  1. I would like to thank the IUAW for all the phone calls about SB5 I received prior to Nov. 8th. and the one I received at 6:45pm Nov.8th asking if I had voted. I am so glad you remembered me and wanted to discuss SB5; but I am very saddened you didn't remember me in contract talks. I have walked the picket line with my father at age 18 in '67. As a worker I have seen the IUAW bargain for better pensions, more holidays, more relief time, better training, medical benefits, COLA and the belief in a fair days work for a fair days pay. Since I retired I have watched the IUAW give up or curtail many of these benefits gained over the years. I am turning into a bitter old man thinking about all the time I spent believing in the tenets stated by the IUAW. I hope in the next contract the IUAW gets back COLA, relief time, and ends the two-tiered wage system; then maybe I can once again have some faith in the IUAW.

Yes, it sounds like you were a member before the rightwing lunatics took control of this country. Maybe we should work together to get rid of these modern fascists and put in office those who care about the worker. Until then, all we will have is people believing the UAW can deliver more than they actually can. If we don't win at the ballot box, it doesn't matter what we do at the bargaining table. We have seen what the rightwing Republicans want to do to the American worker. Unfortunately, many retirees and active UAW workers vote Republican and screw us all. Then, they turn around and complain about the UAW.

  2. Thank you for your years of Service, as well as one of the best posts I have seen in a long while. Unfortunatly, it is my personbal belief that we will never again see Cola, or the other things we have lost over the past several years. They are gone forever. I can only pray that we somehow get the new leadershiop we need in order to make some sort of gains, and stop the losing slide we have been on. I sadly don't see it happening, as I don't see anyone in the wings to replace mr. King that has the ability to do what we need done. The IUAW has pushed themselves into a corner. The Company now owns them lock, stock and barrel, and the membership is seeing this, and getting mad about it. I predict that things will get worse long before they start improving. It seems to be whats happening in this country in every field. Autoworkers will feel real pain in the coming years. I only hope I can get to the where I can retire before that happens.

LOL, from the Tea Party president here in Michigan. You also want us to be right to work for less. What a fricking loser.

  3. Yes there are many hard working people that have no employment or busting their butt in a low paying job.

I wish we could organize this entire country so they could enjoy the great benefits of belonging to the UAW

Agreed. Too bad many of our union brothers who have been protected by THE UAW complain and cry all the time how they should get more, more and more. Hey wakeup people!!! The only difference between you and flipping burgers is the UAW.

  4. How much over the actual cost does Nissan pay the contractor? I am from Canada but we have the same crap here, the phrase is "STOLEN WAGES", the difference berween what the worker costs the contractor and what the contractor gets paid by plant getting workers. This is usually 5-6 dollars an hour over what workers cost, follow the ownership of these contractors and you will find they are owned by people who are well connected to government in many places. The new contractor will likely have the same or partialy the same people but a "new" company, Express Pesonal anyone"

Yep, this has been a trend by conservatives and businesses everywhere. They still get their $$$, but the workers get screwed. Add onto that how many want Michigan and Ohio to be "RIght to Work for Less" states and watch our wages and benefits drop like a rock.

Yes great news!!! Thank you Dearborn and Kansas City and every other UAW plant that voted in support. This is for the membership and for jobs in America!!!

  7. You are welcome!!! We understand solidarity is about not an individual but the union as a whole. We were set with our product investments and we wanted to make sure we are one brotherhood and sisterhood of UAW members looking out for each other. Solidarity Forever.

This is great news!!! Thank you UAW members in Kansas City. The media is really hard on us in Detroit but this makes them realize we are a unified force looking out for the best interests of all our membership.

Hey Chucky, since you have been fired by Ford and don't have a job, do you think you would be one of the replacement workers? Is that why you want us to go on strike so much or have Ford lock us out. People, Chucky is on this site with numerous names always telling you to vote no and go on strike. The guy doesn't work at Ford. He was fired for misconduct. He is trying to take all of you down with him.

  9. From the Detroit Free Press:

"But if workers reject the deal, Ford is likely to reconsider job promises in Flat Rock, Wayne, Louisville, Ky., and elsewhere, according to a person familiar with the situation.

Ford could add capacity at its assembly plant in Hermosillo, Mexico, to build more Fusions and could add capacity at its plant in Cuautitlan, Mexico, to produce some of the compact vehicles it plans to build in Wayne, the person said."

    Full link is here--

    http://www.freep.com/article/20111015/BUSINESS01/110150353/Early-Ford-voters-favor-UAW-deal-by-slim-margin

Ford has no plans of coddling us and giving the crybaby no voters whatever they want. They will ship this work back out, probably lock us out or force us out on strike. If you want to keep your job, VOTE YES.

  10. I have had launch assignments at both CAP and Oakville Assembly Plant. I have been going to Chicago on and off for its latest launch. I also have been to OAP recently. The Canadian auto workers and management were pretty giddy that the UAW will vote down its contract. Management there has told the workers they will get either the Explorer or new Transit (scheduled for Kansas City) if the UAW votes it down.

When asked about engines and transmissions we were told Essex Engine plant could make some of the engines scheduled for the US plants in this contract. So, take your pick it could be Romeo, Lima or Cleveland or a combination. Future transmissions may come from Canada, but If its voted down, I heard Getrag. Also, the work scheduled for Romeo would stay at Linamar.

