  1. Anyone else awaiting their 2012?

I put an order in for an Screw last week. Already starting to get excited.... how about anyone else?

I ordered mine early Sept. got an e-mail from my sales lady a week or two ago. She gave me the VIN and said that it would be built Nov.21 and that 3 weeks later or there about it should arrive.

    I hope this helps.

Yeah, I'm excited. I ordered a 2011 but later they told me the Nav could not be produced, so I cancelled it and ordered a 2012 Platinum 5.O 4x4 with side steps and tailgate step. Tuxedo Black.

  2. A Gallup survey released on August 17th had 71 percent of Americans disapproving of the way Obama is handling the economy, with 26 percent approving (which is a new low). In addition, the economy will need to add at least 250,000 net new jobs per month between now and November 2012, just to get the unemployment rate below 8 percent. Given the horrible economic news lately, in which the economy for the first two quarters was reported to be hovering near "stall speed" and threatening a new recession, there is little prospect for the economy to produce 3.5 million new jobs between now and election day.

Obama promised to announce his new jobs plan after he returns from his vacation at Martha's Vineyard. (If I were out of work right now, I would find this to be insulting.) His first jobs plan, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act -- aka the Stimulous Bill, originally estimated to cost $787 billion, but in reality, approached $1 trillion -- failed miserably. Obama will not get another expensive economic stimulous bill passed through this Congress, so his new jobs plan would have to entail a radical departure from his economic, tax, and regulatory positions. That's not likely to happen. And Obamacare, which is stifling job growth, is still out there.

Therefore, there is a high probability that a weak economy and high unemployment will be the top issues among voters in the months leading up to the election. And the national debt -- another top-of-mind issue -- just keeps on rising, with no sign of abating.

Yes, the election is over a year away, but two-thirds into his first term, it's apparent that Obama cannot campaign on his record so far, and he has offered nothing to indicate that he is willing to reverse course.

I disagree. The Republicans in Congress got spanked in the 2006 election because of their failure to live up to their mission of limited government. (They probably got spanked because many Republican voters were too turned off to bother to show up to vote in the mid-term election.) Before the 2010 mid-term, some Republican incumbants lost in primaries because of the rising influence of the Tea Party Movement. Most of those who retained their seats got the message. Even before the 2010 election, not one Republican in Congress voted for Obamacare -- they were getting and reflecting their constituents' message. The message is abundantly clear: Stop the spending madness! I am no fan of John McCain as a politician, but I appreciated it when he accurately described this spending madness as "generational theft." It has to stop, and I have heard nothing from anyone in the Democrat party on what to do about the problem except to raise taxes on the rich, when the top 10 percent of income earners already pay 70 percent of federal tax revenue. No, to mangle a phrase from James Carville: It's the spending, stupid. Most of the current Republicans get this; most of the ones who don't will be challenged in the 2012 primaries. Count on it. The S&P credit-rating downgrade was a serious wake-up call (as well as a serious blemish on Obama's record).

At this juncture in our nation's history, the best scenario, in my book, is to rid our government of as many of the free-spending, free-lunch-believing Keynesian policy makers as possible. And that includes the current occupant of the Oval Office.

Also, there are at least three other things worthy of consideration:

    1) It will be a cold day when Obama, in his second term, signs a repeal of Obamacare. Highly unpopular and destructive to the economy, the repeal of Obamacare will be a major plank on the 2012 Republican platform. I don't know whether you like Obamacare, but if you don't, then you shouldn't want him reelected -- to the extent you want Obamacare repealed.

    2) Do you really want a second-term Obama to nominate even more incompetent hacks to the Supreme Court, such as he did in his first term with Elena Kagen and Sonia Sotomayor?

    3) Are you entirely satisfied with Obama's judgment regarding his selection of key cabinet appointees, such as the likes of Timothy Geithner and Eric Holder and Hillary Clinton?

When our country had one-party rule during the last eleven years, the national debt and the deficit were not top-of-mind issues among voters. The Tea Party people had yet to emerge. (I credit Rick Santelli of CNBC with his

on February 19, 2009 with getting the ball rolling for the Tea Party movement.) Thanks to the Tea Party movement, I would submit that in the present environment, no politician -- outside of safe districts in liberal enclaves -- is immune to voter scorn over excess government spending. And as he has demonstrated so far, President Barack Obama has no desire to cut back on spending. To the contrary, Republican congressional, senatorial, and presidential candidates have gotten and embraced the message -- the message that is resonating: It's the spending, stupid. To that end, in the current state of the economy and our national debt, I'll take a Republican majority in both houses and the executive branch every day of the week. The Democrats hate the Tea Party message, which is all the more reason to vote them out of office.

