  1. I am asking this question because Ca. may have some extra restrictions for 2012 and, as far as I can remember "new models" came out in Sept.

Yet, 2011 5.0 F-150s started arriving at Ford dealers this month and EB F-150 are starting to trickle into dealers just now.

So with the 2011ramping up slowly, will the 2012 models come in Sept, only giving the 2011 models about 8 months of production?

A response form anyone in the know would be greatly appreciated.

  2. I don't know why this one thing drives me crazy, but I'd love to know whether it was market research, an engineering decision or pure laziness that resulted in that outdated strip of plastic, that looks like it was super-glued onto the body, on the redesigned Fusion/MKZ and Edge/MKX. Both these redesigns are otherwise clean and well done. This keypad just looks so out of place and I have never met anyone who gets any use out of it. Certainly not on the Edge/MKX which has the proximity entry anyway. It's not a standard feature on the Fusion, so they must have a way to cover that hole!

It's about time to let that one go, Ford.

I LOVE the SecuriCode key pad!!

I had it on my 02 F-150. Back then I road raced my Yamaha R6. I can't count the times I locked my keys in the cab due to the nervousness leading up to a race. I ordered it in my 04 F-250 And in my wife's 09 Escape.

Sometimes when I'm in my garge without the house keys I use it instead of going into the house.

Although I do not like the keypads installed in the window frame with the clear plastic over them.

  3. All valid and good points guys. Let me just add the "One has nothing to do with the other." factor in there.

When I watch a NASCAR race as do many of my friends, almost never do we say that so and so is driving a Ford while this other driver is driving a Chevy and that guy is driving the new Toyota. This is because we all know the race cars have absolutely zero in common with any production car on the road today much less the FWD production cars they pretend to represent. None of us watches a NASCAR race and thinks that Ford or Chevy is better or worse based on the outcome of a the race because honestly, the race cars are so far removed and different from anything rolling off a production line that trying to compare the two and say "See Ford is better because a Fusion won the Daytona 500." is just a moronically stupid point of view. You might as well compare a crop duster to the space shuttle. The majority of fans know this of course and I think that only adds to the "bubble is about to burst" effect that Richard spoke of. Like I said about this topic over in the "Competition" forum, I think people would rather see the manufacturers take honest to God production cars and make them race ready (or as race ready as you can make a FWD Fusion) and put them on the track because at least then you would have a much turer measure of one manufacturer vs. another in a race leagued branded "stock car."

    Speak for yourself.

If a Ford doesn't win a race, I am disappointed. I don't care what the name of the driver is. I want a Ford to win. Even if it is nowhere near a production vehicle, if it is a Ford, I am pissed if it doesn't win. Don't fool yourself. "Win on Sunday, sell on Monday" still applies.

That is just the way I roll.

It's the same with motorcycle racing. If a Ducati doesn't win, I am disappointed, I don't care who is riding, just it as long as it wins.

  4. "WASHINGTON -- The federal government on Wednesday upgraded its investigation into Ford Windstar minivans amid new concerns about corrosion in the vehicles.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said in a posting on its Web site that it had begun an engineering analysis, an advanced stage in its investigation, of about 550,000 Windstars from the 1999-2003 model years.

Ford has recalled more than 600,000 of the minivans in the U.S. and Canada since August to address rear axles that can corrode and break. The U.S. recall is limited to 22 cold-weather states where road salt is used during the winter.

Yeah, BO is stepping up gov'ts "investigation" He owns Chrysler and GM, so FoMoCo is his only competitor. I am SOOOO of proud of FoMoCo for not taking a penny form this marxist. I don't want Nancy Pelosi designing the next Fords. Thanks to 11-2- :happy feet: 10 she can't.

  5. Has anyone driven the EcoBoost and the 5.0L? I ordered a 5.0L, but it seems like Ford is really trying to market the EcoBoost (and all the love and praise is for it), so I hope I didn't make a mistake with the 5.0L. I don't tow much and didn't think the small savings in MPG (maybe 1-2 mpg?) was worth the extra $$$.

Hope I don't regret this decision since I plan to keep the truck for 10+ years.

(On the other hand, the 5.0L isn't really proven yet, so maybe I should have just bought a 2010... need to stop second guessing...)

    Thanks

Yes, I drove them both at the Fontana F-150 round up. If you can find my comments they will tell you all about it, but in a nut shell. they both had PLENTY of power. The 5.0 made beautiful NASCAR-like music when the right pedal was pressed. The only litle flaw was that the EB had a hint of turbo lag.

Considering all the new (and un-tried) technology the 5,0 would a safe bet. The only drawback for the 5.0 is the mileage, but depending on driving habits, it should be OK.

The 5.0 will give you lots of enjoyment. I am STILL deciding......

  6. I agree that the Enzo is ugly. The 360 on the other hand was the car that saved Ferrari for a reason. The F430 is the one of the most successful GT cars of the modern era. The 599 and Testarossa are simply iconic.

... the fact that you even included the 456 in there completely discredits your post. Nobody so much as raised an eye brow over that one... hysterical.gif

...oh, and the Testarossa probably looks out of date because it was designed a quarter of a century ago... finger.gif

...and the F430 Scuderia is actually faster than the Enzoshades.gif

For me the most beautiful Ferrari is the 250GTB4. The Italia is a beauty, though.

  7. All of them actually come with a 5 yr. 60K mile warranty. You get 10K more for free!

Great, but what documentation do you have for this? And you are sure it is on the motor and turbos specifically?