This is for those who want to keep work in the USA with a YES vote because if work is not insourced, I don't have a job either. I am a US citizen and I want work to stay here and for Americans to be employed.

There is an article in the Detroit Free Press that says if we reject the deal, Ford will not bring in the work, period.

  11. This is true throughout a lot of American corporations. At Ford, salaried workers can "buy" vacation if they want to. If you don't get to use it because of your schedule--especailly plant launches, you lose it. We do get vacation based on years work, too. But, that probably will be limited in the near future. Why should Ford pay us to take vacation, when Ford can have us pay them to take vacation?

That is better than having no vacation when we are on strike. Or potentially no job with paid vacation after a strike or lockout.

  12. If your a commercial business and would like to support UAW members if a strike is called we are looking for the following plants to be sponsored by you!

Here is how you can do it:

People on strike need the following:

    Hot Dogs

    Bread

    Pop

    Propane

    Use of RV's

If you own a grocery store or party store and you would like to sponsor UAW members (maybe you have family that works in the UAW) so this would be a great thing you can do to help us. The UAW only pays $200 a week for striking, but everyone needs supplies while they are out there. In most cases when there is a strike, the worker's family may come out to support the worker's so they will need to eat also, after all they are only getting $200 a week, and we will need enough hot dogs, bread and pop for many people per plant per day.

I suggest a donation to start out (when you pick your plant) 100 pounds of hot dogs, 50 pounds of bread and about 50 cases of pop. This would be a great start for the members that may be outside.

Propane is also needed for heaters for this strike may carry into some cold days.

If your an RV company and would like to donate a couple RV's maybe 1 for each plant in the Wayne County area then we would also appreciate that. Good care will be taken to the RVs and they will only be used for shelter and to store food.

So if you would like to donate and help during a strike, please email watkins3752 (at) yahoo.com your information and phone number.

The Following Small Ford Plants are listed below:

    Saline ACH

    Sheldon Rd Plant ACH

    Michigan Assembly Plant

    Livonia Transmission

    Rawsinville

    Thank you!.

We will definitely need this help once the no voters put us on strike.

  13. Becoming a reality with every no vote

The no voters have no clue what they are doing to us. They think the company can't live without us. Boy, are they wrong. Ask the 40000 Machinists union members that Alan Mulally fired.

  14. This type of scare tactic shouldn't be allowed from the IUAW, if I knew who you were I would file a bi-law violation on you and have you removed from your cushy chair down at international. I hope this contract doesn't pass so I can hear you all come back in here and complain.

Yep, everyone who supports the contract and doesn't want to go on strike is on the IUAW. SO that means there are thousands on the IUAW staff. LOL! What a jerk!

  15. Once the NO voters win and we go out on strike, this is what they look like

    post-46492-0-79242800-1318691540_thumb.jpg

Then after a week or two, this is what the NO voter looks like--

    post-46492-0-57198900-1318691576_thumb.jpg

Then after six months and losing their house and everything else, this is what the NO voters look like.

  16. No pussies like you have you head up fords ass kissing it trying growing a pair. You must be a IUAW stooge with all the doom and gloom your trying to spread

Classic BS from a no voter. LOL. Sorry that you can't deal with what is coming if we vote it down. You probably can retire.

  17. Not sure what that means, but I think it is prevalent here.....I wish I had as much cash as you fellows who can afford to live off strike pay for months. If Ford was trying to cut our pay or health benefits, I could understand voting no. Let's think very carefully about the consequences of our actions before making decisions. I believe if we use common sense and realize that we have the best blue collar jobs in the nation, we will vote appropriately. Timing is everything when asking for a raise....with every other blue collar worker in the nation making far less than us, this is NOT the time.

I think it means go with what you have not what you think you might get.

  18. While I know this is not a true post from Gary...it's still true. The sad part is he keeps getting re-elected. DTP you must be so proud this is YOUR leader. Every class has it's clown...hahaha :banghead:

This isn't the real Gary? It seems just like that idiot.

  19. LOL man you are funny, Ford can have all those plants up and running in about 3 weeks, when a new worker come in they be up to speed in 3 to 4 days, how long did it take you to learn a job------- anyway why do you want the contract voted down, just asking

You said it real good chessman, Ford can train and have the plants up and running while we are on strike or lockout within a month. We have too many fools on here claiming "they can't be replaced." HELL YES YOU CAN BE REPLACED!!! Just keep voting no and find out how fast Ford replaces us.

  20. Between Production and Skilled we will lose on average $1000 each week in pay while on strike. Add onto this OT at some plants and we will be losing a lot more. There is no way, we will regain our lost wages. We may end up losing our houses, won't be able to pay our bills and may have our cars repoed. Ah, the no voters, driving us into bankruptcy and destroying our futures.

If we get our jobs back, this is money we will never get back.

  21. Auto sales seem to be pretty good which also gives Ford an incentive to lock us out and replace us. Or if we go on strike to replace us. Ford has enough inventory to take a strike for a few months. In that time, replacements can be trained and they will have the plants up and running. People will buy Fords at that point just to tell us to get screwed and to support the replacement scabs.

Public hatred against what is seen as overpaid fat cat union members will drive up sales if we are replaced. No doubt about it.
