  1. I can update you guys when my 2012 Fusion Sport with Navi starts being built; currently its been processed and thats it. The order went through 3 weeks ago.

What's the update here? If I build a 2012 on Ford's website I still cannot select a navigation system.

  2. My friend Aleksei from Russia who I was with at the Focus Global Drive in Madrid, was invited to Dearborn this week.

Aleksei has a new Focus to drive while he is in the USA and I asked him to check the seat heater if it is both seat cushion and back rest, and I can confirm that the USA Focus

heated seats are both seat and lower back cushions.

This did translate into the production Foci available now, right? The seatbacks are heated as well as the lower cushion?

  3. thanks for sharing, good to see the different trim line interiors, and was surprised the SEL IP is the Fiesta like keypad, thought the SEL would have the Sony as standard.

Also found it odd that the heat seat is only the seat cushion and not the lower seat back as well, this is IMO a low rent cheaping move. Probably not an issue with 99% of

consumers but seems an odd ommission when the rest of the car is quite a step above the usual North American C class stuff.

Looks good and the pricing is very good.

Agreed 100% on the seat heat concerns. Can anyone confirm that the seatback is not heated? It's hard to get excited over a feature if it's only partially implemented.

  4. 2010 Fusion SEL purchased 5/2010 and manufactured 9/2009 when the latch in the trunk is pulled the seat flips down quickly and smoothly.

I'm surprised there is as much variability in this as there seems to be. Hopefully mine will loosen up; I'd hate to have to haul it back to the dealer and have an (invariably) greasy tech smudge up my interior! Other than a few other minor nit-picks, I love the car. The ride and handling balance is, in my opinion, hands down the best in the segment.

  5. So I have yet another question! According to my owner's manual, the leather in my 2010 Fusion has a protective clear coat, meaning I should not use oil- or petroleum-based conditioners on it. However, under the "advice" heading on Ford's owners website, it specifically recommends Lexol cleaner and conditioner be used. I assume the cleaner is safe, but do the seats need conditioning if they are coated, and if so, isn't Lexol conditioner oil-based?

  6. They should automatically flip forward (spring loaded) but sometimes they get cought, especially when new.

I think this is what is happening on the "60" side of the split, as the spring loaded flip occurs after I rotate the seat manually about 30 degrees. On the "40" side of the seat, it seems pretty stuck in the latch and I have to give it a good jerk after pulling the release in the trunk. Do you think they'll loosen up or should I have the dealer take a look?

  7. Well, I'm happy to report I ended up purchasing the Fusion. The other day I noticed that after using the releases in the trunk for the split folding rear seats, I still had to go and manually pull the seats down; they did not flip down themselves. I was under the impression they were supposed to do this. Can anyone clear this (minor) point up for me?

    Thanks.

  8. Pretty sure the mount is the same - not sure about the wiring. If you a pre-2010 or early build 2010 then you'll lose the Sync microphone since it's in the mirror.

I checked and the vehicle my dealer located is a Job 3 Fusion, so the SYNC microphone is in the headliner. If the mount is the same, I don't have to worry about breaking the windshield. That just leaves the compass readout...will it just be blank in the mirror, or can I hook the compass up through the mirror as opposed to the navigation display?

  9. If the colors are slightly different then the part numbers won't be the same.

Which is exactly why I checked the numbers. Since they are not the same, I'm now trying to track down a straight answer regarding the Homelink mirror mount: is it the same as the factory auto-dimming mirror mount?

  10. The visors are not the same part numbers because they are different pieces M.kz has the homelink. As far as colours they are very close just compare colours at the dealers there are 3 different colours for each car but are similar in hues. Gray , Camel and black. As I stated before forget about the homelink mirror or you will have to replace the windshield because it will break when trying to remove mirror.

But I asked that the parts person I was speaking with compare the part numbers on the passenger side (not driver side) sun visors, assuming those would be identical. Also, I assumed the factory auto-dimming mirror and accessory auto-dimming Homelink mirror would utilize the same mount; I thought installation would be a simple matter of popping off the old one and popping the new one into place. Is this incorrect?

  11. I've encountered issues with both methods for obtaining Homelink in my Fusion:

    1) If I go the Homelink mirror route, the best I can find is an auto dimming Homelink mirror with compass readout and w/o temperature readout. However, since my navigation system already displays the compass in the nav screen, does this mean I'll just have a blank display on the mirror itself? I'm looking at part number 4L3Z-17700-A. Is there a mirror that is just auto-dimming with Homelink and w/o any other readouts?

