  1. I wish for...

    A 4WD Hybrid Mustang.

A small Ecoboost I-4 would power the front wheels and be on during all driving modes. HP would be in the 200+ range.

A generator would be attached to this engine to charge a small set of batteries in the back.

The rear wheels wheels would be powered by a electric engine and would only fire in 'burst' mode i.e. acceleration.

Squashing the throttle would provide 'instant' 100+ additional HP, totaling around 300+ HP.

The battery pack wouldn't be that big, and the electric boost wouldn't last that long (say about 2 minutes worth?) before recharging.

Since electric engine can be powered up instantaneously, the driver wouldn't feel a "lack" because on-demand power is always available.

This would give the Mustang good fuel economy but have the power needed for accelerating quickly off the line. Plus 4WD would improve grip.

    :do what: :kuko:

NO NO NO NO NO NO :nonono:

  2. I am a Ford fan and I do agree Ford needs to keep a competitive small pick up truck. I agree that the F-150 is just way too big for my needs. If Ford were truly interested in moving Ranger customers to the F-150, they would offer the regular cab/short box version of it with the new V-6 for 2011. At this time, it is not clear to me if that configuration is even an option for the 2011 F-150.

However, I actually like the current Ranger. IMO all Ford needs to do is refresh the interior and add more efficient engines and transmission choices while keeping it conforming to safety laws. That alone could give it a few more years until a better choice is ready.

I am not at all interested in buying an imported Ford truck. Manufacture it here or I'll be putting down my money on the new Jeep pick up truck allegedly given the green light. IF Jeep builds that truck and Ford doesn't answer, there will be a loud sucking sound created by loyal Ranger customers and businesses alike going to the new Jeep pick up truck.

My thought was take the Ranger, give it a freshen up styling outside and in, then put an Eco-Boost motor in it...

Increased mileage = better sales for small trucks IMHO, if the F150 ecoboost gets as good if not better it takes away one fairly large benifit of having a smaller truck...

Besides, Ranger with EcoBoost 2.0l in a short box regular cab with a 6 speed and real posi rear end would be a freakin HOOT to drive!

  3. I ordered and received this past spring a 2011 FLEX Titanium EcoBoost. pearly white with the black roof! and had the stock wheels powdercoated a metallic black that is a perfect match to the tuxedo black roof! it turned out fabulous, I have about 9000 miles on it, and am very happy. Have one little what sounds like an exhaust rattle, at medium accelleration. still working with the best dealer in the world to get it resolved, it is not a big issue, more of an annoyance...

  4. Special case - a line worker taking a picture of their own car in process while they were tracking it. Only someone inside of a production facility that they are involved with, has access to the production floor and has tracking ability to find out what/why/when their vehicle is in the process would be able to do that. No one else would.

That figures, thanks, I thought it might explain why i had such an idea...

  6. Cyberdman,

Thanks for all your help and time, I received a call from my dealer, car was passing thru Illinois on Wednesday the 4th so it sounds like next week. I appreciate your patients with my 'other' questions, and hope I didn't try your patients too much.. ;)

I'll probably do one last check monday as my dealer said delivery early next week. Then a few accessories, so I hope to have it by the end of next week... <fingers crossed>

    Thanks again!

  7. Think for a moment ... it is shipping by rail ... what does that tell you?

    :hide:

the lack of ETA threw me, plus I did not want to ass-u-me, even though I am pretty good at making an ass of my self all the time

the manufacturer that I deal with every day has engine assembly in one state and bike assembly in another and stuff gets shipped between them regularly.

Now I can get excited!!! :banvictory:

  8. I know this is not the forum for discussion, but just wanted to say thank you, I thought that I saw a pic somewhere on here or on the flex forum connected that had a pic of someones car in process...

I thought it would be quite a stretch, but I am of the mentality it never hurts to ask, and sometimes can cause someone to smile! ;)

thanks for the update. will check again at the end of the month.

  9. No, you did not. I can't do anything without an actual order number - which you did not provide. Thanks.

I thought I had the order number, that was my mistake, I apologize for the confusion...

I checked with my dealer and I do not have an order number yet. Thus explaining why I couldn't find it on the order acknowledgement sheet.

  10. No you didn't get it right. If you have to actually be wondering why - read the rules.

I did, unfortunately I must have the wrong number off the order sheet from the dealer... I apologize.

and of course I don't have the information in front of me... I'll look at the order print out when i get the form and see if I can find the order number...

Dealer gave me a copy of the order confirmation, so I should have it....

    again my apologies...

  11. Why do you want to? It can be done with a single input removed, but there is no 'button' or sequence of things that can be done. .

I want to be able to disable the stability/traction control on my Flex when I get it, My Volvo I could shut it all completely OFF except the ABS, saved a TON of wear on the brake pads and rotors, on track days...

there are not many things that are more annoying then getting a car at the edge of traction, and expecting it to do what it should only to have a f'n computer mess it up...

I hope it is possible to shut it off or I may cancel my order...
