  1. Once it's released from the factory for shipping, then your at the mercy of the shippers. As of right now, your truck is at the CSX Transportation yard in New Boston, Michigan, showing an ETA of April 29th. I would think that it will probably be after that date. I'll keep watching.

:happy feet: Was told that the haulers have to have full loads to make transportation cost reasonable. Your truck must be part of the load for the region. . . It's all about the money. Wish we here could have helped you more, but many of these are so much out of our control.

  2. Ford profit: $1 billion

Strong 1st quarter is another high for rebounding U.S. auto industry

Ford, a year ago in danger of being dragged down with a collapse of its nearly bankrupt Detroit rivals, is projected to report nearly $1 billion in first-quarter profits Tuesday, the strongest indication yet that the U.S. auto industry is bouncing back more quickly than expected.

The expected profit announcement will follow news last week of General Motors' early repayment of $5.8 billion in government aid and word that Chrysler is on the path to break even this year.

Though taxpayers might never be fully repaid the nearly $85 billion in aid they provided the industry, and a singed Michigan must move aggressively to diversify its economy, a more optimistic outlook is sweeping through parts of Detroit's hallmark automotive sector.

"A year ago at this time, we were fearful General Motors would fail and take the whole industry down with it," Bill Ford, executive chairman of Ford Motor, told the Free Press on Thursday. "What a difference a year makes."

David Cole, chairman of the Center for Automotive Research in Ann Arbor, said the industry is at the cusp of "a really significant turnaround point," noting that it came "much faster than I think most people anticipated."

Business at Ford, which bypassed federal assistance, hasn't been stronger since the SUV craze collapsed. Customers increasingly prefer Ford's high-quality, technology-loaded, fuel-efficient cars, leading Ford to gain market share in the U.S. and Europe.

But Bill Ford says his great-grandfather's company has learned some hard lessons and won't return to the days of self-celebration.

"We're very pleased but very cautious," Ford said. "I know how quickly things can change, and I know how quickly self-satisfaction turns into self-destruction."

:redcard: I've heard the company is crying that they are the only one of the Big 3 that has the highest labor costs. . . They're going to be coming back to us for more take aways!!! :lastyear:

  3. Thanks for the shout-out for any shipping info. The dealership, as nice as they are, is small town and behind the technology curve. I was the one informing them of my truck's status at the Dearborn plant. The next status update they will get is when the truck is being unloaded in their lot! It sure would be a cool feature if Ford had the ability to allow customers to track their vehicle orders like anyone can track a FedEx or UPS package. The gear-heads like me would eat that up!! I imagine there are points along the assembly line that the VIN is scanned as the vehicle proceeds. Enter a VIN and see where your vehicle is in any of the numerous steps from dealership order day to delivery to the dealer lot. How cool !!?

This Friday is seven weeks to the day the order was submitted from my dealer, so I guess we're right in that "six to eight weeks" for a new vehicle order. Patience was never one of my virtues.......

and we're waiting and waiting and waiting

:banghead: I've made a few calls this morning, but because many of those I've know over 35 years have retired or have died, I'm not able to help. . . The people I spoke to said there is info to track vehicles, but my status is not important enough for them to assist me. . . They know which Truck Hauler Company they are using, but like I said I'm not close to these new people. . . I truly know about that patience thing also. . . Have the same on issue!!!

  4. " A LEARNING EXPIRIENCE" ??? WHAT ???? They are elected to be leaders. If they cant run C Crew or thier own hall get rid of them now. This childish crap seems to go on at several locals i'm sad to say. This is why seveal members have lost hope in the union. As far a i'm concerned they both need to be removed ASAP.

 I felt exactly the same when I made my first comment, but thought you all would of dumped on me because it was too extreme. These very actions led to two union reps to punch each other in front of Labor Relations in the DAP. The membership really suffered on the floor and the divisions lasted a long time, with management taking advantage of it when they wanted to write people up. If this is not resolved soon, we all will pay a heavy price, especially when they want to add more work to us.