    2) I called the parts department at my Ford dealer and was told the Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ passenger visors are not the same model number, which to me says they will not match in style/color/etc if I try to obtain a Homelink visor from an MKZ. Can anyone confirm that these part numbers are indeed different?

  12. I haven't heard of significant changes for the Fusion

but there have been a couple rumors that the Milan and MKZ might get a refresh for 2011my and be shown at the NYC autoshow...

...if so, their Order Guides could be delayed until the March 31 press day

otherwise/in general, the O.G.'s come out around the time the order bank opens

With the order banks for the 2011 Fusion opening today (March 22nd), when is it reasonable to assume the 2011 Order Guide will be available?

  13. Your easiest solution for what you want is to pick up a drivers side visor for a lincoln Mkz . It includes the factory homelink buttons and will bolt right in. Do not bother to remove your exsiting mirror as they are a very tight fit to the windshield and glass is most likely to break when you try to remove the mirror.

That's an idea I hadn't considered. I'm looking at the charcoal interior so I can't imagine the colors would be different. Does the MKZ use the same visors as the Fusion, aka the same style, mirror, mirror-lighting system, and fabric? (If it was any different from the passenger side mirror (save for the Homelink buttons), that would annoy me to no end.) Also, would the Homelink require additional wiring or can it draw power from the vanity mirror lighting?

  14. You're welcome! On nav equipped Fusions, the compass readout is displayed on the top portion of nav screen, left of the clock. . But I think the situation is the same as if it was displayed in the message center, because it's not displayed within the rearview mirror itself, as with part # 4L3Z-17700-B.

Ok an additional question. Assuming 1) that the SYNC microphone has indeed been relocated on Job 3 Fusions and is no longer an issue, 2) the navigation system handles the external temperature readout and compass displays, and 3) I'm able to order the auto-dimming mirror with just the Homelink system (but not the compass or external temperature readout), then will this accessory mirror simply "plug in" to the existing wiring for the factory auto-dimming mirror, ie the Homelink functionality requires no additional wiring? If this is the case, I should be able to just unmount the factory auto-dimming mirror and mount the accessory mirror in its place with just a single "plug in" connection, meaning I can do it myself with no labor charges!

Again, thank you so much for your help!

  15. Hi Geniusjustin, here's my take on your questions:

1.) The SYNC microphone has indeed been relocated from the top of the autodimming ISRV to the headliner (driver's side) on Job 3 Fusions. I presume you are referring to part # 4L3Z-17700-B on the fordaccessories.com site; according to the description this mirror is "not applicable on vehicles with the factory-installed, interior compass mirror," which is the case for Job 3 Fusions with SYNC. Then again, it may work fine.

2.) The existing temperature probe only has a single connector, so it would be either/or in that case unless you add a second probe and connect it the mirror. I'd recommend talking to a technician whether part # 4L3Z-17700-A would work on the 2010 Fusion SEL. This is the autodimming Homelink mirror without the ambient temperature display, for vehicles with the compass display in the message center.

3.) On the Fusion, the manumatic function is only available on V6 models.

Thank you so much aneekr. One question: do navigation-equipped Fusions have a compass readout in the message center (is this the display between the gauges?)?

  16. Hi All,

I'm very near purchasing either a new 2010 Ford Fusion SEL 4-cylinder automatic or a Mazda3 (strange duo to compare I know, but that 2012 Focus isn't out yet!). I have a few questions my salesman can't seem to answer, so I hope someone on this forum has the answer:

    1) I read on this forum that 2010 Job 3 Fusions have relocated the SYNC microphone from the rearview mirror. Does this mean the accessory auto-dimming rearview mirror with Homelink, compass, and external temperature display will now work in Fusions with SYNC? I really want the Homelink system as I don't want to clip the garage door opener to the visor. It's 2010 people!

    2) If the answer to 1) is yes, does this mean I'll have two external temperature displays, one in the rearview mirror and another in the navigation display?

    3) Does the SEL 4-cylinder automatic have a manumatic shift function, or is that just on V6 models?

Thank you so much for your input. Try as I might, I've been unable to get these questions answered elsewhere.
