  1. My clutch pedal is making some noise when I upshift. It's a buzzy rattle that happens near the top of the clutch travel. If I take my foot off the clutch pedal it goes away, but the next time I shift I hear it when I am letting the clutch out. At first I thought it was the speaker in the driver's door making noise, but then I noticed it when using the clutch.

I also have this weird thing that happens with the sound of the radio. Sometimes it sounds very washed out, almost monotone. I also hear that weird high-pitched sound sometimes when listening to the satellite radio -- you know the sound when you are streaming something other the internet and it doesn't quite have enough bandwidth so the sound quality goes down. Both of these issues come and go, so part of it could be how the signal is being picked up (in an area with weak signal, interference with CB radios, etc).

  2. Here are the numbers on my first fill up.

I drove 369 miles on the dealer's tank, which I am not sure was all the way full when I took delivery. The computer said I got 26.8 MPG and used 13.67 gallons. I filled up when it said 5 Miles To Empty.

I put in 15.101 gallons with a very slow fill. Based on 369 / 15.101 I get 24.44 MPG. I guess we'll see on the next tank because I know the tank was full this time.

  3. Thanks for the info. Have you just been casually driving it? Or does that include a little fun in those numbers as well?

  4. I have almost exhausted the dealer's tank of gas (53 MTE) and the computer says 26.1 MPG. I would say about 50/50 city/highway driving. I did sit stopped in traffic for 45 minutes yesterday on my way home from work, so I'm sure the MPG would normally be a bit higher. I am not sure on how many gallons it says I've used. I'll post with more info when I fill it up tonight.

As far as how the manual transmission shifts and feels -- it is very smooth and the clutch is great. It took some getting used to for when it engages in the pedal travel (which goes for any clutch) and it catches a lot closer to the middle of the pedal travel than my '97 Ranger which catches at the top of pedal travel. There is a strange feeling upon downshifting into second gear, almost like a hindrance of some sort. It seems to happen most of the time except when I am going extremely slow. I don't think it's anything to worry about. I'm used to this type of thing upon trying to shift into first gear if you aren't stopped, but it's not nearly that bad. Just a little catch of sorts. It still shifts into second fine and takes no extra effort. It almost feels like a slight vibration through the shifter.

The throw of the shifter is a bit longer than I expected but it is very smooth. If you have anything in the cup holders it can interfere with shifting slightly (say a tall cup or bottle of water).

  5. 2 seems to be an unconfirmed known issue. I've seen several posts. One guy said he was displaying 1/8 tank but it only filled to 12 gal. They had an engineer take a look but I never heard the results. Was the handling always vague? I've test driven two different trims and neither had an issue (IMO) with steering. In fact, they both felt really good. I also heard you should sort of ignore your MPG for the first 1000-1500 miles. But I haven't really read of many people getting awesome MPG yet. Everyone seems underwhelmed by reality compared to EPA estimates. Hopefully its overblown.

  6. I took delivery of my car on 12/20. I had to wait an extra week for the dealer to peform the recall for the 1.6L Ecoboost engine fire issue. I will say that it was worth the wait. Hopefully all of your cars will be waiting at your dealerships soon.

  7. Took delivery of mine on 12/20. I have only driven 100 miles so far. Ride and handling are great so far. I am still getting used to the size of the vehicle (length of the hood and rear deck, etc.) Having the rear sensing system helps with this in reverse.

I have a couple of gripes but nothing huge. Why is the ignition so low? The key sticks out really far and I almost hit it with my knee. The wheel is at its highest tilt setting and my seat is at its lowest height setting. Why can't I see the TPMS in the Information screen? The Pontiac G8 GT that I own shows the tire pressure of each tire. Why can't the Fusion do this?

A question for fellow owners: When are you going to change the oil for the first time?
