  1. I am actually really impressed with the upgraded sony system. I go the 10 speaker, 6-disc system option in mine (no nav).

After reading up, I pulled the sub out and opened the box and filled it with poly-fill as others have suggested and it did in fact make a pretty noticeable difference. I think for the price paid it sounds really well. I would have liked to have had a mid level control or maybe a separate sub woofer control along side the treble & bass controls to be able to finely tune it a bit better, but overall I am happy.

I like the fact that I won't be pulling apart my dash and truck to run wires etc to install all the aftermarket crap I normally would. I pretty much always install upgraded audio equipment in my vehicles but find no need on this one.

Any chance that you'd have pictures of the sub opened up? How much stuffing did you use?

  2. It looked to me like the secretary at the dealership I use "managed" the e-mail for the sales team. She'd print out each incoming message, hand it to the appropriate guy. He would generally call me cuz he didn't want to have to transcribe a message back through the secretary. Either the owner of the dealership is worried about the guys surfing p0rn in their down time, or he's too cheap to spring for a few cheap computers for the guys to use themselves. Time to jump into the 21st century!

  3. That probably has something to do with it. With the 36 gallon tank, the EB would have a highway range of over 720 miles. I don't know about you, but even with a compfy seat, I don't want to be in the saddle for that long at a stretch.

  4. Now you've got me really stoked to receive my new truck! I'm currently driving a 2000 Silverado, also with extended cab and an 8' box, so I'm used to the length of the truck. When I decided to retire the Silverado, I immediately locked onto the Ecoboost as the motor I has to have. I agree with you that it's really the best all around motor available today. Once that decision was made, it was just a matter of finding an F150 that had the other options I needed. I wasn't willing to give up the extended cab or the 8' box, so special ordering was the only way I could go. My dealer searched the entire country and there wasn't one of these on a lot anywhere. I also discovered that the highest trim level offering the 8' box was the XLT. I wish Ford offered higher options, but I guess it comes down to supply and demand.

So my new ride will have the max tow and max payload packages, Blue Flame Metalic, Buckets with console, tailgate step, power slider and running boards. I'm going to have a LineX liner sprayed and have it Ziebarted as soon as it arrives. As I mentioned in another post, I'd really like to find a way to replace the stock tow mirrors with power fold models. With those Dumbo mirrors it's going to be tough to get it into my garage.

Anyway, enjoy your new ride, as I'm sure I will when mine arrives.

  5. I'm curious how long you waited between ordering your truck and taking delivery? I ordered almost the same rig on Feb. 11th and just received my VIN this week. Doesn't look like it will be built till the first week in May, so it will likely be June before I'm behind the wheel.

How is the ride quality with the supercab and long box? I'm guessing you weren't able to test drive this configuration anywhere before placing an order.

  6. I've ordered a new F150 EB XLT with the max tow and max payload packages. I like the large tow mirrors that this package includes, but am going to need to fold one of the mirrors to get into and out of my garage. I've heard that the higher end F150s (King Ranch and Platinum) offer a power fold option for this mirror. I'm wondering if it's possible to make a direct swap of the mirrors onto my XLT? Do they bolt up the same? What other wiring and computer reprogramming might I need to do?

If an OEM power fold option won't work, are there any after-market options available?

    Thanks,

    Randy