I'm not challenging you, I'm just asking for info.

  8. Hello Ford.

I am dyed(blue) in the wool Ford Lover.

I have been watching with great interest all of the videos at fordvehicles.com about the one EB "Hero Motor" torture test. I look forward to viewing the remaining videos.

I am convinced that THAT motor will turn out be very durable.

However, I would feel much more confident buying an EB3.5 If ALL of them came with, say, a 5yr/50,000mi warranty on JUST the motor and turbos. This is new technology and your willigness to stand behind it will certainly go a long way towards convincing me, and maybe thousands of potential buyers, that I can buy one with confidence.

Thank you for your consideration of the above.

  9. I mentioned that yesterday in the office. "Guess what today is"? Nobody had a clue. "It's Dec 7th".....nope.....blank faces.

    PEARL HARBOUR??

    "Oh, that was the 7th?"

"I remember it, but not the day"

    or the typical,

    "oh, that's american"

I just shook my head. I said, I guess that's why they call 911 the date and not "the day the planes flew into the towers" so people like you guys will remember the dates huh?

    Ages were 39,45,52,58

    Those that forget history............

I had the same experience where I work, too. I did call my 85y/o father. He remembered. He served in the Marines in WWII

  10. Because Ford execs have *never* been justifiably irritated by the conduct of dealers, right?

Because it's just a one-way street, right? Just Ford pissing off dealers, right?

My guess is there are quality issues with those components, and they're being held pending resolution.

Griping about Ford's failure to ship defective merchandise is like griping about a restaurant taking time to fry your eggs instead of serving them to you raw and full of salmonella.

I am happy to wait for two reasons.

1.I want a truck built with quality parts by people not in a hurry.

    2. I don't want a dealer to jack up the price just because it is hard to find or hard to order.

June to sept is OK with me. I just hope I can get a 2011 by then. I fear that socialist Ca. governor moonbeam might make them illegal by then.... Oh well if a 2012 is more expensive, I will just have more time to save up.

  11. When the current Town Car ceases production, what will the RWD chassis for Limos be? Or will Lincoln abandon the market that it dominates? There are no good domestic chassis to replace the Town Car for the limo market.

A Platinum or Harley-Davidson or Lariat Limited F-150 will do just fine......Really. Check them out at fordvehicles.com. You will be amazed how luxurious they are

  12. I would like to see the 4.4l V8 in the new explorer and the the US version of the LR4. A 5.5l v10 turbodiesel w/ commonrail would be really sweet for a high power explorer engine and the base diesel for a Super Duty.

Who needs a diesel when you can get the 3.5 EB? As you said, diesel fuel is more than gas. I had a F-250 PSD6.0. It was ok but diesel fuel gels or takes on water and needs so much care (and urea injection). And sometimes diesel is a little hard to find.

I don't believe the V8 diesel you speak of will ever fit in the explorer because it has the Taurus based transverse location.

I got to drive an EB F-150 at the Fontana Round Up. Believe me, drive an EB 3.5 pickup like the F-150 and you will never miss a diesel.

  13. I was stumbling around the internet and found and article that stated that the EcoBoost powered Ford truck finished the BAJA 1000 in 38 hours.

This, of course was the EB motor randomly taken of the assembly line and put through HELL ,basicly, and finished the Baja race without drama.

I am sure someone will find the link to the Yahoo article.

I am starting to lean towards an EB over the 5.0......

  14. Thanks, mettech. I cant find it. Can you tell me which engine was the favorite?

Well, I never found it, but on 11-13-2010 I had the chance to drive them all, but for me, all I wanted to drive was the 5.0 and the EB and for me it is a tie b/w the 5.0 and the EB.

The 3.7 did not interest me and the 6.2 probably got much worse mileage.

  15. I've been looking for the fuel economy for the Ecoboost-equipped 2011 F-150. Anyone have any estimates?

I was at the F-150 Round Up yesterday and was told, pending EPA numbers, it will be around 22/hwy See also my post in the F-series forum on the blueovalforums homepage.

  16. Carl Edwards won today, seems his prepped ford fusion get better gas mileage then the GMs, Dodges and yota.. good job Carl, he also won the nationwide race

And John won his 15th with the ford 500 nitro engine with help from Bob Tascas Ford by beating Hagans overacheiving dodge.

    and Frosty wins in V8s!

woot! good weekend for Ford Racing.

  17. Man! you folks are having all the fun! and I am stuck over here in IRAQ till Dec. Thanks Duckracer for the write up on the EB / 5.0. I will be getting the FX2 with the EB when I am done over here happy%20feet.gif

puddlepirate56 I am very happy my post helped. You will LOVE the EB. Once the turbos spool up, the acceleration is amazing. One of the Ford people noted that the EB was kind of a response to the demand for a diesel F-150. I would say that this is an excellent response, since it has the low-end torque of a diesel and the fact that, here in Ca. at least, diesel fuel is more expensive than gasoline.

Stay in touch, be safe, and I know I speak for millions of Americans when I say thank you from the bottom of my heart for your service to our country.

  18. California has had tougher emission standards since 1961. You do realize that CA standards are required in CA, CT, MA, ME, NJ, NY, OR, PA, RI, VT and WA. It's optional in AZ, CO, DE, ID, NH, NV, OH, OK, TX, UT, VA and WV.

No I did not realize that. It is the info I am seeking, though. Too bad I don't have property in AZ.

I just realized that most of the optional states are red states.