  5. I thought it was a sad example of union politics yesterday to see both "factions" fighting over and calling the police on each other over a retiree luncheon..nick was wrong to crash rays private affair with the retirees...but Ray was just as wrong to print up fliers that pointed fingers and then to proceed to walk around on c crew and try to explain his side of the story to all...Its horrible to see that our union is divided into two factions that seem to hate each other...Ray says nick is trying to score political points in the anonymous letter he put out last night(the second one) what the hell was ray trying to do walking around in the plant???...its scary to see these two fight over our union like two schoolchildren...Ray and Nick if you have problems with each other settle it behind closed doors...you should both be ashamed of yourselves...ps my name is NOT marv lang....I am D.Dean on the doorline c crew

:stirpot: Well, this is just what those of us left behind, when we left the DAP in 2004. I have seen this happen a few times over the years in the DAP and just when the current contract is coming to the end. This is CRAP that has hurt us from making any strides forward in the plant. With so many new people from so many different plants, the company will have us by the balls and we will see nothing but strife on the floor. These managers just eat this up! Until some people can step up and leave their EGOS at the door I'm going to see what happened in the past, all over again. STOP IT!!! It is not worth it.

  6. Wow...I thought getting lined up for a schedule for the actual assembly was going to be the long wait of this process. Apparently the shipping is! Left the plant early AM on April 6th and still no call from the dealer. I've got a friend who lives right near it stalking the lot watching for my truck, though. Small town VA dealership...it will be easy to see. and we're waiting, and waiting, and waiting.......

:banghead: This is terrible that your truck hasn't arrived yet! We have no control at the plant on these haulers, but I believe that your dealer would have a resource to track the their shipments. Perhaps someone on this forum, some who work for dealers would step up and give you some inside info to use with your dealer. Come on people, lets give this customer some help. :sos:

  7. Thanks for the update! I appreciate everyone's efforts.

:happy feet: Your truck left the plant at 6:45am April 6th. It ran through the plant 'first run' without incident, though an inspector found a scratch of the top right side of the IP and a right side front door had a door ding, but the paint was not broken. Both of those items were taken care of and left the gate for shipment as I said at 6:45am. Enjoy your truck!!! It would be nice if you would let us know when you pick it up, just to get some idea how long it takes. Thanks

  8. My truck is supposed to be built "around April 5th" in the Dearborn plant.

Anybody working there this week? I can't seem to get a definitive build date and I'm not very good with patience waiting for my dream truck.

    The VIN is 1FTFW1EV9AFC10212.

    Thanks-

:happy feet: We're there for you! Copied the VIN and will let you know more when I get there, but since I work the B Crew, I'll be there on the 6th. There will be others catching this post, who more than likely will be working the 5th and will help with the info. :speedie:

  9. He's right........................I've watched them move from lot to lot to lot. Somewheres around 500 of em.

:woohoo: Just got home from working the B Shift Saturday Raptor Work . . . Much of the units have been completed and we were told that all these units will be shipped by Wednesday. . . This vehicle launch is too important, just to ship without making it a quality unit. . . We shouldn't forget that this is a whole different vehicle than what we are use to building!

  10. Weeeeeee lets all throw our hands up and give a cheer for the communist spark lady. ROFLMAO you guys just kill me. Does anyone find it odd that on the very site where I constantly see the Obama haters just rail on about his policies, yet people somehow love the communist relic that stands outside the gates of DTP? If this were a true communist state she would have been drug off and beaten by now. :ohsnap:

A few quotes from the SPARK people themselves. All available at SPARK Website

“We want an end to capitalism”

“We want socialism, we want communism”

“The militants who work on the SPARK paper are communists, internationalists, revolutionary socialists – we proudly stand in the tradition of Marx, Engels, Lenin, and Trotsky.” :redcard:

Guess they only stand for the good communists? :hysterical:

Man pass the Kool Aid guys, cuz that is some strong stuff you are drinking. :reading:

:stirpot: Like I've said . . . Most, if not all of us know the background of this womans' politics . . . When I first met her, I told her some of the things you have been saying . . . I have even told her to go and live in one of the countries that support such doctrine . . . She knows very well the FREEDOM she has here. . . I've told her that OUR country would never allow her to succeed in her doctrine, though Obama seems to be on that path. . . Have you ever met a Jehovahs Witness or a Born Again Christian? Marty has the same fervor just as those people do . . . Yes, capitalism is something they want to end, but they sure have enjoyed all the benefits that capitalism has provided them. . . they (she) is not a threat!!! . . . I see your that this is something this troubles your heart, but wish you would use that strength to bring our union together with unity and purpose. . . We have a lot of young people, who are bright, educated, but seem to be just biding their time, waiting for something better to come along. . . Before they know it, 30 years have past, all the while, they may have been able to help someones job be better or speak up someone who may not be as smart. . . Please, there is no Kool Aide drinking here, except for the Kool Aide that we have been forced to drink from our Union of late. . .

  11. I have spent my week sitting outside babysitting them, moving them around and counting them. We have them divided into sections- those that have the graphics installed, those that need the graphics installed, those that are ready to ship and those that need to be verified for shipping (by the engineers). The ready to ship section had greatly increased and the needs to be verified section has gotten much smaller.

B Crew Predelivery is working Saturday night to send them all down the CAL line (inspection). Unfortunately, we don't have a ship date yet.

There may be two additional Saturdays to complete this shipment as was mentioned to me late last night.

  12. It is funny to see some come here and bitch about Marty and the Spark papers. I am certain that some of the same people that ridicule Spark papers and some of their beliefs are the same ones bitching on the floor about the company and Union both.

Sorry Stang to have quoted you in saying this, but you hit the nail on the head, the "Spark" gets their info from the workers and has held more true in their beliefs than any elected rep the UAW has from top to bottom.

I will not claim I agree 100% with all that they report or believe in, but I will say at least they give the workers a real voice instead of constricting what is allowed to be public knowledge among the workers.

:stop: Marty has been there at our gates for well over 30 years . . . I know that since I have that much time. . . Before anyone can bitch and moan about her being there with a friendly smile and concern about all of us going into the plant, you all need to know she is a very smart women who has gone through many trials and tribulations in her life for herself and for all of us. . . She has never pushed that yellow paper in your face. . . Never demanded money. . . Sure her politics may be different than ours, but she has spoken for us many times in words that helps many people understand what our concerns are inside the plant. . . She doesn't use all the profanity and hate speach that many of us use. . . If that paper bothers you, don't take the paper (even though I've seen many reading it who try to find one on the floor) . . . Don't be mean or nasty to her . . . Just keep on walking . . . She has never hurt us and never will, but some have hurt her badly and she still comes back because she shares information from all the brothers and sisters that may never have a voice any other way. . . Just be kind!!! :stop:

  13. Yea the VEBA will last, because they are going to keep raising our monthly premiums and giving us shitty coverage. THE VEBA SUCKS!!

:banghead: We knew this was going to happen . . . Ford has a big smile on its Oval . . . Really, did we think the IUAW was going to take care of us? . . . Pleeeezzz

  14. That must be a b-crew thing, everybody rolls them on a-crew.

:stirpot: Really? J. Taylor told me only one will roll them on each shift . . . Maybe I got screwed . . . That would explain why many of the b crew operators try to avoid rolling the Raptors as well as the STX with the shifter on the floor. . . Matter of fact some avoid the Harleys also. . .

  15. This is for you guys/girls at Dearborn truck, I have a Raptor on order with the 6.2L and have been told by my dealer that they are on hold, but people on the Raptor board that ordered their trucks after me do have a VIN. Are there any hold ups with the trucks? Also how are orders done, my dealer says he has allocation for one and my order has a 10 priority I find it odd that someone who ordered after me would get their truck before me.