    I AGREE 100%!!!

  3. Saw this (on TV) the other day, and although I agree with the spirit of the message, I thought Ford (the company) was avoiding ads such as this (as a policy). Why the change (if there was one)?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_mwjaEI_hM

Perhaps this is the reason for the recent change in the header text (green stripe) that says, "Ford - not built with your tax dollars"?

Anyone else unsure about how this would be interpreted by people not as gung-ho (about Ford products) as those of us here?

I LOVED, LOVED,LOVED,LOVED,LOVED this ad!!! The only thing I would ad would be to note that FOMOCO is a family owned company and not owned by a socialist/marxist.

  4. Has anyone seen this ad? They chain a Dodge Durango back to back with a new Explorer.

The Durango drags the explorer almost off camera and down a street.

If you look carefully, the rear wheels of the explorer are just rolling yet the front wheels are skidding, not really getting power.

I looks like they got a front wheel drive explorer and put it in park and let the Durango, which is probabaly an AWD V-8, haul the explorer away.

Dodge has some pretty good ads. This is not one of them.

Using my tax dollars to defraud the public.....

  5. Hello All,

I'm a frequent reader of the boards, had a screen name a long time ago but haven't spoken much. My girldfriend and I are about to move to St. Louis from Tucson. Looking for a truck to tow cross country and use daily.

    What caught my eye:

    2006 F-150 XLT SuperCab, 5.5ft. bed, 5.4L V-8, 4x4 with Shift of the Fly

Anyone have anything similar willing to share their thoughts, rants, or raves? Is the 4.6 adequate or should I just go for the 5.4? (need to tow 3500 pounds plus cargo in the bed). Anything new coming for 2007?

    -Danger

Current Ride: 2000 Ford Taurus SES, 3.0 V-6 12v built in Chicago (Damn fine job Chicago!!!)

I agree, I bought an '02 F-150 Lariat Supercab short bed with a 4.6. I never towed with it, but it did not have a whole lot of thrust. I'd go for the 5.4. You might want to consider a 2011 XLT. There are still plenty of new 2011F-150 at good prices. Go with the 5.0. I just ordered a Platinum with one.

    Good Luck.

  6. 5.0, 6.5 ft bed, box side steps, tailgate step, steel gray interior, 3:55 e-lock, skid plates, Navigation. Not much else to add. Everything else I want is standard.

The only bummer is that I wanted plain black, order code AU. I am stuck with Tuxedo Black which will be fine. I think I will call it DARTH.

It will be interesting to see if it comes with a two-speed tranny. I hope I can do better than the 14/19 mpg estimated.

I think the only after-market option will be to add Line-X spray-on bed liner.

I gave the order to my dealer on 9-2-2011 so I expect to get it end of November??? My dealer said Nav is plentiful and should not be an issue.

Anyone else with a 2010 or 2011 Platinum with some comments???

  7. If you look on page 10 of the order guide, it also says 3.73 limited slip SuperCrew is for the heavy duty payload package. There is no heavy duty payload package for the Platinum so no limited slip.

Makes sense to me. Thank you VERY MUCH for helping me out. I will have my dealer send out the build sheet as is with the e-locker at 3:55.

    Thanks again.

  8. In looking at page #10 of the 2012 Order guide I see that only limited slip ratio avalilable is just the 3.73. I asked my dealer to put that in the build she sent me. She wrote back and said that the Platinum F-150 is not available with LS 3.73 yet page #10 shows it is available in the Super Crew, which is what the Platinum is.

Which one of us is correct??

I really don't want the complexity of the e-lock and prefer the Limited Slip.

    Thanks.

  9. Trying to keep the illegals here doesn't seem to be helping BO any:

He is even making the Blacks unhappy:

Looks like a one termer to me. Prime candidate for worst president ever.

From your keyboard to God's ears.

  10. Do you know if that includes Fusion Hybrids with Nav? I have a 2012 Fusion Hybrid with NAV on order since early June with no news from Dealer. I learn everything from these forums. Last I heard was Nov for Fusion Hybrids. Why if they made MKZ's with NAV already?

I can't really help you because I was inquiring about a 2012 F-150. I got this update form my Ford dealer's e-mail response to my request about the Nav Sys in the 2012 F-150 I am hoping to buy.

  11. I was just guessing. You'd really have to see the order guide which isn't out yet or get a dealership employee to check the memo. I don't work for Ford or a Ford dealer.

Thanks for you prompt response. My dealer e-mailed me today and she seems to be on top of it.

