  1. First and most of all, thank you very much for your incredible sacrifice over there, you guys are certainly the real deal and my entire family is forever grateful.

By the way, thanks for the message and the pictures. I feel honored to know that one of our greatest citizen owns the same vehicle that I will have sometime in August 2011, GOD willing.

Please be careful out there, remember that you have a great little girl and a loving wife, who are expecting for you to take them for a ride in the blue monster.

Be safe out there and once I get mine, I will forward images to you. By the way I forgot to mention that I ordered 20" wheels instead of the stock 18", just thought it would give the truck a more aggressive stand. Although, looking at your pictures, I think that the 18" would have been fine. Oh well!

    Best Regards,

  2. Well I'm about 60 miles out of NYC myself (currently before I move to MD in September) and depending on who you have for Cable, you should be able to get WiFi access in certain areas. I have Cablevision where I live at now, and there are a few wifi hotspots in the area where I live, but its not as well covered as cellar 3G networks are...

This is true, I have Verizon FIOS and they have advertised the availability of WiFi hotspots, but I still think the coverage is not anywhere near completion. It also is very clear that data plans and other systems in less populated areas are more widely spread perhaps because the demand is there and bandwidth can take it, whereas in a very populated area the bandwidth would be easily overloaded. Unless I am wrong.

  3. To eliminate the need for an external cell phone and plan, though, it would have to be built into the car. I'm sure Ford could integrate something like that, but requiring a separate monthly bill seems to be a backwards move.

However, as wifi blankets more and more areas (our city is in the process of adding city-wide free wifi), some sort of wifi receiver integrated into the car could be a huge asset, and could help customers save cell data usage.

My wife and I are on some family plan with her parents and sister... we're on Sprint with unlimited minutes, texts, and data, all for about $60/mo per line. Apparently you get more bargaining power when you have 5 lines to negotiate with. :hysterical:

If all of the major cities do this then it would be simply great. How would that work out by the suburbs? I am somewhere around 40 miles from New York City.

Separately I have a T-Mobile family plan and an ATT iPhone company provided. I guess we need to look at a different plan. Thanks for the update.

  4. That would require the hardware being integrated into the vehicle, a la GM's Onstar. That integration is the weakest point of that system, so I wouldn't look for Ford to mimic it any time soon. We have Sirius in our Escape, and we used it regularly until my wife and I upgraded our phones (EVO 4G and Optimus, respectively) and now we both stream Pandora through the car and absolutely love it.

I would never think that Ford would want to copy a GM style Onstar, but rather an innovative and less intrusive system. You must have unlimited data plan, good for you.

  5. Would there ever be a Pandora offer just like the Sirius offer on the current vehicle fleet? This way, data plans and huge phone charges would go away? Don't even know if that would ever become reality.

I think that Sirius is ok, but they also have a lot of channels that are not ever worth listening to.

    German

  6. Does anyone know the difference between the XTR package that is being offered in Canada, vs a similar truck in the US. I was in Toronto last week and was amazed to see that many XTR F150 Trucks all over the city. Amazing how many trucks were in that city alone.

  7. Gentlemen,

Thanks very much for allowing me to join your forums. I have placed an order for a new FX2 F150 truck with my local dealer (Maplecrest Ford) Union, NJ and am waiting for the arrival of this great looking truck. I look forward to learning and reading interesting materials regarding this great vehicle.

    Regards,
