  1. uhhh...trades doesn't have the option to bump low in zone.

Uh yes we do. actually in Michigan (zones 1 and 2) the zones are combined for purposes of bumping lowest out of zone. While you cant simply take a lower seniority persons job and put them back to lay off, when jobs out of state need to be filled UAWfactoryrat is correct.

  2. Any word on which trades will be forced to Chicago ? I know they didn't fill the welder posting last year. And there was a posting for fitters and millwrights just a few weeks ago.

I'm pretty sure fitters and millwrights, I'm GUESSING its not only Chicago but Buffalo as well. No clue about the other trades.

  3. I guess its a good thing the window is open for trades to go back to production if this is true. You may see alot of guys going back to oroduction rather than going to chitown or other locations.

I'm thinking most will. Especially with the money kicker.

  4. Livonia Transmission The 6R product lineup continues with a substantial capacity increase, while

the 4R line balances out. Plant investment is $192M.

That is already up and running. There is a rumor about a few more case machining operations but nothing that would create enough jobs to keep the people we will lose when 4r goes down, or add any lasting trades jobs.. Then there is an 8 speed rumor that "someones friend who works for so and so, who saw the machine orders... blah blah blah." I'll believe it when i see it.

  5. Steve, if you're talking about ppl leaving thru buyouts & retirements, we won't know for sure how many ppl will actually leave until the end of this year (in all the plants).

As has been the case with every round of buyouts/retirement programs, some ppl do the math and decide it's better for them to keep working.

We may lose a couple to retirements, however the 10 I'm talking about are Layoffs.

  6. Hey guys, just wondering if any Fitters out there on layoff, or back to production have heard about any jobs in Zone 2. Wayne? Dearborn Truck? Any info would be great. How many are off? Sorta feeling like a mushroom....

    Thanks

    Steve