:happy feet: Just Dyno tested 10 Rapters on the B Crew last night. They have choosen 1 Dyno operator from each shift to be responsible to test (configure the modules)(putting the brains in the truck) so as to get these units ready for shipment. Choosing 1 operator allows the company to detail the truck and speak only to one operator, per shift rather than 24 operators. Once any quality concerns are resolved, we will be shipping. Then we all will be in full tilt with this new BEEFY Raptor. It's really fun to drive!!!

  16. While I agree with most of what you wrote chirper do not be so blind, had there not been the no strike language I am willing to bet the Octomods would have passed.

At least from many that I have talked and been in touch with most all stated the no strike clause was their single biggest issue, the fact that we almost froze new hire wages for 6 years really was a non issue for most. In my eyes that was the single biggest issue in the Octomods, We can not continue to take from those with the smallest or no voice in the matters at hand without it catching up to us the current active workforce at some point.

    What do I mean ?

Well we have hurt the retirees with VEBA ,arguably a step that had to be taken to ensure our jobs in the future.

We have already limited the status and pyramid of new workers and their pay and benefits, again arguably a step that had to be made to ensure our work in this country in the years to come.

However with regards to new hires (when we need them) some time down the road they will be a majority and will be the members that will be voting on contracts that will have current workers pensions included. The quicker we can fix what has been negotiated since 2007 the quicker they will forget how we allowed them less of a standard of living than what we currently enjoy.

:redcard: No, No, No . . . I don't believe that the 'No Strike' was a issue, because we still could of struck for safety and some other things. It was a 'No Strike' for wages was the wording. . . Most of us felt that we had given up enough by the time this last Mod came around. . . The contract was coming up for negotiations in 2011 and if other sacrifices were necessary, we would discuss it then. If the 'No Strike' was the big thing to people, it was because they didn't read, they just heard what was being offered. I know I was just tired of Gettlefinger and King not listening to us anymore. . . We really don't need 'the King' in there talking for us.

  17. The two main issues I see that need to be addressed at DTP are.

    1 Overtime

    A. While the Body Shop has a shift to shift overtime spread agreement(72 hours) Paint and Final do not (Body employees can be somewhat thankful we are still working under the 2003 unit agreement for this). There may be a spread for workers on the same shift but say if someone on an opposing shift had way more overtime there is nothing that can be grieved.

Joe Winfield and all that where part of the 2007 Unit agreement (yes newly appointed IUAW rep Reggie Smooth as well) should be ashamed they even brought that to the members.

    2 TWO's System

This goes along with the Overtime but it is a separate issue in itself. This is the system that keeps track of hours worked as well as overtime.

The bad part is that it is outdated, the system does not recognize an alternate working 3 shift pattern (old mid-night shift excluded). With the implementation of the a,b,c crew patterns this system charges time and a half for any hours worked over 8 hours per day (even though these hours are normal operating hours) and for those on C-crews they get charged the time over 8 hours at double time rate on Saturdays.

Therefore those on C-crew for one day each week are charged double what the other shifts are getting charged.

Kind of makes equaling overtime between shifts a little difficult wouldn't you say ?

Up until recently this has only been a body shop issue since there is no shift to shift OT language in paint and final, but I am guessing this will change come 2011.

Just some of my thoughts and issues that have been brought up at the local level and will very soon be pushed on to the Regional level if nothing continues to happen.

:banghead: Your correct about the TWO'S. Nick told me last week that it's $100,000 software upgrade that is required for the fix. Any chance that it will be done? We are fighting for a return of some of our give aways. I really don't see that it will be taken care of anytime soon.

  18. Wondering, after the modification failure and with the most recent release of information on salary gains, how many plants in the system will get huge turnover at the local level, of UAW officials. From my perspective, the modification in March and the section on equity of sacrifice being a joke at this point, I can not vote for any local official that supported the latest givebacks. Your thoughts.

:stirpot: I sure took notes who was standing with Bob King at the DTP before the vote. . . Those who were there know, just by looking at me, as they pass by, can tell I have no respect or support for them. . . They should not even attempt to run, for fear that their actions will come back to bite them BIG TIME when the election comes. . . I'm hoping that the DTP have some young, new blood, who know the UAW history and have what it takes to turn this plant into a jewel that it should be.

