talking about the physical appearance. I know the people who own some of these vehicles and know that they are at least 2 years old but the black wall tires still really look great.

Are black walls made differently and hold their looks longer ? Would appreciate your opinions.

  18. According to my salesman I can not get an 07 Black Eddie Bauer EL with Camel/Greystone seats, he says Camel/BLACK is the only option on a black exterior Eddie Bauer.

    Please tell me he's wrong..

And if I am buying it a dead invoice, would the X plan price be any better?

What does FDAF Assement mean? It's a $563 fee on the invoice..

    Thanks

    Hello DrOldschool:

I have an 07 eb with the camel/greystone. My truck is white with the trim gold. My second choice and really my first, was the black EB with the black/camel interior. I think you would be very pleased with the blk/camel because of the breakup that they do with the interior. I really wish I had chosen your color choice.

  19. proman, the only thing about Sirius is that I get drop outs occassionally. This is mostly when I pass under certain overpasses adn the like. Its not a lot, but you should be aware of it

Thanks for the info Falconman13. I think I'm going to give this a try. I love the sound of the radio in the 07 expy and Ellover indicated that the music sounds even better with the sirius.

    Thanks again, Mike

  20. I get the same, but its better than static sound... In the canyons though it comes in so nice, but if you are in a underground parking or under an overpass it does go blank for that time. Usually just really quick.

    Tiff:

Is there a particular name brand of tuner that is better than others ? The Sirius website didn't really help me with that. It indicated that I could get a 3 day free trial but I figured I needed the tuner and maybe other things before I could actually use it.

    Mike

  21. Hey Mike, you dont sound like an idiot at all. I love Sirius, hubby likes XM. Satellite radio sounds 1000% times better than FM, as good as CD's. I like in the canyons so I dont get very good reception with FM so I am now spoiled. Sirius was $195 when the Expy was built and I think its less than $10 a month. You should go to Sirius.com and try their 3 day pass to check out the stations. You can add it to your car and just plug it into the stereo system and it would sound just as good. Some prefer Xm and some prefer Siruis, I also heard a rumor that they might merge.

    Hope this helps some...

    Good Morning Tiffiny:

Thank you for explaining this to me. I will do some research and see if I would like this. I like the idea of commercial free radio. My only concern is having to buy a tuner, etc. Where would this go in the truck, would it mess up the looks of the inside of my expy ?

I guess I should have ordered Sirius when I ordered the truck. :shades:

    Mike

  22. Does anyone know how long the free sirius subscription was for? Im sure its changed over the past few months so this question would be for those that bought their Expy's when they first came out. I remember it being 6 months? I've had it longer then 6 months now and it didnt turn off, which I am not complaining but I am wondering if I was wrong about the time frame.

    Thanks

    Hello Tiffiny:

I'm not here to answer your question because I do not have a clue. I guess I am going to make myself look like an idiot but here goes.

I have never researched Sirius and really do not know what it offers and why I would want it. However, with everyone else seeming to have it and enjoying it I thought I would get you girls and guys to tell me about it.

I know it has something to do with satellite radio, but that's all I know. Why do people want this ? I love my expy radio and the sound it produces. Does the Sirius make it even better or does it just enable you to get more stations ? How much does it cost ? What makes it worth a price ?

Want to see if I want it after hearing from you.

    Thanks, Mike
