  1. I have a 2014 SHO and I am having an issue with the automatic climate control system. It just shuts off on its own, when it shuts off, it will always (so far) turn back on using the touch panel. I don't want to take it in to the dealer until it is really 'broken'.

Has anyone heard of similar issues or experienced this issue?

This issue only happens to me occasionally, from once or twice to several times a day. FYI - My car has about 56,000 miles.

I am trying to figure out if this is a low occurrence (rare) or more pervasive (frequent) on the 2013 and newer Taurus.

I took it to the dealer a few weeks ago and my dealer updated my Sync to the latest version, but it didn't have any affect on my problem. I don't have issues with calls or song or artist, just the HVAC. It seems to turn the climate control system off after running for about 5 or 10 minutes and then it is usually good for the rest of my 50 minute drive. Occasionally it will turn off repeatedly several times in a row and then run fine for an hour. This doesn't happen very often, but is tiresome when it does.

    Any information is appreciated.

  2. Thank you ice-capades! I am glad I bought my '14 when I did because I love the Ruby Red Metallic paint and I got a great deal.

Does anyone know what the "Magnetic Metallic" paint looks like e.g. similar to gray, green, blue, etc.?

  3. This is what I expected and I grew tired of waiting so I bought a new 2014 Taurus SHO in Ruby Red Metallic with everything except the Performance Package using x-plan. I bought the car last Saturday (3-15-14) and so far I love it even more than I hoped. All of the reviews that degrade the present car don't understand what it actual is, which is a great large car that is smooth, powerful and performs well. On a side note, knocking the My Ford Touch is unwarranted for the 2014 Taurus because all of the controls except for the heated and cooled seats and heated steering wheel are available as captive touch buttons below the screen. Disclaimer** This is my opinion and does not reflect the position of the forum or website administrators.

  4. The seats in my 2013 SHO are Mayan Gray. I have had this Taurus for 1 1/2 years and they have not worn at all. Yes, the seat portion is stitched to the leather.

Thank you yepper for your feedback.

I think that the Mayan Gray seats look awesome in the Taurus, but I wanted to make sure that they were wearing well.

  5. I believe the 2015 Ford Taurus Order Bank opens this week, Friday, March 14, 2015, if my sources are correct.

Does anyone know when and where I can find an order guide for MY2015? Will I need to wait until after the order bank opens? I really would like to get a copy before I go to the dealer, so I am prepared.

Thank you for any information you can share!

  6. I don't currently own a SHO, but I am very close to buying one. I am still trying to decide on color and I am also trying to decide on the interior. The color choice is tied to the interior choice for me.

Does anyone who owns a SHO with the Mayan Gray interior have thoughts or an opinion on the durability of the material? I am concerned that the Mayan Gray interior will not wear as long as the standard leather seats. Also, how is the seat portion attached, is the suede stitched to the leather?

Thank you in advance for your input. :)

  7. Umm....no. Ford only makes cars when a dealer orders one. Why won't you just pay the dealer for shipping to get what you really want? The only other option is to find it yourself at an out of state dealer, travel there yourself and drive it back which will probably cost you the same as the dealer shipping fee. Otherwise just order a 2015 and wait a little longer.

Agreed, having my local dealer either find me one or ordering a 2015 seems most likely. I was hoping there was another option than paying for shipping twice. It will probably be worth it in the long run.

I may also wait to see what changes are made to the MY 2015 before I decide. Does anyone know when the order guide will be available for the 2015 Ford Taurus.

  8. I am looking for a new 2014 Ford Taurus SHO and there are very few available in my state, none with the colors and options I want. My question is, does the factory make extra (unallocated) cars that weren't ordered by a dealer and could I get one of these cars through my local dealer.

The order bank for MY 2014 closes this Friday and I don't want to "pull the trigger" until mid-March. I have spoken to some of the dealers around here and they are all willing to trade an out of state dealer for one, but because I am x-plan I would have to pay shipping from the trading dealer to my dealer. I already have to pay shipping to the original dealer, it is included in the price. I understand that this is a real cost that will be past on to the customer, but I would like to find a new one that can be shipped to my dealer.

I may have to see what I can find out of state and work something out with a local dealer trade.

Does anyone here know of any options to get a new Taurus SHO outfitted like I want without ordering?

  9. silvrsvt,

I do expect there will be new colors and (maybe) wheels, but I am hoping the Dark Side color stays for one more year on the SHO. I am still looking but, leaning (STRONGLY) to the Taurus SHO and there are not any Dark Side SHO's in my area and I don't expect to be in the market until mid to late summer. I am planning on having to order and after next month that would be 2015.

Did the tune on your SHO affect fuel mileage or drivability?

  10.

There was an attribute mule running around earlier this year that was a modified Fusion with a funky rear end and a MKZ nose on it.