  19. whats the point here brother? you bought a car with a good title, right? the guy you bought it from acted in good faith i assume. proving this car stolen will only cause you to be out the car and the money you spent on it,unless you prove it stolen and then keep it at which point you commit a crime. some things are better left alone.

    :banghead: I'm done! . . . I'll leave it alone . . .

  20. On the 5.0 I would imagine is in your daughter's car, it is behind the starter, you have to remove it to see it. This is Only the casting number for the block (Date Code), it is not a VIN. There MAY be other numbers behind the Intake manifold also. Likely not one of the ones stolen, bear in mind thousands of this car were made; odds aren't much in favor of it having been one of the stolen ones.

Even if it had been stolen, what's important on your daughter's car is the VIN of the CAR, which it has obviously been registered cleanly under for so many years, I'd say to let it go and not even worry about it.

Ok . . . Thanks . . . I do remember the it was hand stamped with the last six of the VIN on the block and trans. I'll look behind the starter. Not worried about it . . . He got away with 10 units all 5.0's. . . They all registered clean until one was in an accident and Ford had to investigate the accident. . . I believe that is how the superintendent got caught.

  21. :happy feet:

Hello everyone. Been lurking here a while, decided I'd go ahead and register.

My name is Eric Wilkinson, and I am a salesman at Brighton Ford.

I was a temp at Ford for a while, at NMPDC (The Pilot Plant), at Visteon (Sheldon Rd.), and at R&E Vehicle Service Center. My folks both worked at Ford, (My father still does, at Brownstown, my mother was let go last January after 22 years) and they have been putting bread on my plate my entire life, so sales is a pretty natural job for me.

Anyway, just wanted to drop a line and say hi. Looks like a nice board to be a part of, and I'll be happy to contribute any way I can. I have an F150 and a 1970 Mustang, so I'm pretty knowledgeable mechanically, on top of experience with Ford directly and indirectly through sales.

And, I'd be a poor salesman if I didn't say that if anyone is looking for a car, or knows someone that is, I would be more than happy to take care of them. That is, after all, the business I am in.

    Thanks a lot everyone.

    Eric Wilkinson

:happy feet: Welcome to the fourm. . . You maybe able to help me, being a Mustang owner and in sales. . . I'm currently working with the F150 in Dearborn and had put 24 years in Dearborn with the Mustang. . . Now I would like to ask you if you can help me? . . . Could you tell me where the VIN numbers are stamped on the engine and trans on a '91' Mustang? The reason is that my daughter just picked up a '91' Mustang (Mint) in Ohio in August from a retired police officer which he bought in New Jersey. The reason for the history is that in the 90's we had a Superintendant that was steeling vehicles from the plant and sent them to New Jersey to resell with the help of his daughter. He had stolen VIN numbers from units that were to be scrapped (dead) and put on vehicles that he test drove home. . . He was caught. . . Would like to verify if the VIN numbers on the engine and trans would match the IP plate. . . Anybody reading this that could help would be great also.

  22. Screw You,DTP builds their number of trucks each night....Tell your vendor if he don't like DTP then don't come back....

:banghead: Yep, we build a number of trucks each night, but they are hand built in Motor Bay. The system can't seem to get the manpower they need. . . There not coming in on a regular basis. Once again, just as it was in the Mustang Plant (DAP) people have lost their pride. When these people leave the plant, they would just have to look down at Motor Bay as they pass by and think what kind of work they let go from their station that night. . . We are on the brink of being the best automotive company in the world and all this can slip away from us in a moment. . . If we can't get this right, all the bitching about concessions is for nothing. . . Heard that the automotive employment will be down to a total of 25% by the end of 2011, of what the the total employment was in 2000. . . A lot more jobs will be gone across the board. . . No reason to tell that vendor not to come back, because he may be gone also. . .
