  1. 1000.0 gallons used.

Here are some numbers as I have been tracking my MPG since my truck was new on 4/4/11. It is a year old now and still getting about the same MPG as shown in earlier posts.

Not too bad on the accuracy comparison, hand vs. computer.

    2011 EcoBoost SCrew 6.5' bed, 3.55 LS

    Hand calculation:

    18124.5 miles

    994.348 gallons used

    18.227 mpg

  2. I have now reached the 10,000 mile mark and filled the tank up to check the lifetime numbers. After checking the numbers at various mileage intervals, my numbers have been pretty consistent.

I am very satisfied with the numbers and I'll probably just use the computer from now on.

    Hand calculation:

    9999.9 miles

    549.232 gal.

    18.207 mpg

    Computer:

    9995.7 miles

    546.1 gal.

    18.3 mpg

The computer and hand calculation are pretty close.

  3. I just did a comparison of computer and hand calculation of my MPG.

Since buying the truck back on 4.4.11, I have not reset the numbers on "TRIP B".

    Lifetime numbers:

    Computer:

    518.1 Gal.

    9486 miles

    18.3 MPG

Hand Calculation from my gas receipts:

    513.731 Gallons

    9486 miles

    18.46 MPG

    518.100

    513.731

    4.369 gallons difference

(My hand calcs have always been a little higher than the computer).

I am satisfied with this. It includes only some minor towing and hauling, but mostly combined 50/50 driving. I have been able to get as much as 22.4 MPG @ 63 MPH on a 60 mile trip (that is tops for me). If I don't forget, I plan on taking some pics closer to 10,000 miles.

I do have some minor issues that I will have the dealer address @ the 10,000 mile service interval coming real soon: I do have a shudder that happens at 0-5 MPH in 1st gear from a complete stop; some tire wear even after a rotate at 7000 miles; and my tailgate cable straps are not the same length and I'm afraid it is going to put a strain on the tailgate that has the cable with too much slack.

  4. Not likely on this deal.....see window sticker. He is getting ripped off.

There are two circumstances where the OM says to not use the IOLM -

    1. If the IOLM is accidentally reset (In which case, change oil at 7,500 miles)

    2. Operating PRIMARILY in dusty conditions such as unpaved roads (Change oil at 5,000 miles)

My criteria for 5000 mile oil/filter changes.

    Thanks,

  5. I have a 2011 truck and the AC does not drip water. Any of you seeing this same thing on your trucks?

I have checked the inside of the cab to make sure I don't have water there because of a plugged drain. I don't know what to think as all other Fords I've owned has always dripped. My wife's Flex drips like crazy.

I run it in both modes...normal AC and max AC and it does not make any difference. There is hardly any condensation on the tubes in the engine compartment after a long drive and the AC cools just fine.

  6. Those are great results! And it appears the computer is VERY accurate being off by < 4 gallons over 380 is very good!

    Thanks.

Yes, I was very surprised with the accuracy of the computer. I triple checked my "gallons at the pump numbers" just to make sure I had done my hand calculation correctly.

I really like this truck and it just keeps growing on me.

  7. Here is my latest checks with just under 7000 miles:

After filling up and getting on the highway I got this on a 61 mile trip.

Interstate @ 67 MPH average and got 21.1 MPG. I was driving south with ENE wind at 5 to 10MPH and light to moderate traffic.

    PICT0103.jpg

Here is my last tank full and getting 18.1 MPG hand calculation. Actual gallons was 25.872 from the pump.

This is of course was combined city/hwy driving.

    PICT0097.jpg

And the last is my grand total on "TRIP B" and has not been reset since new.

My hand calculation is with 6925 miles and used 379.978 gallons which came to 18.22 MPG.

    PICT0091.jpg

So, bottom line is I don't think I will see any improvement with my overall MPG and with my driving habits. And I am satisfied with those numbers and I am getting basically what Ford said I would get. The truck runs fine, but I do have a couple issues that others have talked about on the forums. I am not concerned at this time about them as there seems to be no absolute fix for the flutter and the shudder. So I will continue to drive and enjoy the truck until Ford comes up with the correct solutions.

  8. Just turned over 6000 miles this week. My mileage looks like it is going to hold around 18 MPG for combined driving. I have not reset the "Trip B" thinking this may be a good way to track total miles. IIRC the average combined by FMC is 17 on the window sticker.

  9. Yeah, I feel for ya. Mine went 550 miles by convoy. I see that cyberdman has helped all he can for now. You might give Ford Customer Service a call at 800-392-3673. They may be able to give you the most recent update AND they may offer you a $750 coupon which would help to reduce your cost and especially since they have made you wait so long.

Call them today. They are very helpful.

    Good luck and Happy Birthday.

  10. Ordered my XLT Super Crew on 3/4/11. On my truck, the original ETA delivery was 4/12/11 and received it a week early on 4/5/11. Mine came by truck and was surprised to get it in a month. I was expecting at least a 2 month wait.

It seemed like back then that the guys that were having problems getting their trucks were being shipped by rail. A problem getting enough rail cars to the shipping yard.

  11. Back when I ordered my truck in March, the salesman was good about answering my emails and getting the information to me as I requested it.

Now the rest of the story:

After the truck was delivered, I accepted delivery with the condition that they install the integrated TBC that was originally ordered to be installed at the factory. I still wanted it and they agreed to install it at dealer cost. For some reason it was not installed on the truck at the factory. So, I waited about a month and called to get an oil change and find out about the TBC. When I called and asked for my salesman, I found out that he no longer worked there. But I was immediately connected to and got good service from other personnel at the dealership. I was scheduled the next day for an oil change and TBC install.

The bad part: When I went for my appointment and ready to settle the bill, they tried to charge me $284 for the TBC install. I showed them the paperwork stating the install was at dealer cost and ended up paying $191. Was not happy that they tried to pull a fast one on me and told them so. She said the price should have been written on the agreement. Not my problem as I told her it was written on there to be at dealer cost and I knew what the dealer cost on the invoice was.

FWIW, I have bought many new Fords for my wife and myself since 1975. they were mostly from the same dealership that has had many owners throughout its history.

This time I bought from a different dealer at a much better price and he has been the owner for 33 years. On the day I was taking delivery of my new truck, the owner actually came out and asked how my wife and I were being treated. I have never had this happen to me.

There is good and bad in all dealerships. In my experience, you just have to watch that they don't try to pull a fast one on you.

  12. If those numbers are even close to correct, I'll be loving it. I am pleased with my mileage now, I can't wait to get it broke in. I have only ~700 miles on the odo and I'm getting right around 20 mpg in mostly rural driving.

    Yes Sir,

They are correct. I have given you the numbers and the pictures. Now, if your number is even remotely correct, then you sir have done better than me in the early miles of my vehicle.