    FLASH!

From my dealers e-mail.Navigation Update: "We have increased availability of navigation radio for September and October production periods. We should be at free demand by November production. A dealer communication will be released once we are close to September scheduling".

  12. Thanks for the new info. I am going nuts waiting, so any info is greatly appreciated. I can almost hear the rumble of my 5.0 PLATINUM ;-)

Akirby. I recently got a reply from my ford dealer and she wanted to know what the Job#2 date for the 2012 F-150 will be so she can put in my Platinum order asap.

Your profile was a little "crowded" so I am trying to contact you in a less intrusive manner.

    Thanks.

  13. He didn't order one. He's saying the "Initial order acceptance for 2012 Model Year F-150 is tentatively scheduled for August 15, 2011". That's the tentative date that they will first accept 2012 orders.

OK I missed that, but how can an order be accepted without the 2012 Order Guide?? Wouldn't you need things like the order Codes to "build" your truck?

  14. Initial order acceptance for 2012 MY F-150 is tentatively scheduled for August 15, 2011. The order guide should be available shortly thereafter.

    Really??!!! What did you order?

Is the NAV SYSTEM available? If so, did you order it?

I am so eager to get my Platinum.

    Please keep us posted.

  15. I didn't vote for Jerry and as far as I'm concerned he is nothing but a criminal ... aiding and abeeting criminals - should be arested and imoeached.

He is an idiot. I have lived in Ca. my whole life, so far. This is the second time he was elected governor. It is hard to believe that this used to be the land of Reagan.

Their are lots of consevatives in this state, just not enough of them to vote him out. I am not leaving this state, though. The actual state itself is beautiful. Beaches, Deserts, Forests, Mountains, Ontario Motor Speedway, Willow Springs Raceway. It is the POLITICAL climate that sucks......

  16. I forgot to mention the codes its trippin....

    P0190

    P0191

    P0452

    P0532

    P0642

THE INTAKE MANIFOLD WAS ALSO REPLACED. ....I don't know exactly what else to do. The MAF senor has been cleaned but never changed.

You know, I was thinking about this yesterday and I realised that I just assumed that "smoke" was blue. If it was blue, i was probably oil that was getting into the combustion chamber. If it was black smoke, it just might be a situation twhere that is too much GASOLINE in the combustion chamber.

Hopefully someone with much more knowledge than I can help. Maybe they will be familiar with what the codes mean.

    Good luck.

  17. I am going to try to make this long story as short as possible. I need advice on my truck. It has spells where it runs like crap. You can be running down the road and it starts sputtering and smoking like a diesel. When it does this you have no foot feed. The mechanic working on it has replaced the plugs, all the injectors (twice), the fuel rail, the egr valve, the fuel pump, the FICM, the FTP sensor and now the PCM. Problem is, truck is not fixed. Have consulted with dealer and they feel its in the wiring. Everything checks ok on the wiring. Anybody have the same issue? What did you do to fix it?

What jumped out at me is the "smoking like a diesel". My guess is that somehow lots of motor oil is getting sucked into one or more cylinders. Either oil is getting sucked past worn out piston rings or a worn out valve guide seal. Nothing you have done worked, probably because the spark plugs get oil fouled and then the car runs like crud again. If I am right, the fix would be new piston rings and/or replace all valve guide seals. None of this is cheap.

Another possibility might be that the vacuum modulator valve is leaking oil into the intake manifold but I am not sure that they used these on a truck this new since I think that the transmission is probaly computer controlled.

I have seen somewhere on this site a floating box where you can click on it and chat with a Ford mechanic. I have probably not described the box appropriately since I am not computer language savy.

    Good Luck.

  18. I get MSN on my computer's home page. Today the head lines were "Japan's Tsunami Recovery Stalls"

I was previoulsy chastised for implying that FoMoCo was not doing everything under the sun to get Sony's Nav System for F-150s so this time I will just ask if Japan's stalling recovery is going to keep the Nav Systems from being avalable for 2012 MY F-150 in NOV of 2011??

Many thanks in advance for any info on this.

  19. Novermber 2011 is what I heard but I don't remember the context (which models, etc.). This came from a dealership employee from a Ford memo (supposedly) so maybe somebody can chime in with more details.

Thanks for the update. Correct me if I am wrong, but wouldn't Nov of 2011 be about the beginning of MY2012? If so, it would make MY2012 Job2 when the nav will be available?

  20. Hello everyone

My name is Tom, big hello from the UK!

Welcome! As much as I like Ford products, I think the most beautiful car in the world is the 1965-1967 JAGUAR XKE COUPE.