Flat Rock will be getting the MKS and Taurus in 2015 or so, The Mustang is getting flexed in with the Fusion production line when it goes into production next Spring/Summer. The Mustang line will get ripped out and then the Taurus/MKS line will go in its place.

    I wouldn't expect a new car till end of 2015 as a 2016MY car.

silvrsvt, That is what I am hearing also and I believe that the 2015 will be little changed (if any) because the order bank is scheduled to open for the 2015 MY Taurus 3/15/2014 with a Job 1 date of 6/2/2014. What I don't know but would like to know, is what changes will happen for MY 2015? Does anyone know when the order guide will be released? I assume it will be around the time of the order bank opening. Will anyone have access to post an order guide when it is released?

I am really hoping that the 'Dark Side' color continues as an SHO option for MY 2015.

    Thank you for your input.

  11. It appears that it's just Flat Rock that is starting production early. This might have to do with the changeover required for the new Mustang. Hermosillo won't be starting 2015 production until July 14, which is essentially the same as it was this year.

    timf,

Thank you for the update! This means I would probably need to move up my purchase date and get a 2014. I am still trying to decide if I will get the Fusion for sure. I have a couple of other vehicles I like and I will have this next one for quite a while so I need to be sure it is everything I want and need. Which is one of the reasons ordering makes sense. Either way I now have the information I need for my decision. I am sure I will be around BON, because all of the vehicles on my list are Ford or Lincoln.

  12. The order guides usually aren't posted until after the order banks open, so by then it will be too late to order a 2014. I doubt there will be any major changes for the 2015 model year, since it's the third year of production and things generally settle down by that point. If you are concerned over potential changes (i.e. if Brick Red is discontinued), you can always ask a dealer to place an order for you and decide not to take delivery when the car arrives if you aren't ready for it.

Good points timf! I think I will be fine waiting and ordering in early June like I had planned. It does make sense that any changes to the 2015 MY would be small or cosmetic. Do you have any idea why the change over is so much earlier next year. It doesn't make sense to change model years and very little else so early in the year. FYI - I thought that this year was early.

I will definitely be on this board quite often over the next 9 months.

  13. The window sticker was issued on the 12th. I just checked and the car was built yesterday (17th). Woot woot!!

That is awesome news, I am happy for you. I can't wait to see pictures. Thank you for helping me live vicariously through you.

  14. toduncom,

I just noticed the cutoff dates for 2014 and start dates for 2015 have already been published. It's earlier than this year, so you will most likely be forced into a 2015. Keep in mind that since Dark Side is a specialty color (as opposed to common colors like black/gray/white/red), there's a good chance it may not carry over to 2015.

    2014 Final Order Date: 3/14/2014

    2015 Initial Order Acceptance: 3/17/2014

    2015 Scheduling Begins: 4/17/2014

    2015 Production Begins: 5/27/2014

(Side note: The MKZ timetable is 1-2 months behind the Fusion)

    timf,

thank you so much for the actual dates. This is the information I was waiting to see.

I can't make my decision quite yet, but these dates would align well with August or September delivery dates for a 2015 MY. I don't know that I will go with the Dark Side even if it is available. I am starting to think it is to dark for my tastes and I believe I prefer the Sterling Gray with the Red Brick interior. I am more concerned about the auto stop/start feature. I think this will prove to be hard on batteries and obviously starting motors, and I don't believe it is necessary or value added for me. I don't want this technology on my next car, maybe the one after that after if it is further developed. I want a Titanium AWD Fusion with heated/cooled seats and heated steering wheel. I have some other wants that are negotiable but like ready set smoke says, I want to order exactly what I want.

Do you think it will be possible to know what will be available or see the order guide for the 2015 MY before the 2014 order date closes? I may go with an MKZ if the Fusion of my dreams is unavailable. I have several contingency plans.

Thank you for the information! I appreciate you keeping me as informed as possible to make an intelligent decision for my next vehicle purchase.

  15. I originally wanted this car ordered in May of this year. The dealer that I deal with ran out of allotment for Fusions, and I was unable to find another dealer before Ford closed the order bank. So I waited, and waited, and waited. Then in July-ish Ford USA updated their build and price to 2014 Fusions. It wasn't until mid-November the Ford Canada updated their Fusions. So I spent a crap pile of time on Edmund's, Cars.com and sites like that, deciding, agonizing over options. When I finally ordered the car in mid-September their were very few cars available to look at with the new options. I was only able to find 1 car with the red interior and fell in love with it instantly. Well, that and I hated the all black of 2013 cars. When I asked dealers about heated and cooled seats and heated steering wheels, they just cocked their heads to the side like I was some kind of idiot and they weren't sure how to get rid of me. After I convinced them that "Yes, Ford is going to build cars with those options for the 2014 MY", I always got "Well that's news to me interesting to see one". To which I thought "No crap, that's why I'm here". So now that my car is finally rolling along (I finally have a window sticker), I'm getting super excited about it. It will be nice to drive something more affordable than my 2008 F350 as a daily driver. For me, the days are dragging on and on. Being on here and living vicariously through those that are already loving their cars is all I have right now. You have the advantage of being able to go down to a Dealer prior to ordering and seeing all the options and deciding which ones you must have, really want and aren't that important to you. I had to decide sight unseen on a couple of choices, but there were a lot that I was able to play with on cars on the Dealer lot. Make sure you get exactly what you want. Their isn't a whole lot better than getting the vehicle EXACTLY as you want it, and ordering is something I recommend to everyone I talk cars with. I've ordered the last 2 trucks and now this Fusion and I can't wait for it to get here.

