  1. Everyone has their own opinion on what to use. I see most contractors in a 6.5', 6.75', or 8' bed. Being in business myself, I have an 8' bed and at times I wish it was longer. I will be downsizing to the 6.5' bed so I can get the SuperCrew.

  2. I just order an FX4 with a 4.10 E-locker. At least the computer at the dealership accepted it. Your right about the 20 inch tires and tow max being necessary. Also noteworthy is the price is only $50 extra for the 4.10 e-locker. The code is XL4.

Please keep in mind the National Discount Package for the Luxury Package, 1K off MSRP if you order it and another 1 K off MSRP if you order a moonroof and navigation radio with the luxury package. Good luck!

Are you in Canada or US?

  3. Agreed, however, I need the 60/40 split bench in the front - taking the kid's friends to the cottage, etc. Otherwise I would definitely go with the FX4 - I wonder if you can get the FX4 with the 60/40 - maybe special order (but that would probably take 6 months to get)

You can get a Lariat with a bench seat.

XLT Custom Package also comes with a bench seat but 4x2 only.

If you go with FX4 it will still seat 5.

  4. No - in Canada - it seems only the FX4, Lariats, and Plat. have the fender linings on the outside. My older XTR did have them - it seems that Ford has cut costs (again...no handle on the driver side, no key lock on passanger side, less protection in the wheel wells, etc.)

I am wondering if anyone knows if one is able to order them on the truck from the factory.

This is nothing new. XLT/R has not had fender flares since the new 04 model was introduced. You can have the flares installed after the fact.

There was no passenger key hole when the F150 was remodeled in 04. I have used the keyhole on the driver's side maybe 2 times in 6 years. The key fob and the keyless entry panel eliminates the need for inserting the key into a keyhole. On older models you would go out to insert your key only to find it was frozen, jiggly, doesn't work right. The new F150's don't have this problem. For 2011, the keyfob is integrated into the key itself further decreasing the need for the keyed entry.

  5. Well, the US Build & Price has none of the Job 2 stuff. They still don't list EcoBoost yet even though Canada's B&P has had it listed as an option since day 1.

I would love to see the updated order guide and know what all of the changes for Job 2 are because most stuff is not detailed in the Build & Price such as gas tank sizes and all of the little details.

What I am hoping for most is the 36 gallon tank for EcoBoost. Offer the 36 gallon tank only on standard size bed and long bed 4x4's if you have to limit it, but make it available.

  6. As of yesterday's FDNB (Fleet Distribution News Bulletin) the 2011 MY F-150 Order Bank is now set to open on September 3rd with a Job #1 date of November 16th. The order guide will be released on or about September 3rd.

    ice-capades,

Do you know when the job 2 order guide will be released? Can you post it? Thanks for posting the original.

  7. Right. Because that's such an important part of a day's work for a Class 3 pickup.

It's not important to me, but in the shootouts you hear how Ford lost due the traction control, wheels spinning and hopping and how GM's stays nicely planted on the pavement with the new frame and how it rides better. I also notice the GM's have more payload and conventional towing. Ford has more 5th wheel towing. I wouldn't buy the Silverado or Sierra because it is faster or had better traction at WOT, but there is room for improvement with Ford's traction control and chassis.

  8. The really amusing stuff is what MT is highlighting. "Wow, Gm has a fully boxed frame now!"Yeah, wow..... Ford's had one for awhile. I don't know how an interior can be depressingly boring but also attractive but whatever. In fact they kinda gloss over the fact that the interior and electronics are dead last among the full-size trucks...

Fords are only fully boxed in the half ton. Only the front of the frame is fully boxed on the Super Duty. The rest is open c section down the frame. The c section makes it easier for Ford to put on different frames and for upfitters. But in the tests the fully boxed frame makes for a better ride and more payload and better traction in the shootouts. Pickuptrucks.com and Motor Trend said the Chevy and GM have a better ride due to the frame. Ford will have to put an all new frame on the next redesign. Although Popular Mechanics test did say the Super Duty has a slightly better ride than GM. I'll have to side with MT and pickuptrucks.com on the fully boxed frame giving the better ride because PM was the one I've seen that said Ford had the better ride. I agree about the features. The performance is close, so it will come down to features for most buyers.

Motor Trend's awards are for sale. Anyone who believes that this award reflects a serious comparison............................................................

Please explain how the awards are for sale. I'm interested in hearing about this.

  9. Does anyone know if Ford added a 36 gallon tank to EcoBoost for job 2?

A member of another forum said he ordered EB with a 36 g tank, "CONFIRMED", whatever that means. How was it confirmed and confirmed by who??????

I really want the EcoBoost and a 36 gallon tank.

    Let's make it happen, Ford!

    :burnout:

PS Thanks for the info on the 4.10's with EcoBoost. That's very interesting. Also, it's in a supercrew so we know it's not just for the heavy duty payload package.

  10. F-150 could stand to lose some capabilities? Really? That's great. NOT.

1,203 payload (includes 150 driver as I recal)

    - 75 (avg pickupdriver heavier than 150lbs)

    - 675 (3 passengers also 225 lbs)

    - 200 (avg weight of 4 golf bags)

    - 250 (avg wieght of a tool box w/some tools inside

    - 50 (weight of tow hitch, mud flaps, side steps you put on)

Whoops! You're over limit. You have to leave one of your buddies on the side of the road and hope someone picks him up as your overweight. OK his wife will come pick him up. She has 3 of her friends, a stroller, couple infant seats and some shopping bags in the back.... Much safer.

The problem is most 5th wheels etc when you look at hitch weight and look at how heavy F250s are... They are illegal too. Need a F350 to legally tow even avg trailer/camper.
