This is my first post here, so please be gentle with me if there is already a topic here somewhere that addresses my questions. Also, know that I am not a true car enthusiast so if I seem a little uneducated about cars in general, it's because I am!
So, I've been reading everything I can find about this car, anxiously waiting for the new Fusions to arrive. I just love the look of this car, and after 3.5 years with my Prius I would like to get something new while the Prius still has a decent resale value.
This morning I was pleased to see that there were a few new Fusions at my local dealer, so I went out there for a test drive. They had one in the color I thought I wanted (bordeaux reserve), and I took it for a spin. It was the base model with the 2.5 L engine.
The car drove nicely, handled well, had a smooth ride and felt good to me, although the 2.5 was a little sluggish. Not to worry, though, I'm going to hold out for the hybrid, which I understand from reviews is a bit more peppy.
However, one thing that really bugged me about this car was window noise. I kept hitting the window switches because it sounded like the windows were cracked open a bit, but they weren't. My husband was with me and when we discussed the car afterwards he had noticed the same thing. In other respects it was a very quiet ride, but I don't know if I'd get used to this or not; it sounded like the doors were not sealed properly and was very distracting throughout an otherwise very pleasant test drive.
So my question for the group is whether or not others have noticed this on test drives. I know not many will have driven it yet, but I'm wondering if the one I drove was just not well put together. I'm planning to drive the hybrid as soon as it's available, so maybe that experience will be different, but right now I'm on the fence about whether this is an indication of the general quality of the car, or if it's something I could get used to.