It sounds like you have been through a lot to get your car ordered. I hope the build and delivery go quickly. I am excited to get exactly what I ordered, that probably increases owner satisfaction. Please keep me informed on the build of your car.

I am hoping to order one too, maybe very similar soon. I may order sooner than I really wanted to if there are changes that I don't want next year. I am hearing that 70-80% of Fords in North America next year will have the automatic start/stop feature. I don't need this feature, as I mostly drive on the highway and I don't want this feature because I believe that it will cause starters and batteries to fail much sooner. I also don't like the idea that the A/C stops when you are stopped and the car turns off. If this is the only way to get a Fusion Titanium next year, I will have to make adjustments.

Sorry for the rant, but Fords upcoming features may impact when I buy/what year car I order. If I wait I may have to go to another brand for my car and I really like the Ford, and the Red Brick Interior.

  16. Heated and Cooled seats are available with all three seat colors. The Edmunds site is incorrect. As you may already know, you can't get Brick Red seats with Dark Side (only white/gray/silver/black).

The cutoff dates for ordering 2014 models aren't known yet, but there should be plenty of notice. Check back here because you salesman likely won't be as well informed on the dates as our sources. You will pay less for a late 2014 model than you will for an early 2015 model, so if it doesn't matter to you what model year your car is I'd go ahead and get in a 2014 order right before the cutoff.

That makes sense, I didn't expect Edmunds to be 100% correct. I didn't know that Red Brick was unavailable with Dark Side, but I am kind of picky and wouldn't want that color combination. I either want Red Brick with Sterling Gray or Medium Soft Ceramic with Dark Side. Either way I know I want the H Spoke Dark Stainless rims and cooled seats with heated steering wheel. The seats and steering wheel are mostly for my wife, but I am sure I will like them too.

I understand the 2014 would likely cost less than the 2015 MY. That isn't really too big of a deal to me as long as it's not thousands. I am more concerned about getting what I want and time/availability. I would like to buy in either August or September and plan to order in time to hit these dates. I am just curious what model year this timeframe would be, because based upon 2013 the change over in ordering was in either March or April with Job 1 dates in June. (I have been following BON for quite a while) I have always been interested in the process of ordering a new car, but I have never ordered my own. I have purchased what was available on the lot for the best deal. With x plan, I don't think it matters as much anymore and I want what I want.

It is great to have a website like this to discuss thoughts and learn what is to come on the cars. Thank you all.

  17. The "H-Spoked" rims weren't talking to me, so I went with the "Y-Spoked" rims. Now I may be second guessing that. The H's look a little darker, and may look more in place once I get all the windows tinted. I have seen the Y's on the same colored car, and they don't look out of place. I don't know, it's one of those decisions I try not to think about anymore.

I understand you not wanting to think about those decisions anymore. Make your best decision and move on. I sweating the decisions and changing my mind back and forth and I am 6 months out from ordering. I may drive myself crazy. I have never ordered a new car before, I have always bought them off of the lot from the selection available.

I am sure that the waiting will be tough, but exciting. I hope the time passes quickly.

  18. Yes the heated / cooled seats with brick red interior are currently being built. I've got mine optioned that way. The cooled seats are no where to be found on the US or Canadian Ford sites. The heated steering wheel can't be found either, but that option is also available and being built now.

Let me know when you get your car, I would love pictures.

I was just on Edmunds trying to see how I would order my car and when I chose the heated and cooled seats, it required a switch to the Medium Soft Ceramic interior and it made the switch for me. If this is correct, I may switch to the Dark Side with the Medium Soft Ceramic interior instead of the Sterling Gray with Red Brick.

I realize that Edmunds is not Ford, but the cooled seats and Medium Soft Ceramic interior aren't currently available as options on Ford.com. I will continue with my research.

Thank you to everyone here for all of your support and feedback.

  19. I've got a Sterling Grey exterior with Brick Red Interior, supposed to be delivered January 13th.

That sounds like a great color combination. It is the exact colors I am thinking I may get. I am also thinking about the Dark Side, but I haven't seen any in person yet, so I am still undecided. I think I am 70% Sterling Gray, though.

Did you also order the H-Spoke 19" dark stainless steel rims/tires too?
