If you are in an appointed union position there shouldn't have to be a by-law to make you go to meetings. Believing in the UAW and its causes should be an instrument for choosing people for these positions.

Go to your local job center and see how many of these good jobs are left. Corporate greed is at an all time high. If you don't think so check out Fortune 5oo's top 1000 companies and how much money they made last year. Then come back and blame the welfare system. Thank you to GW and his band of pioneers. Its the poor guys fault. Thats hogwash

The same mindset that you complain about is the one that has set you up to be able to work overtime and make over 75 grand. Those so called "richest poor people" you speak of could have been hired by Ford Motor Co. instead of you. You are all living in a "me" mindset. Lima is a stand alone plant. No in zone to worry about. He asked about Lima. If he decides to return to production at time of lay-off, he will be called back by senioity in his trade. End of story

How many 1973 hires were working from 1980 until 1985 or 86. Everyone that hired in the 70's is reliving the negative cycle of the automobile industry for the 2nd time. Give these people a break. They know people that hired in 4 years before them that have been retired for 5 years while they have 10 to 15 more years to go. Doesn't seem right to me

I have a friend (not at a UAW shop) that was told last week that the place he was working is closing at the end of the month. He will get hooked up with the Dept. of Job and Family Services. While he collects his un-employment they will try and help find him a new place of employment..The best jobs that they have on the books right now pay about 12 bucks an hour. That's reality. It is time for people on this forum to start paying attention to what the UAW negotiated JSP program has done for them. Hell, this guy would have moved his family for one of our jobs BEFORE HE LOST HIS!! We make great wages, great bennies and have a JSP program that gives us two oppurtunities to continue this lifestyle if we so choose or they offer us thousands of dollars to move on and look for other work. No where else in the world does this happen. All I can say is thank you UAW for the job security that has been negotiated for me

Amen Wake-Up. And the "old" that cared more about co-workers having a job than how much overtime they could get if that guy or gal wasn't there. Or the "old" that knew that dealing with change was difficult but understood that the UAW leadership had the best interest of the membership on thier minds when tough decisions were made. Never in history has there been such an assault on organized labor as there is today. I am afraid that there are going to be a whole bunch of people that learn the hard way how important the UAW is to all of us. I don't know if many of you have looked around your communities to see what other job oppurtunities are out there but an entry level job with collective bargaining rights will still be in high demand. You can bet on it.

Who do you think made this all possible for you to transfer and get lump sums of money to do it. I promise you that it wasn't Ford Motor Co.. It was that joke union you speak of. If it was up to Ford Motor you would be back in Va. collecting unemployment.

If you don't trust the UAW, I have a game plan for you. Take the buy-out and tune in to Rush Limbaugh every day. He has all the answers. Maybe you can become a millionare like him by bashing Bill Clinton on a daily basis. Maybe you can hook up with a Bush or Cheney family member and live happily ever after. Maybe you can become a pioneer for GW. The system that wants to protect big insurance companies and drug companies (who ,by the way, are all pioneers who have donated millions of dollars to the Republicans) will sell out working class Americans for the sole purpose of making a profit. I will take my chances with my brothers and sisters in the UAW who have fought for working men and women for my entire lifetime. The very people that have polarized politics in this country have infiltrated our ranks and it's about time that it stops. If you don't want to be a part of it, take a buy-out and sign up for a job at the closest temp agency. The owners of these agencies are also pioneers. Do you see a pattern here. Solidarity is the answer.

They can keep workiing at the temp agencies for $7.00 an hour. Take a look around and see what else is out there. The UAW did the right thing here and time will prove it

I am here to tell you that people will be lined up for our entry level positions. I get calls everyday from people that would do aything for one of those jobs. Quite frankly if they would have had the same retiement plan (401K) style when we all hired in, we would be just fine. Contrary to George W's latest spin the economy is not in good shape and where I am from most hourly jobs are paying between 7 and 12 dollars an hour with less benefits than our entry level positions will get. Those are the facts so if anybody is selling out the future employees, it is not the UAW. It is a system that has allowed temporary employment agencies to become full time employers. This is modern day slavery and nobody seems to care. At least a new hire in the UAW will have a fighting chance to increase his or her compensation through the collective bargaining process. That was the road that Ford Motor was headed down until these negotiations, outsourcing non-core work to companies manned up by temp agencies. I think that the UAW has just made a huge step to secure the future of working class Americans. Good job guys. Merry Christmas

Understand the competitive gap to best-in-class competitors and pursue mutually acceptable methods of closing the gap. Implement necessary changes to allow Ford North America to create a competitive platform to be considered for future business versus the global alternatives. Right out of appendix J. It doesn't hurt to think outside the box and people who do shouldn't be looked down at but applauded.

I didn't say anything about Bob King. I am talking about you my friend. Look at the way that you react to people that disagree with you and you want to preach solidarity. What a joke. Nobody said anything about stealing work from other plants or closing down other plants. Nice try though. I have more union blood in my bones than you will ever have. I just don't have the position to come on here and act like somebody important.

Solidarity my ass. They have been eliminating production jobs for thirty years and the trades went untouched. Never heard a word. You are an embarressment to the UAW if you were negotiating my contract. Don't act like you care about production jobs now. It's all about your ass time. Whipsawing is exactly what happened in the national contract. The people in Lima deserve new work just as much as anybody but because of people like Level, it didn't happen. A personal vendetta against one plant is not solidarity.

Cleveland 1 got an additional increment of D-35. They already split the first three legs with Lima. Read what it says in the product commitments. Lima people have the right to be upset about this thus my statement about voting down the wrong one. Hope this helps clarify my statement.

I am afraid that it is very much the issue. How do you suppose politics are played at the national level. There are plants that very much have earned new work (like Lima) and there are people that worked very hard for the last couple months to smear the image of these plants. Be careful who you trust , it might come back to haunt you.

As I said before you have the wrong person. Any chairman that has time to spend on Blue Oval is not serving his membership. Level, please explain how the decision was made on sourcing work to Cleveland so the people in Lima can better understand the fishy smell

The Republicans were in control of our National Gov. for 8 years and we are living the results . Enough said. George W,s assault on the voice of the working man AKA (unions) has resulted in the biggest devide between rich and poor in this nations history. The big oil people are raking in billions a quarter and this administration still has you bashing the unions. Karl Rove and Fox news have taken over the country. For years organized labor created a middle class standard of living worth going to work for. With the decline in union numbers went the decine in the standard of living for all working class people and you still believe that the unions are to blame. Please
