  1. With all the great electronics in the Nav system to get used to, I didn't realize there is a way to turn off those sensors. Let me do some more reading in the owner's manual to see how it's done. If it's an easy toggle-type of switch vs. a complicated drill-down through five screens to find it, then you may be on to a great suggestion.

The switch is at the bottom of the center stack kind of hidden. It’s next to the USB port. There’s 2 buttons there between the USB port and cigarette lighter adaptor, ones for the traction control system the other is to turn off the sensors.

  2. I mounted mine in the same spot as Green Lantern. I think I did the same thing, I ran the cable up the dash behind the emergency break, there’s an access panel at the side I opened to pull the cable through. Then I just wedged the cable in the crack between the dash and where the roof line comes down. No cable shows from the front and you'd have to be looking for it to see it from outside. I took the rest of the cable and coiled it up inside that panel where the harness is.

Heres a question. When I'm in EV the scangauge shuts off the display after 12 secs, like the car is turned off. So I have to hit the home button to see how much battery is left. Can that be changed?

  3. Gary, or anyone else for that matter, do you know if the 09 rim is the same size, lug location, as older FEH's? Or at least the same as the 08? It would seem to me that they would be but my parts guy is telling me the 09 is different. I'm just looking to get cheep rims for winter tires since we get a lot of lake effect snow here and I'm trying to make sure the rims will work. Thanks!

  4. Make up your own mind regarding whether the dealer is playing games with this order when you read this latest email I received this morning from the salesman. I'd be curious how many people truly believe it can take (or ever has taken) three weeks to transport a vehicle from Jessup, Maryland to Sterling, VA. If possible, check a map before you reply.

Here's the email (complete with mispelt :finger: words and all) that he sent to response to my inquiry about taking delivery on Tuesday of this week of a vehicle that arrived by rail in Jessup, Maryland on Friday, October 17 at 11:42 AM:

Personally, I think he's blowing smoke up my you-know-what about it taking up to three weeks.

To put it how my dealer said, they aren't going to deliver your vehicle unless they have a full truck load to make a delivery. The shipping company isn't going to make a delivery of one vehicle, even if it is "yours". I was given an expected delivery date of Oct. 7th with the possible window of delivery a week before to usually a week after depending on shipping amounts. It didn't come until Oct. 16th and in terms of the window the dealer gave me thats 2.5 weeks. Take it for what its worth, which I'm sure for you is nothing.

I must say it feels satisfying to have ordered after you, had my vehicle built after you, and yet here I am cursing around in it.

    :ohsnap:

  5. ...continued...because I'm sick and tired running around here dispelling rumours and assumptions.

I'm thinking it's a good time to put the tracking on indefinite hiatus.

Thanks for everything you've done ViperPilot! It sucks a few bad eggs spoil things for the rest, but quite understandable.

  6. I am pretty sure that the 2008's still had the 1000 pound limit as well. I don't think either model is RECOMMENDED for towing but they do have a 1000 pound limit listed. So, in that regard, you are both right. Good luck!

When I was researching the vehicle (getting close to a year ago now I've been waiting so long for delivery) I emailed Ford customer service about the towing as some places say not recommended and others say 1,000 #'s. So I have an email from Ford customer service saying that the 2008 hybrid is rated up to 1,000. I'm sure that still applies to the 09 model. I'm planning on putting a class III hitch on as well for the same reason as I have a carrier that's that size.

  7. Congratulations! I was starting the same kind of search and moved onto the cars.com site when I read these posts. I found 3 Black Pearl Slate FWD's that weren't 2,500 miles away but they are already gone. Anyone seen any in the Greater North East area?

Nevermind I talked to my dealer last night and I have my VIN! Sould be heading down the line on 9/22.

  8. Hey Prattman, we have identical order dates, my sales manager last week was verbally and email promised a build in Mid-August and delivery in Sept/October.

If it helps put all this into perspective, back in June of 99 I ordered a 2000 Super Duty Crew Cab Lariat 4x4, which at the time was the hotest thing Ford was making. I took delivery one week short of 7 months on New Years Eve.

It was built on 12-23 and delivered and bought on 12-31, one week from Louisville to Toledo Ohio.

Its looking like I'm going to be like your super duty. My dealer called today to tell me that the Ford rep told them that my area is only going to get one hybrid for the rest of 2008 (he assured me that it would be mine) but that it probably won't make it here until Nov/Dec. I guess that keeps me off their backs and if on the off chance it comes in sooner than they look like heroes.

  9. Maybe my 09 will come in before Sep 31st and then I won't have to worry. I ordered it on 5/17 and the dealer is still telling me they do not have a VIN number. They really need to improve the ordering process so that you can track it off the order number on your own without having to go back to the dealer every week or so asking about updates. What happened to a self service idea?

Im in the same boat. Ordered 5/13 and nothing yet. Keep getting the maybe next week story. I guess I shouldn't expect much news soon either since the plant is shutting down in just a couple weeks now.

  10. I am not aware of a site with current numbers. I looked at Wikipedia for sales numbers awhile ago when I was researching the same question and the sales were under 60,000 as of Jan 1st, but the next question is how many of those were eligible for the credit. So from what I gathered it’s fewer than 60,000 for sure. So the next question is how many were sold after Jan 1st. I would guess not enough to go over 60,000 yet as I read in old threads that Ford wasn't taking anymore orders for 2008's at that point and they just started making the 2009's. My guess is the 60,000 mark may be hit this fall and at whatever point that is hit you still have the rest of that quarter and the next to get the full credit. But as for an exact answer I don't know if anyone except Ford knows right now. My speculation is that it will be a full credit until at least Dec. 31st.

  11. I ordered a FEH FWD Limited on 4/21/2008 with the Nav and side step bars. I got the factory conformation on 4/22/2008.

I got an e-mail from my dealer in the Atlanta, GA area today that I had a build date of the week of July 14th.

Thanks for the replys. I guess I should have gotten on ordering sooner. I'll keep on waiting and hoping for something soon.

  12. Not sure it will help but it took about 7 weeks after I placed my order with my dealer before I got my VIN. Good luck!

From what my dealer told me is that Ford doesn't issue a FULL VIN until the order is picked up from the bank and scheduled to be built. I'm into week 8 just waiting for that... Don't hold your breath! :reading:

  13. It seems like a number of people are getting VIN's and build/delivery dates for their FEH's from their dealers, but it seems to me that they are all on the West Coast. Has anyone in the North East heard anything about build dates? I'm in the Western NY area, ordered a FEH FWD Lm on 5/13 and wondering if anyone in the vicinity has heard anything.

  14. After speaking to my dealer today they said that Ford is having trouble with battery supplies. Also, the State of California has ordered 5,000 hybrids and is producing them first before going on to retail sales. They said they would get back to me on a firmed up date for production on my specific vehicle. I’ve seen some people have received a VIN and a production date already, anyone heard anything like this or different?

  15. In looking at page 7 (8th page in the PDF) in the Ordering Guide, the 320watt Audiophile radio (option 588) is a stand alone option on the XLT, and available both as a stand alone option and as part of the Moon & Tune value package (option 17A) on the Limited.

Those options are on the gas version only. They are not listed as standard or optional on the hybrid. I asked at a local dealer yesterday and they said the Audiophile system upgrade is only available as part of the nav option upgrade on the hybrid.
